  1. hey, i am a begginer angler and i have a couple quiestions. i went out last weekend on a lake in nc. my dad and i got up at 5:30 am and surpirisingly it was pretty bright outside. we remeberred this spot from last time that had lily pads, i had a zoom hook and zoom horny toads. i rigged it up and started skittering it across the water on the lily pads. like second cast splash i bass tried to hit it and missed . again and again the bass kept missing my frog and hook. i tried pausing at after they hit it but they just hit only hit it once before i casted again. this happened all saturday morning and im not sure what i am doing wrong or is there something else i need to do??? thank you guys in advance.
  2. i know that is not hydrilla because where i fish hydrilla is everywhere. it is a nasty mess :) . i know that but nothing else, sorry. look at this picture(hydrilla) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1c/Plant_-_Hydrilla_verticillata_-_Batu_kawa.jpg
  3. what i do with a crankbait is reel it and almost fish it a little like a jerkbait. i gives it a little different action that triggers the fish . you dont have to hit something to get fish. the biggest fish i catch are in open water.:)it works for me
  4. me too!!!!! jk... i would use a deep crank or a flashy swimbait a deep crank b/c it reaches down to the fish a flashy swimbait because the suspending bass towards the bottom will see it and they will swim a long way to get something flashy. Good luck!
  5. good idea, i will try that too
  6. points and mouths of rivers
  7. so... i would say no 5ft is not too shallow, not at all
  8. in my opinion, too shallow is on the ground i dont use beads, but i dont know tht much
  9. Hey bassresource members, I have only been fishing for a couple years and for a while was only using nightcrawlers. i started catching bigger fish but it got hard because you cant fish a live worm in all situations. i did some research and went to dicks ard started using crankbaits and jerkbaits. they are easy use and NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED. that is the one reason i used just these lures, also because i thought FISH eat FISH. well i caught fish, but again... i coulnd't just use hardbaits in every situation. i need to learn how to use worms and other soft plastics. i watch a lot of tv shows on fishing but they make it look so easy. i have tried and tried and i feel as if i am doing something wrong. i am not sure what though. what i want from my fellow members is just some advice on techniques, location, and equipment on texas rigs carolina rigs shakey heads thank you
  10. Welcome!!! You will LOVE this place!!!!
  11. nice pic! Bass eat more than we know :-?
  12. X2 after watching the flamish cup me too i saw it on the WORLD'S GREATEST FISHING SHOW BEAST
  13. fisrt off i love using crankbaits, biggest fish i get are of nice big crankbaits . but poppers, well i am not that patient, actually i havent even tried formore than 5 minutes, i got bored . i like to run a crank bait over offshore structure and along the bank.
  14. I have that problem too, carrying a box OR having all my skirts tangled together, what i would do is get a tackle box with racks on the outside for spinnerbaits, Ect. thats probably your best bet.
  15. I bought a couple colors of zoom horny toads and a pack of hooks.
  16. NEW ANGLER i have not have any luck with using toads yet but i have only used them twice so i will try again, Good Tips . good luck bowtech 8-)
  17. speaking of catching little kids... i caught i my little sister (8) in the face, i felt so bad:'(. i didnt hurt her though.
  18. i caught i MONSTER crawfish, i was using night crawlers and grabbed my hook with a single claw. it didnt put up a fightl, but it was a cool expirience i didnt catch it but i saw a snake follow one of my shallow crankbaits also caught a huge log ;D ;D ;D
  19. oww dude, that looks like it hurt! i have no expirence with hook removing, never really had one very deep nice picture!!! ;D
  20. Hey, the summer is the main time i fish and i was wondering what are the most common Lures/Baits thet people use.
  21. sorry bought the bite, im just glad ur ok. i see a lot of snakes where i fish but they are IN the water. they see any movement and they are spooked to deeper water. Kinda random...but at my house last summer, my grandma was in town and i saw my neighbors cat in the yard. i looked a little left and there is a huge copperhead. i ran and got my parents and neighbors and they grabbed the cat. and the best part of this is my GRANDMA snuck up behind it and cut off its head with a shovel. . wow grandma...
  22. i have seen a bass eat a mole off someones back ... he flipped out
  23. Hi everyone, i am a young angler, i have only been fishing for a few years i was only used cheap spincast reels. i started to get better and last year my dad got me a spinning reel. I saw and read that baitcasting reels are more accurate and more efficient. so i went to basspro.com and got a nice baitcasting reel. i got a pole and put line on it and i tried it out. i go my line tangled every time and i kept having to fix it and that takes too long. i need some tips from more Experienced anglers on how to learn to use my new reel.
  24. she wouldnt let go... she spit it out...
