  1. Sure rub it in Simp. We were robbed up here is the Peoria area. The hi was 45 and we had rain What part of So IL are you in? Are you thinking of going to the spring BRroad trip? I'm just a couple miles outside of Carbondale. As far the the trip is concerned I plan on going but I don't know if I can do 5 days yet. I might stay a couple nights and drive a couple days since I'm probably only about 90 min to two hour drive away. I've also got to figure out the boat situation. My buddy and I use a 16ft John boat with a 15hp motor and we may just take it. I don't think we can afford to pay for hotel rooms, rental boats, ect. So I'm still trying to plan it all out but I'm about 95% sure I'll be there for at least 3 days of fishing!! I just hope my club hasn't scheduled a tourney during that week.
  2. I know Gken and I got your original point. I was just having some fun during a cold IL winter What are you talking about we had a surprise warm front hit us in Southern IL today and it hit at least 68 today. I've got to pay more attention to the weather because if I would have known I'd ahve been out on a lake. Even if the fog prevented me from seeing it! ;D
  3. Ok I've been doing a ton of research on the subject of Latex vs Memory Foam and ran across a good basic article that breaks it down. http://www.memory-foam-buyers-guide.org/latex-mattress.html "Memory foam mattress products are everywhere these days...tv, radio, newpapers and magazines, but are they really the best choice for a mattress? Latex has been around for as long as rubber trees...not the latex mattress, but, at least the raw material. So...what are the differences in the two and how do you know which might be the best suited for your new mattress? The following comparison should be of interest if you're considering either one. Memory foam mattresses, by nature, are softer and more pliable than latex mattresses. Memory foam is temperature reactive. In other words, it will become softer, when you lay on it, and your body temperature starts to warm it up. The reverse is also true. When the memory material gets cold, it will become quite firm. If your memory foam mattress is made of high quality, dense foam, you will have the best of both worlds. You won't have to buy a "hard" mattress to get the proper support for your body. To check for support, you should try to slide your hand under the small of your back, when lying on your back in bed. Don't raise up or roll to the side when doing this, you should be lying flat. If you can easily slide your hand under the small of your back, your mattress isn't supporting you. It needs to be replaced. Density is directly proportionate to quality. The denser memory foam is much more expensive to make and will last indefinitely. Cheaper memory foam is made up of a lot of air and can break down in a matter of a 3 to 5 years. (or even sooner) While it may seem like a "good deal" to find a lower priced mattress, you'll be replacing it in a few years and won't have the good support you need either. The thickness of the memory foam is also important. If it's too thin, you can bottom out and actually be laying on the HR (high resiliency) foam base material. The base foam is not meant to be laid on and will be uncomfortable. If it's too thick, it will be too soft. Because of the way memory foam "melts" away from the pressure of your body, it will spread your weight out evenly over the entire surface that's touching it. This even support is what makes the memory foam mattress so comfortable. It also greatly reduces the tossing and turning that so many people have a problem with at night. On most other mattresses, you develop pressure points. These are places, usually around the hips and shoulders, where the circulation is greatly or completely cutoff. When your body senses this restriction, it signals your brain that you are dying and the brain reacts by telling you to turn over. This can happen from 40-60 times in a night so you are constantly moving, which can be very annoying to your sleep partner and cause them to be sleepless night after night. It could be grounds for mattress divorce. Ideally, the memory foam should be about 3 1/2" to 6" thick. Latex mattresses have a unique feel, also. Imagine filling a mattress cover with jello. That's about the closest analogy to the feel of a latex mattress. It's very supportive but also pretty firm. It will transfer a little bit more motion than memory foam. Many people like latex because they view it as a natural product and, therefore, they reason that it is healthier to sleep on. There are natural latex mattresses and processed latex mattresses, so you should check carefully on the label to make sure you are really getting a natural latex. Latex is harvested from rubber trees in about the same way maple syrup is derived from maple trees. They tap into the tree and it oozes out. The latex is then processed according to the product it will be made into, which can be for anything from tires to mattresses. Some processes use petroleum or chemicals in manufacturing. Of course, this would produce a mattress that is not natural and, therefore, environmentally unfriendly. Natural latex is biodegradable. Latex is naturally hypoallergenic and anti-microbial. Dust mites, mold and fungus will have a hard time surviving on a latex mattress, so your allergies won't be irritated when you go to bed each night. Another unique feature of latex is that it is almost indestructible. It will literally last for a lifetime, under normal circumstances." I can tell you I personally preferred Latex when I laid on one at the bed store over Memory Foam. With that said I'm probably leaning to a Memory Foam mattress because I've found a AMAZING price on some at Sams Club online. The bed is made by Foamex who is a MAJOR producer of these beds and they supply most of the major brands with there foam. The one linked is a 8 inch but they have a 10 and 12in version as well. You will notice they also have great reviews. The other big factor is Sams Clubs great return policy. http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=401228 I've also found a discount Latex producer that is getting good reviews. Here is the link to there Queen Latex Matresses. http://www.foambymail.com/LatexMQueen.html Their prices are great compared to other Latex beds at about $475 with free shipping. I also came across what appears to be the BassResource.com for beds at http://www.whatsthebest-mattress.com/forum/. I'm sure they can help awnser allot of our questions and I know just reading tons of threads over there has helped me, but don't forget to report your findings and your bed results! Oh and OVerstock seems tp be a no no. Many people don't get what they paid for and Overstock doesn't seem to like returns. Telling one guy that after he figured out his bed should way a certain amount for his denstiy rating (but didn't) that it would weight more once it was opened and expanded to it's full size. ;D
  4. You they haven't been the same since this. CARDS 4LIFE!!

    Bump.
  7. Oh yeah the Tru Tungsten is pretty small and probably best on spinning or 6-66 M rods. The Spro BBZ is a fair amount larger then the tru tungsten. Again my problem beside the wrong sink rate was the fact the pin was either pushed down to far or broke on the top.
  8. One that won't shut up! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  9. Well it's almost a new year and I think I'm ready for a new bed. My bed or mattress isn't very old maybe 3 or 4 years at the most but thanks to my niece and nephew walking on it. Plus my constant presence on it has worn it out. It's not horrible but I have some springs that bug me now and again and I notice I'm waking up with a few more aches and pains from it. My dad went threw buying a bed a few months back and so I went to several different stores and laid down on a few. I found I did like some of the new memory foams but I'll never pay $1500 and up for a bed I don't think. I mean thats allot of fishing gear I could buy! ;D I also found I loved some type of older foam bed or something that the salesman said was made out of a petroleum based compound. So I guess I'm asking does anybody have any recommendations on a memory foam style mattress they are happy with that doesn't cost a arm and a leg? The couple I found on Sams Club website seem to good to be true but do have some good customer reviews. Here is the one that I'm particularly interested in http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=401228&pCatg=8381 .

I'd recommend you download and install TVersity. It's a good program that can convert files on the fly for your PS3 or Xbox360. I'd recommend you do some googling on the subject to find some very detailed answers for what can be unfortunately a headache for some.
  11. I knew what the game was before I opened the thread LOL. Dead Space is GREAT!! Paul do you have a gamertag mine is GeneralPatton71 send me a friend request!!
  12. Lunker Lure
  13. I tested out the floater slash slow fall and I was able to throw it on a 66 Medium rod with wind. That was by the way with both balls in. This is a very light bait and you can easily probably preferably throw it on spinning tackle. BTW I'd guess maybe a 1/2oz on the slow fall possibly a little more.
  14. I got from my family Redeye Shad Spro Dean Rojas frog (I love these!) For myself I got Lee Sisson Weedless Premium Shallow 2 http://www.***.com/descpageLSCB-LSWPBS2.html Spro BBZ Shad Relution Shad (this was defective) 2 Tru Tungsten 4 inch shad (wrong sink rate). Now I've got about $250 heading my way for a football pool and I'm trying to decide whether I really need a Shaimano Curado E and a Tru Tungsten 7inch Bluegill.
  15. Yeah it's hilarious how that happens but that how I found bass resource to begin with. Last year they did a ep with those Dancing Eels and I bought a couple to try out. Well the smaller version caught me fish be then they started running bad. So i was looking for a solution when I came upon this forum.
  16. Well customer service can often be the downfall of many stores. Cabela's and TW seem to have this issue covered. First up is Cabela's who's shipment was late thanks to UPS so they are refunding me the $10 shipping surcharge for 2nd day air. The other problem I had was the two Tru Tungsten 4 inch shads I ordered were the wrong sink rate, I wanted the slow wink/fast sink instead of the floater/slow sink. They spent a fair amount of time trying to locate the right model but they finally realized they don't carry the fast sink. I was then going to have them send me a couple fast sink BBZ shad but they don't carry that rate either. No doubt I was a little frustrated but they offered to just refund the money and I can use the pre paid shipping label to send them back the Tru Tungsten's and they would pay the shipping charge (normally they take 7.50 off your refund I guess). Next up I called Tackle Warehouse to see about my big shipping refund of 5$ LOL and to see about a exchange. I had zero hold time and the guy looked up the shipping and offered to refund the shipping "no problem". Then I brought up the Revolution Shad (I got this to test out all three new shad swimbaits). I told him how I believe it's defective because it's VERY stiff the tale doesn't want to move well. I also told him about how I tested it in my bath tub and it didn't want to swim well. Honestly it probably swims better in the water rather then a bath tub but the BBZ and Tru Tungsten's swam TONS better in the bath tub. They also mention no used returns on the back of the order form so I wasn't going to test it out on the lake. I told TW I wanted to exchange the Revolution Shad. He told me no problem and put me on hold for a sec. He then came back and told me to keep the one I had and they would mail me another. I asked if I could pay the $3 difference for a fast sink BBZ shad in (Natural Shad). He countered with offering to just call it even Steven on the shipping and just ship out the BBZ shad with no charge! I told him this sounded great and thanked him very much. So two different companies but the same great attitude to helping out their customers! Personally I'll probably just make sure that most my lure orders go with TW from now on, because they have better descriptions of what color, sink rate, ect on orders. With that said Cabela's seems to have a fair amount of nice stuff besides tackle and there customer service really did there best to make me happy. It was my first time ordering from them so it made a impression.
  17. I have the River2Sea V-Joint Minnow and it's did well for me. I think I caught fish with it almost every time I had it on. I love the look of it and plan to fish it allot with other shad style swim baits. With that said it's certainly not a BIG swimbait.
  18. Any pics? OH and if you have any idea on prcing send me PM.
  19. Well I thought it's cool that this will be the post that makes me a full member her on Xmas day. I've enjoyed my time on here so much since joining. There are so many great people on here and it truly is the atmosphere I feel all fisherman should share. I've always fished my entire life with family and close friends. We shared good times and any fishing knowledge we had. I feel bassresource.com is the exact same thanks to good people like Paul, Senko77 and the many others on the board. I'd also like to thank Glenn on this Xmas day for creating this Mecca of fishing knowledge and a place for all these good people to gather. So to all Merry Xmas and I look forward to many more with you all on bassresource.com!
  20. Personally I think it's a little to dark for my tastes. I'd like to see more orange on the belly as well. But it certainly looks better then the crappy revolution shad bluegill pattern I got. What I might do to one is add some orange on the belly and add a little red to on the gill. I think part of the problem is the bluegill can look so different at different times of the year and at different places across the country. I sure with the spro had a bluegill pattern.
  21. I got my Tru-Tungsten, Spro BBZ, and the Revolution shad today. My conclusions so far is the Revolution Shad is down right horrible. I don't know if I got a lemon or what but it has no action at all. The Tru Tungsten bluegill model was defective out of the box. The pin was either shoved in to far or broke off. The Shad tru tungsten was the wrong fall rate. I did test it out in the bath tub to see it's action and it does have very nice action. Last is the Spro BBZ and it blew all the others out of the water. The swimming action was great but the fast sink probably helps. I only wish they had a bluegill pattern. So I plan on mailing back the Tru Tungsten's I bought for a slow/fast sink bluegill model and a Spro BBZ. I also plan on mailing back the Revolution Shad.
  22. I live in Southern IL can you come pick me up? ;D
  23. You do know they still are right? At least I've seen them restocked at dicks less then a couple months ago in the EX brand.
  24. Simp replied to ArcticCat500's topic in Fishing Tackle
That's kind of the point it's aimed at 2-5lb fish instead of 5-20lb fish like the BBZ-1 trouts ect. I'm sure big fish would eat it but the 7inch bluegill from them would be better for monster bass in my area. Personally I have 2 Tru tungsten's coming and the Reaction Shad. I also ordered the Spro model for my partner for xmas. I plan on testing all of them out to see what hold up better. I probably pick up the 7 inch version for big bass hunting for my birthday next month.
  25. I've always felt that said something about the Fat Free Shad. He pushed the strike king cranks like crazy and for it to come out he tied on a Fat Free Shad says something. Part of me also thinks it was probably just to give them something different though. I'll LOL if at the roadtrip there evreybody has a Fat Ffree shad and Stike King crank on with sexy shad LOL.
