great bassin' show
Seriously I think Paul should open up a Bass resources only Disney Land at his ponds and make us sign NDA to fish with him! ;D My other plan to find his spots is to input his home town into Google earth and start looking for ponds by him. ;D

Truly educational/informational bass fishing "game"?
Oh I have to disagree Black Bass on the NES was THE BOMB!!! I even have a crappy GameBoy Advance version of it today. What did it teach me about bass fishing? Stop and Go, and take you time with big fish!!

Lunker Lure Buzzbaits
Lunker Lure is based or at least was based out of the town I live in. They were actually the ones who invented the buzz bait and to this day my dad doesn't call them buzz baits but "Lunkers Lures". There is actually a episode on Hank Parkers fishing show where goes into being introduced to the Buzz Bait for the first time by I think the owner of Lunker Lure while fishing Rend Lake in Southern IL. IMHO Lunker Lure products are quality products but many times hard to find.

Is "Sexy Shad" really that good?
With a bait that big you might only catch a fish or two a year but the ones you do catch will be HUGE!!

Is "Sexy Shad" really that good?
We should make a "what to get your fishing buddy for Xmas" thread. I've looked threw my BPS mags several times for ideas and I have a $10 gift card for Dicks I could use. I thought about a baitcaster but he prefers spinning reels and he has tons of those. So I'm thinking about a lure kit or the new Spro swimbait. Any ideas??

Handheld GPS
I checked and the version for my area and it seemed to have all the lakes. How much better is the nav software compared to the stock version? I think I read about it already having some good fishing spots marked or something. I could see how this would be useful for trips to a new lake at times. I'm certainly wanting to see contour lines for the lake. I'd like for it to help me visualize what I'm casting at and with navigating my boat around points properly.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Handheld GPS
I did a search and found this thread and just wanted to say thanks! I think that Lowrance unit looks like it would be perfect for my needs. Also how nice is the Navionics software? I see them use it in some fishing shows and it looks great but didn't know if only a few lakes look that good as they show on TV.

Question about fishing standing timber
Oh you have no idea ;D!! I fish two lakes that have TONS of standing timber so bad on one lake whole sections are electric motor only. Just a month or two ago I was sitting on the deck of the boat navigating for my partner (I'd point where to go). Well IMHO he started to go to fast for my comfort (It can be scary on the deck of a john boat in these conditions.) when a large tree came up on us way to fast for us to avoid. I signaled to cut the motor (more like scream like a little girl) and the tree slid underneath the boat and I about fell out but our speed saved us in the end. He lifted the motor up and by some miracle we didn't get stuck, fall out, or f up the motor.

big fish of the year pics post them up!!
I gota say this has been my best year of fishing ever. I had got away from fishing for the most part until I went head first back into it this year. I'd say from may until september I went almost every other day and it paid off with well over a dozen fish 5+lbs. My big was this one at 7lbs and the smaller one was still over 6lbs.

Best Frog
My personal fav is the Spro Rojas frog. I've tried many and will continue to experiment with other frogs, but the normal Spro frog has proven itself to me. I put allot of time into perfecting my retrieve with that frog and it paid off with tons of big bass. Just go to the trips and outings section and do a search for "How many licks to the center of a spro frog?".

I hate Canada!

New Star Trek trailer out!
Well I waited to see any screens or new info for the most part until I could see a trailer in HD. Well I spoted the new Trek tailer on the Xbox marketplace in HD. So I downloaded it and it blew me away. This thing looks like it had a HUGE budget. IMHO it put Transformers CG to shame WOW.

3/8 or 1/2oz. fat profile cranks
Also check out the Rapala DT 06 I have a couple and love them 2 3/8 long 3/8 oz I got say I'm happy with my new DT6. I was out a week ago and I was killing my pops with a Fat Free shad and we was jigging and using a spinnerbait. After I got up a couple fish I told him to put on my DT6 with the blugill paint scheme. It wasn't long and he had caught up on fish with me.

I hurt my foot!
;D ya I was just looking at the foot and that's just how I described it.

I hurt my foot!
Thanks for all the advice and kind words guys. Most of the pain is located on the top part of the foot in front of the ankle knob. Putting weight on it like you normaly would causes instense pain. So I've stayed off it and my moms been great helping me out. I don't know what I would have done if she wasn't able to help me out like she has. I guess I would have broken down and went to the hospital then dealt with a big bill. It's starting to get better but it's not even close to good enough to walk on but it's not causing constant pain now. I'm certainly going to continue to read up on this and if I have any other flare ups I'm going to go to a doctor for long term treatment. BTW farmpond1 I'm actually right outside Carbondale.

Two a days
Yeah I often had issues with cold drafts making me sick. It would be all nice and warm in the gym. Then you would work up a good sweat only to then have students start showing up and letting in 30 degree cold air in from outside.

I hurt my foot!
That's what my mom thinks now and she's a RN. From what I read it sounds like the aspirin I was taking for some bad headaches could have led to this. Treatment seems to be to stay off the foot and take anti inflammatories. Thanks for the help guys at least now I have a better idea what is going on. The whole thing was weird and I hope it starts to improve. It reccomends caffien to help with acid levels so I guess I'll start drinking more sodas right now. On the downside the trips to the bathroom won't be fun!!.

I hurt my foot!
Well I've hurt my foot and I don't know how. Yesterday I woke up and my right foot was killing me. I tried to walk and I about killed over in pain. I keep trying to understand what I did and the only thing I can figure is I must have twisted it while sleeping or slept on it wrong. I don't have insurance so I can't go to the hospital so I'm stuck in bed for the most part. I was able to muster up a old crutch but only one and I swear I'm going to break my neck every time I have to go to the bathroom. Man I wish it was summer and I was working my frog over some grass. :'(

Dead Space - survival horror at its finest
I've got this game and I love it! I'm taking a small brake from it only because Gears of War2, Fallout, Fable 2 and a slew of other games have came out. No doubt it's a game you should play late at night with all the lights off and the surround sound turned up!

Two a days
We did them some before and after school but the one before school was very short and conted as our PE class.

Catching the big one
Something else out of the box you could try is to bluegill fish for a hour or so and then use them as bait. This willl proably work great in the spring time.
-
Catching the big one
Well Boss as long as the water temps stay up I'd say the frog is your best bet for a trophy. It's caught all my big fish over 5lbs this year(including my profile pic). It's also my go to bait and ponds with grass are perfect for frogs.

A question about fall
You know, diesecting a tree, a peice of brush or a laydown is still a lay down in any part of the country. So how does advice from the south on picking a laydown apart differ from the north on his initial question? Has cabin fever already set in with you R.I. guys. Ya'll been real testy lately. I'd say the difference may be the fish in Texas with warmer water are more likely to be roaming the shallows actively looking for food. The further north you go the sooner the bass are moving to a late fall/winter pattern. To me this would make me think the fish are becoming less active and looking for deeper water plus cover/structure. So it could effect a choice of a jig or a crank. It could effect what depth you should be looking for structure in. Do you need to land that jig on the fished head for it to bite or simply swim it just over the branch tips? With all that said this is still "fishing" and not simply "catching". A week ago I caught several fish in 20ft of water in submerged trees. Then today my friend fished a tourney and caught his limit on buzz baits and frogs. Personally I'd be looking for rocky areas. So far that's been my biggest pattern on lakes.
