  1. I hear ya but it's the package from Cali (TW)that's really late. The only bad weather for us besides the cold was from 5am to 11am Tuesday morning. My problem was it sat at Decatur IL for well over 24hrs and the only bad weather there was the time period listed. The package from cabela's came from WI I believe and got to Chicago Monday and was 300 miles south the next day at the local distro center. I figure it didn't get delivered because the ice backed up all the package delivery in out area. I guess my big gripe is I usually go ground and it seems to be just as fast but this time I paid the extra $$ for 2nd day air. I would have went for overnight if I had seen the TW special. As long as it gets here today (both packages are less then 10 miles away) and I get a shipping refund I'll be happy well not happy but I won't be mad either. On the USPS subject. I actually like the USPS as a shipper (ebay ect) and on the other end as well. My only gripe is they need to invest in a better tracking system for packages. I order a fair amount of stuff from Amazon Marketplace and even ebay and the USPS has always been cheap and fast. They also deliver my mail at 10am and USPS usually doesn't come until 6-7pm.
  2. What many forget is that baits are tools. The Red eye shad in sexy shad is I'm sure a great tool but it does you no good if you fishing it in the wrong situation (hard to do with this style of bait). The pros find a pattern and find a tool to best fish that pattern and the best make improvements to these tools. We often see them on TV telling us how great this tool is and how we can get in six months and look how many fish it's caught today. They hardy ever go into much detail about how they found this pattern and why it produces so well under their current conditions. The reason of course is because it's harder to sell that to the common consumer and easier to tell them you owe it all to this new lure and color. The people who would understand that info are also the ones he doesn't want to know this info. That's what IMHO makes this website and forum so amazing.

I prefer the Bass Magic ones over the Berkley. They're cheaper, IMHO have better action, and caught me more fish. Plus the new boxes come with a couple great swim bait hooks.
  4. For that price you could have just gone to a strip club. ;D
  5. Well I ordered some XMas stuff from Cabela's and TW at like 4am on the 18th and 5am the 19th. I went ahead and paid extra for second day air to make sure it gets here before xmas. I got notice early on the 19th that the second order had shipped. The delivery dates ended up being the same which is weird considering one was ordered the day before the other. I didn't care because they were both suppose to be here the 23rd. I followed the packages from their origin across the country. I always think it's fun to see where everything goes. Then today I notice the package I ordered first hadn't made it to it's local distro center and wasn't out for delivery while the second package was out for delivery. In fact it had just sat at a town 5 hours north of me for almost 48 hours.I waited until about 1pm to give UPS a call. The nice lady told me the online tracking hadn't updated with all the info yet and it had left for the local distro a hour so so ago. I asked if the package doesn't make it today am I entitled to a shipping refund? She checked some info and told me yes if my packages don't make it today because I ordered 2nd day air that I will. I file some type of claim I think and she said they notify the retailer to refund the shipping charges to me. For both orders shipping added up to about $30 so that's nice but it leaves me a headache tomorrow. I have Xmas parties tomorrow night and relatives coming over to stay. It kind of ruins the surprise when they see a TW or Cabela's box. Now I just hope it gets here!
  6. [edit][/edit] Mattm also hit it perfect here. I don't understand the thinking of "well it's only his half sister". There is no difference, I have a half sister and frankly there is no such thing. She is my sister period! I have the exact same feelings for her as I do my other sister. I'd also advise you to never refer to her as his half sister for two reasons. The first is you could make her feel like she somehow doesn't mean as much to him and I assure you that's not the case. The second is your friend may perceive any comments from you about this as you think it's ok to possibly treat her bad because "she's only his half sister". While at the same time if your good friends with him there is a reason. He likes you, probably has a high opinion of you and trusts you. The last thing makes it incredibly important that you talk to his sister to make it clear you have to tell him the status of you relationship. Let him know you care for her, want to make her happy, and treat her right. This situation has to be one where you jump in head first or not at all. You can't became friends with benefits with your best friends little sister. Now having friends with benefits with three sisters on the other hand is very cool I can tell ya. ;D
  7. Walmart also won't match their online prices and it frustrates me to no end. This can often lead me to simply select in-store pick up at many places. This way I pay the online price for sure and I don't have to pay for shipping. I actually find myself ordering from TW more then BPS because they offer free shipping on orders over 50$ and I don't have to pay taxes either. So a $100 order might save me $20 in charges simply by choosing TW over BPS. BTW Glenn you need to work on them to become a sponsor I'd love to have some of that cash get kicked back to you.
  8. Well I guess the bait monkey helped me out tonight instead of the rally monkey! ;D I picked the bears to win and they had one heck of a comeback to pull it out. The guy who was ahead of me for the week picked Green Bay and so I won the week and $70!! So now I'm racking my brain for things I could buy. Maybe a Tru Tungsten Trout or bluegil, or how about a new fish finder or handheld GPS. A new crankbait rod and reel wouldn't be to bad either. I figure I have $250-$420 comming my way and possibly even more if I win any cash for week 17 but I'm not counting on it.
  9. Ya I need to check dates Ild loved to go to one. MHD or whatever it's called now has been running AC/DC No Bull! and it's great. I now have it saved on my HD DVR for when I feel like rocking out!!
  10. I created a entire thread to deal with this possible issue. It's on page 2 now and nobody has responded but I'm not surprised considering the weather. I've ordered some from all the brands and will stick with the most durable.
  11. Well I've had allot of time on my hands with it being the slow season for fishing. So I've put that time into something productive, my NFL pickem league!!! So far I've won close to $200 on weekly pay outs alone this year. Now I'm super psyched because I was tied for second with 3 other guys and 16 points back of first starting this week. Then came weeks 16 and I nailed most of the upsets and that is going to lead me to 1st or second for the week (another payout). The bigger deal is that I beat all the other second place guys by 25-30 points and the guy in first place by 21 so far. So that means going into week 17 I'll be leading into the last week and virtually assured at least second (knock on wood). So what's the big deal? Well first pays $350 and second $180!!! I think I hear the bait monkey calling!! ;D
  12. Hunt4Hawgs there is no doubt a good number of them have shipped to retailers. Sp hopefully when you ordered from TW you saw a 3+ or something by them instead of 12/29 date. I'm betting you saw a instock number like 3+ because from what I can remember from the other thread you ordered early that morning when they came in stock. They have since been selling out from what I can tell. My order for them at Cabela's have already shipped and will be here the 23rd. Now if the weather would get out of the teens.
  13. Hate to be a downer here but I had a classmate in school who I kid you not was decapitated doing this. I was very young when it happened but she somehow slid underneath the car or truck pulling her and somehow lost her head.
  14. It is $10 for a two pack. Not sure if you were aware of that. That's certainly a little more in my range but still a little high. Maybe I'll try a pair and if it shows it can out preform lower priced jigs maybe I'll use them for my club tournaments each month.
  15. They look great but it's to rich for my blood at $10 a pop for a lure that I'd be lucky to not loose two of on a single fishing trip.

  17. A line up of fishing shows some of us might be missing is actually on a religious channel. I have Directv and I get this channel called NRB that has a pretty good slate of shows. Off the top of my head some are Fishers of men, Jimmy Houston, Christian Angler, and Linders Fishing edge. The other day Christan Angler or Fishers of men visited Lee Sissons lure factory and they spent some time asking about his career and how he started making lures for Bagley. It was a very neat episode and one crankbait fans would eat up. So as long as you can stomach the Southern Baptist message that they plug every 5 min you can enjoy some good fishing shows.
  18. Just thought I'd let the word get out I think today is the first day they started shipping.
  19. I'd also like to include the spro frog with vegetation as a big bass pattern!
  20. Chug Bugs with a orange bottom are great for me in spring/early summer.
  21. Your profile picture fits you well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D are you a tourney fisher? or are you just plain rich? or rather, have you been struck with the BaitMonkey syndrome like all of us? Well you have to have one for Bluegill, Crappie, Bass, Walleye, Strippers, Muskie and lets not forget a salt water model!! ;D ;D BTW Can I have one? :'( please.... :'(
  22. A word of caution on that Field and Stream rod for you. I have that same rod, length, IM7 and everything. It has a flaw you should keep in mind. I have broken the cork knob off at the end on two of them this year. Granted I was frog fishing and putting it under some serious stress but I recommend you keep your hand high enough on the cork handle that your lower hand isn't hitting the "knob" or where the cork changes at the end of the rod. hmmm so the knob will fall off huh? i wonder if i should take it back? is that the only flaw? how did it handel the fish? its funny, i was trying to find reviews online about this rod and i couldnt until after i bought it. Oh it handled a ton of hawgs for me this summer! I fish allot of ponds with tons of grass and so I really let loose on heaving my frogs. I'd also use my stomach as a butt on some viscous hook sets that led to one breaking on a hook set. This was the only problem I had with this rod and Dicks was good to me with exchanges. One thing you could do would be to take your receipt in and add the warranty coverage for like $5. That way if you have a problem they just mail you a gift card for the original purchase price. IMHO it's a fairly good low price rod but I do consider the knob to be a defect in the overall design and not a isolated problem. Like I said though as long as your aware of it you will probably be ok. I never mistreated the rods that broke but I certainly put them in a situation where allot of stress and force was used often in hauling many 5+ pound fish out of HEAVY vegetation. Including the 6 punder in my Bio pic. OK SIMP 2 THINGS !!!! 1 - thanks for the heads up :-) 2 - take me fishing with you!! 8-) well i havent taken any tags off the rod yet so maybe i'll take it back?? the rod looks good and is a good price. if it handles the big bass you catch its gotta be alright for the most part. Dicks has another model IM7 that was $10 more, i wonder if it has the same prob? Well I'd say if that knob is plastic instead of cork go for the exchange. While if it's cork don't bother and just keep on eye on your hand placement. Now if you want to get some hawgs this summer I'd recommend you buy the Dean Rojas spro frog learn to walk it then find some grass!

  24. I thought with seeing some posts with people talking about what appears to be a fairly high failure rate on these styles of baits. That it might be a good idea for us to have a thread that we as a community can use to judge how these baits hold up in general and if one brand seems to hold up better then others. With that said I'd like to have the thread take a analytical prospective and not a opinion based one. So if we can simply post the following data to keep things short and sweet then after enough input a more fact based conclusion can be made. Brand- Sink Rate- Numbers owned- Failures/Broken Baits- Amount of time in water before failure- Do you feel the lure held up well for it's price and how did it fail if it did?- Simply copy and past the questions into your post and respond if you would. BTW Merry XMAS and may we all have a BBZ1 under the tree!! Spro BBZ1, out now, MSRP-19.99 Tru-Tungsten Matt & Ish Tru-Life, coming Jan 09, MSRP-19.99 Reaction Strike Revolution Shad, out now, MSRP-16.99
