  1. Very easy list for me, the top 3 baits that dominated this year were. Jig & Craw Lipless Crank Drop shot, specifically with a roboworm.
  2. canon t2i with a 50mm f/1.4 lens, it's kind of sad but it's one less distraction haha.
  3. Let me start off with a quick story. I gave up fishing at the end of this season because of academic reasons. I've long since sold off all of my rods and reels but I still have my tackle in storage. Today I got really bored so I decided to photograph some of my favorite lures just for kicks. mods please move this if necessary. 6. It's all personal preference although some people find it sacrilegious kinda like swapping an LS1 into a Nissan 240sx.
  7. splash some water with the rod tip, works every time. ;D
  8. people have reported issues with the paint chipping, guides grooving from braid and rods snapping. i on the other hand have had no problems with my carrot stick. i have the 7ft crankin' stix and it's a wonderful rod. it can even serve double duty as a spinnerbait rod. if i were you i'd look into the 7ft over the 6ft 9
  9. Good luck GMAN! Give me a call if you need anything, I only live a few miles from LSC.
  10. I was out there last week, smallies are on fire! launched at the 9mile ramp and shot up to 11 mile. fish were located around 9-11fow don't be afraid of the murkier water. as for tubes try different colors until you find the most productive one. i found that a strike king coffee tube in green pumpkin with pearl white belly worked best. i also shoved some megastrike into the tube and all around it. lipless cranks were just yo-yo'd or slowly cranked. Most guys around here use rapala shad raps in baby bass and silver/black because their body shapes resemble gobies which is the primary forage. some say dragging drop shots is even more effective then tubes but i haven't tried it yet. gman i'll pm you a link to the local stclair forum. a couple of guys have reported 100+ fish days. I had 5 within a couple hours the biggest weighing 4.9lbs and none under 3lbs. the way those guys were gettin' 100+ fish days is they followed the school around, i floated over it and got a quick glimpse on the depth finder then all 3 of us on the boat had a fish on at the same time. by the time we landed all 3 we had lost the school.
  11. I tried out some snaps this weekend for my cranking rod. The snaps made switching lures a lot easier but you pay the price of sensitivity. I found that while using the snap I couldn't feel my lure's action at times. I attribute it to another link in the chain that leads back to the rod. All in all I always check my line after every couple casts and after every fish for fraying. I usually find myself retying quite often so it makes no difference in convenience anyways.
  12. heres a better quality picture from my friend's digi cam.
  13. Took a road trip down to Mogadore, Ohio to fish for the weekend since Michigan's season opener isn't for another week. On the first day (Saturday) the air temperature was in the low 30's to high 20's and the water temperature was around 65. We saw a lot of small males up close to shore and marked a bunch of females on and around drop offs. We didn't do to well on Saturday, it was extremely difficult to travel anywhere because the lake is electric only and battling 25mph winds with a 30lb thrust trolling motor is ridiculous. ;D ;D A few times throughout the day it started to snow and actually hail a little but we toughed it out and managed 8 fish the best two weighing in at 2.6lbs and 2.5lbs. All of my fish were caught yo-yoing a 1/2 oz sinking Sebile Flatt Shad in Green Halo. Sunday morning we launched at 7am. The air temperature was about the same as Saturday and so was the water temp. The only difference is it was extremely calm with no wind. We positioned our boat in front of a nice 5ft drop off we had marked the previous day and I made a couple extremely long casts past it almost to the shore line. I was yo-yoing a Sebile Flatt Shad in Green Halo, the same lure that caught me all of my bass the previous day. On the 3rd or 4th cast I was letting the Flatt Shad flutter down and as I went to lift it up again I felt tension, reeled in what little slack there was and leaned into a nice soft sweeping hookset and the fight was on! The fish cooperated and started making its way to the boat slowly. As it got closer I felt it making an attempt to jump so I put more pressure on it so it couldn't go airborne and spit my lure. As it got closer I decided to swing it onto the boat. Just when it broke the surface my fishing partner yelled ITS A MONSTER! Thats when I realized this could just possibly be my new PB and just as it made it past the hull she shook her head and the hook came undone and she fell floppin all over the deck. I dropped my rod and carefully lipped her and placed her on the scale, the scale shot up to 5.4lbs and then slowly trickled back down to 5.1 where it stayed. Then I snapped a quick picture and off she went. It still hasn't set in yet that I've officially joined the 5lb club. Here in Southeast Michigan a 5lb LMB is quite uncommon so please excuse my excitement over a measly 5lber. ;D This totally made up for freezing my butt off in the cold for 2 days. anyways pictures speak a thousand words ya go.
  14. It's been real nice to me. Cooks and cleans and even gets a little wild in bed. But seriously it's wonderful, well balanced and light. Light enough that when i'm pitching a 1/2oz weight my rod feels extremely tip heavy because of the weight lol.
  15. Just wanted to know which steez rod and or reel do you own and what do you use it for. I have the steez compile-x 7ft heavy fast and steez 100sha reel. I primarily use it for jigs and worms and my heavier t-rigs. I occasionally toss on a smaller swimbait once in a long while.
  16. typical i have a bunch of them, some of them even flake while in storage from rubbing against each other. >
  17. rage tail frog rage tail shad possibly rage tail eliminator thank you come again.
  18. I also forgot, I started using reaction innovations sweet beavers when the fish are more finicky and want a bait with little to no action. You can never get those Rage Tails to stay still!
