SUCCESS!!!!! finally
SO I finally cracked the patern at one of the two small lakes ive been fishing, well, i really cracked the pattern at the pond..... nobles pond in jackson. its a small private pond that ive been fishing at last time i was there, my girlfriend discovered that dousing nightcrawlers with my spike it pen pulled everybass in the lake to her...... so i tossed a few paddle tail swim baits in and retrieved, then twicth retrieved, then deadsticked, sct to mimic a fleeing injuried baby bass...... and i caught a monster for this little lake....... she ate it, and man did she fight! i got my revenge, my gf made me rebait her hook all last trip, so she got to unhook my monster, hence the gloves. this big girl came on a storm paddle tail in baby bass.... SO PROUD! ;D

kaynoe...... good buy or not?
no no no..... lol that kyak looks awesome. deep welled and sits above style..... but i require the ability to fish in a vertical world..... lots of fliping and pitching into distant hard to spot holes.. thats the idea with this thing. pictures to follow..........

kaynoe...... good buy or not?
ok, so im looking for a small, lightweight, portable fishing platform. thats not only adaptable to different situations but cheap and durable. i think i might have found it. i rejected the basshunter minipontoons, but got into kyaks and conoes. i think i found a good answer, but i want you guys to tell me what you think. Its the Field & Stream KyNoe. its part kyak part canoe. its a one person lightweight canoe style boat that is wide enough to support me standing up. and seems like a good deal. I want to put on a few aftermarket rod holders, and and anchor. plus sum hardware to make it easy to tie off. and possibly a trolling motor and fishfinder....... i just dont know. the trolling motor scares me because its heavy, and it would have to be side mounted which means higher chance of tipping..... but it seems like a good answer. even if i didnt do the trolling motor, canoes are easy enough to paddle, the motors just an extra aux. to keep my arms from tiring out all day. what do you guys think? worth it or not. even just in the begining. it seems like a good idea! let me knwo!

Shallow water the problem??
man i feel your pain, ohio shallow water bass fishing can be rough this time of year. weather paterns up north here change so much, and the bass seem to me to be more tempermental the shallower they live. I know what you mean about the depth a long ways out too. theres a local lake that i have barely fished but if you know the waters as well as some people do, and you count your steps just right, you can almost walk out into the middle of this lake and its only up to your waist..... heres my approach, i shore fish in a small natural muddy lake, where the water slowly rolls off to a max depth of 10ft. but i fish the shore religiously. while im horrible at hooking up, i get tons of strikes on topwaters really shallow....... if that bites off i switch to small presentation finese baits, small shakey and trick worms are my favorite, but ive been doing well with whacky rigging some really random baits too. I LOVE whacky rigging lifelike minnow style stick baits and tossing them along shallow pads and things like that. it gives a really realistic look of a baitfish dying. water clarity is the big diff for you tho. mylake almost always has chocolate brown water. so i have to fight to get my bait noticed. let me know how it works, alot of these guys fish southern impoundments. and this little northern lakes with these little bass are a whole different world. let me know what works, ill try it on my home lake sometime.

Does this fit here man I've got the bug bad
i second the i suck at fishing but love it approach to life.

girlfriend outfished me 5 to none
so i took my girl fishing the other day at that pond i just discovered. I was trying weightless worms with lots of bites but had trouble hooking up...... but, beth(my girlfriend) on the other hand had GREAT success with bobber fishing crawlers. problem being she will only hook live bait if its minows. so i set her up, she cast, and im setting up my stuff when she hooks into a nice catfish..... and you guessed it, i had to unhook all her fish that day. and rebait her hook..... at the end of the day i hadnt caught a thing, but she got 3 good catfish, a great bluegill for that pond, and an AWESOME largemouth that gave her the best fight of her life. I honestly enjoyed watching her freak out every time that bobber disapeared more than i ever coulda had if i had caught those fish myself. she was so proud of herself. and i was really hyped when she got that bass in close and i saw that flash of silver and green instead of catfish red clay color. her she is! my baby! and the fish that gave us another great story to tell....... (dont even bother with the glove comments, she wont mess with fish unless shes wearing one. lol)

a few ?s on aquatic vegitation
heres the pond btw..... beautiful little thing in a private rich alotment..... and yes i obtained permission to fish there! lol

a few ?s on aquatic vegitation
so..... my local lake just had a MASSIVE algea bloom. like every single inch of that lake is solid with green algea..... I have NO idea how to get past this, as if it wasnt bad enough that the lakes water clarity is always really dirty, now theres algea everywhere..... the only plus i can see to this is that some of my bigger baits are making alot of disturbance in the water, sucking alot of algea down with them....... is this a good tool or what?! and what should i do to fish now?! secondly- i went to a local private pond i recently got permission to fish, its BEAUTIFUL but like nothing ive ever fished before.... for this part of ohio, the water is really clear! im guessing that thebottom was about 4feet downwhere i could see, but theres TONS of hydrilla all along the shore...... and lots of scum.... Im not sure how to fish the hydrilla, ive been dragging jigs, cranks, spinnerbaits, and even big worms through the paths i find and thats drawn a few strikes, but the locals told me that floating baits really get them. the day i went i only took a medium heavy rod and alot of bigworms and jigs..... so i didnt have the means to try this, but my bandit 100 series got alot of hits in rootbeer chart. and the chrome black back patterns! buzzers and poppers got me nowhere.... so..... whats the best way to tackle those hydrilla beds?1 with the scum, i got a good little largemouth off of a nories bug rigged up on a jungle screwlock jig that i pitched ontop then twitched off the edges..... even caught a big bullfrog thatway. but im used to fishing pads.... so ive got alot of horny toads.... are these useful here? this stuffs thick so they really dont get the time to build much splash before they hit another clump....... and for sum reason it seemed that the fish were only holding on the outter edges of the scum..... flipping jigs into internal holes didnt produce any responses........ so yea.... algea, hydrilla, and scum...... what do you guys think?! ;D

calling all ohio anglers!
oh come one guys..... help me out here! lol

Whats the strangest way you've seen people fishing?
this guy serios as can be, slapping a plastic minnow or something on the surface over and over and over again on a heavy action rod and reel....... hed just whip it forward and smack it on the surfce in front of the dock right in front of him.... maybe three or four feetout...... he wore out after about a half hour..... idunno what he was trying to do... maybe kill a bug or something!?

bullfrog ate my bait!
actually, considering i was tossing it on an ultralight it wasnt bad.... lol for a frog of course...... the funny thing was that i was fishing it on a spot remover, so he hit it when it sliped off the side of the scum...... and ew.... i like seafood, never did take to the taste of frog legs....

a general complaint
that did make sense and like ive said before.... it means alot to me that you guys even bother to respond! you guys really are great, i just kinda needed to vent that i was unhappy with a few choices being made...... so i guess that concludes it! thanks again guys! no hard feelings i hope!

bullfrog ate my bait!
random note, just for kicks.... while fishing a private pond yesterday, a bullfrog hoped outta nowhere, and sucked my nories bug that i was about to twitch off the scum and into the water..... it sucked it in, dove for cover and a few seconds later was dangling in front of me..... he friggin' ate it! i got it out and tossed him in and he TOOK OFF!!!!!! just wonderd if anyone else has had this happen!?

a general complaint
ok so heres where i defend myself..... yes i am a newbie on this forum... i am not however a newbie to forum pages...... the particulars werent going to get plastered here.... but in order to defend my point i think its nesc... I posted a post which will remain anony. (until someone goes back and looks) that was about hopw to understand the patern on a local lake-it not only involved the use of terms and certain baits, but the kind of lake, the conditions, the time of day, the way im fishing it, how to handle the weather, how to handle concentrated angler pressure...ect.... it got moved to the fishing tackle section....... it was in no way a question about fishing tackle, it was about answering my fundamental question of how to go about fishing the lake...... yes, that did include discussing tackle, but the topic was so much more than that..... It doesnt mater who did it, or why really (because this topic is more about me voicing concern on the issue than it is about me "Blasting" anyone becase my post got moved...) someone at somepoint read my post, didnt think it through completely because they only read the part abouit what baits i was throwing and moved my post to another section. *MY OPPINION* I think it would have been best suited to get proper responses and answers if it would have been ieft in the general section....... it was in fact a VERY general (or broad depending on how u look at it) question that was by no means aimed at asking what kind of baits i should use- but instead how i should go about fishing the lake in general and in ALL ASPECTS! whats next if i include a location for the lake in the first paragraph is it going to instantly be moved to its perspective location in the northeastern fishing pages..... and btw- i posted this string in the general section to prove my point....... not to mention that it wouldnt get anywhere near as many views in the everything else section..... but thank you for your input- and so noone blasts me.... I am an advocate for the mods..... without them the pages would be a mess..... i think that they are a really important part of the forums..... but...... this is the third or fourth time that ive seen something like this happen..... and it isnt just on my posts of course.... but ya.... thats my defense.... and i want to emphasize agian that i wasnt blasting anyone. I just wanted to voice my oppinion.... so. thanks to the mods for caring enough to respond. that actually means alot to me. It woulda been alot easier for them to just brand me as a trouble maker and ban me. You guys do a great job, I just think that someone(or someones) should be a little more specific in chosing which posts get shuffled around and to where! btw-on a random note, i caught a bullfrog yesterday on a 6inch worm..... thats a first for me!!!!!

a general complaint
I just wanted to put it out there.... as a member of the forum, that I think that some of the strings being "moved" from category to category are kind of rediculous...... I dont want to go into details, but if anyone else agrees I think its our duty as members of this online community to speak up...... so....... ive exercised my right to free speech. does anyone agree with me!? i dont know.... if not I do want it to be known that Im by no means "cutting" on the staff..... I just think that its kind of our job as the people who make this site work to say when something is bothering us! Sorry if i offended anyone..... I meant it totally out of respect and to prove said point..... I want to thank the staff of bassresource.com for allowing us all to have access to such an AWESOME pool of knowledge and advice! ~sincerly~

i cant break the patern!
number one..... night fishing.... outta the question.... read dudes.... lol..... the lake closes at drak, and the boat has to be back at the marina way before then........ number two...... the weightless senko trick has really worked yet....... i have gotten smacked on the spinnerbaits, bu theres only one or two edges straight enough for me to really utilize a spinnerbait..... I LOVE fishing big worms..... theyre just a blast to fish...... but im not really sure what im supposed to be doing with them. sofar, my choice is a zoom monster in black....... the popper was my first lure i figured out how to use..... it got me bites but they were few and far between, I mean......... HERES A GOOD QUETION TO ANSWER..... How do I fish the popper in with the rest of my non dawn/dusk hour patterns? and two...... how should i use that kreature, i actually just bought a pack of the ...... um... konamis bug?! is that what its called? it was cleranced and looked fun, but i havent gotten it to the lake... would someone please explain how to rig it up and how to fish it?! thanks guys! keep the input coming!

i cant break the patern!
I just got the location of that cove like spot i mentioned... its whereive had most of my success...... dont let the look of the rest of the lake fool you tho....... its by no means how it looks most of the year.... its usually so clogged with pads you cant get to the shore anwhere inbetween the two furthest piers/docks on the one side of the lake! heres the coords. 40* 47'59.12"N 81* 27'10.66"W google earth it.... let me know what you think!

calling all ohio anglers!
Im offically putting out a call for all ohio bass anglers.......... I need help.. no scratch that, Im begging for help Im stumped, my main lake has me stumped. I have access to one lake, because its close, its convienent and I refuse to admit defeat to this darned body of water.... Sippo Lake, Canton/Perry, Ohio If anyone knows anything about it, or someone wants to help me crack the code here...... PLEASE let me know!

i cant break the patern!
ok, so Ive given up on trying to break the patern.......... i always com plain about this lake, but im determined to figure it out. theres bass there. i see them, ive caught them.... i just cant make them bite anywhere near enough! heres the rundown the lake: Sippo Lake, Canton/Perry, OH roughly 90acres. Natural mudbottomed lake with medium sized rocks with lots of space between them about 3-5feet off shore the whole way around the lake. Water clarity is practically non-existent. Lilly pads almost the entire way around, mostly the Ohio tall pads growing around 6-12inches over the surface and packed in tight. some low surface pads, but not alot. NO natural cover in the lake that I know of. There is a shallow end of the lake but the pads OWN it. and any open water isnt accesible. there is a small shallow run up thats surrounded by posts in the water and TONS of pads, but gets overrun by ducks and geese most of the year. The lakes only about 10-12 feet deep in the midsection. And the wind blows longways along the lake..... no wadding is allowed, only boats, or shore fishing, I use a rental boat and dont own any electronics.... -Ive had success with zoom horny toads on the pads in general. worms, jigs, cranks, and tubes havent proved successful so far.... my spinnerbaits get smacked, but never hit solidenough to hookup.... -forage in the lake includes TONS of bluegill, some crappie, and a small percentage of noticable crawfish..... there are some shinners in there too that somehow escaped the carp and bass. theres one large school of carp... and a decent percentage of channel cats. some big some small. Ive fished the entire shoreline/lillypad lines of the lake, and come up emptyhanded except in one spot... a cove sheltered by the wind by a grove of trees and it has surface pads and tall pads surrounding it. But when the zoom hornytoad bite is off.... the lake seems off. I dont understand this lake at all..... I mean maybe its because Im just still really new to fishing, but Its just wierd. Ive fished it at hignoon, early mornings....evening....(night is outta the question the park is closed at sundown) I just cant figure it out. Ive taken everytip thats been thrown my way and atleast given it a fair shot..... short of having somebody drop thier rig in and sonar the entire lake looking for some super bass sweetspot I dont know what to do!? the only thing i havent tried is working the deepest section of the lake, mainly because id be fishing it blind! Would someone please help me crack this dang pattern! the fish turn off bigtime when theres storms, and they short smack everything!? ive only gotten four or five solid bites in the last two years ive seriously fished there. I just dont get it! If anyone wants to come out here and put a boat in the water and show me how its done id be MORE THAN HAPPY TO TAKE A LESSON! let me know what you think. recap: the lures that get bites are.. -the ocassional popper -zoom hornytoads(& other frogs) -some spinnerbaits get smacked -the ocassional shakey worm -BRIGHT COLORS underwater -natural and softer colors ontop HELP!!!!!!!

Lizards for Spot Removers and shakey heads
Micro, good picture, i was actually about to do the same thing.... I like using the spot remover to hop around the pad beds on my lake..... the bagley shakey works great too..... but i dont use it when i need the bait to stay upright because it falls over..... i use the shakey for faster applications than the spotremover..... but theyre both great!
