Anyone down in NC fishing Hyco lake and Mayo reservoir?
Sounds good, I'll look him up and yes Hyco does have a hot water discharge but I have also heard that Mayo does as well.

Got a couple of decking questions
Well here lately I have been putting together my new rig for this coming fishing season and had a question about its width. Its a 1432 flat bottem jon and I was wondering, would it still be stable enough to withstand a raised front deck? Last year my buddy bought a new 1436 jon and we decked it no problem and took it to the lake and it was just as stable as my old 12 foot vbottem, so could losing 4 inches really make that big of a difference between mine and his boat? I only ask this because if I do deck it, I don't think it would be wise to take it to the lake in these cold water temperatures to try it out and have an accident

Anyone down in NC fishing Hyco lake and Mayo reservoir?
Since I can barely find any info on Mayo on the net, I was wondering if anyone has been there or to Hyco and what the fishing is like. I'm hoping I can get down to Mayo this sunday since we are going to have a few warm days in a row and maybe catch some bass on a shallow bite

Briery Creek and HP limit
Very true. I also like to 10 H.P. limit on briery being that it is a dangerous lake if you don't know much about it and during the spring time I would like to see as few people as possible because it is a madhouse on the weekends. Sooo I'm glad I have a small boat and 9.9 hp motor ;D

Briery Creek Lake...
I haven't been around for a while but I see this thread hasn't been alive for a while...Hopefully this spring I'm going to make a 2 or 3 day trip to Briery with my new jon boat and goodies ;D

Wreckage!
Thanks Glenn! Yeah I came out of the situation with a seperated shoulder and some minor bruises and cuts besides that and maybe some unresolved anger I'm doing fine

Hunting Season!!!
How goes the whitetail hunting so far this year guys? So far I've seen around 30 deer while in the stand(mostly doe) and shot a little scrub 6 pointer who was literally inches away from the bottem of my stand smelling of some scent defogger I had out. here he is

Wreckage!
So I have a few pictures of a wreck I was in over the summer thus with work, dealing with insurance(and still am), and hunting season explains where and what I've been dealing with for the past few months. 2004 toyota tacoma rolled 3 times...you know when you get the anger inside thinking that some people should just not be on the roads? well when a lady pulls out in front on you on a main highway and your going about 60 MPH and you total loss your vehicle you'll know what I mean > lol BTW I didn't get a picture but my rear axel was laying on the pavement after the wreck and a few of my leaf springs were completely bent into a "U" shape. :'( I miss my yota!

Need some advice...2005 F-150 4.6 liter
So guys I had an accident a while back and total loss my last truck and now have to buy another and wanted to move up to a full size ride for the V8 and towing capacity. Now I have a found a 2005 F-150 STX single cab 4X4 with towing package and the 4.6 liter V8 and was wondering what you guys thought about this motor and would be enough to tow a 16-19 ft aluminum or fiberglass boat? I would rather have the 5.4 liter triton in another ford but this truck is selling for a such a good price that I don't know if I can resist ;D -Eddie

Leesvile Resivoir Virginia
You mean putting in at the ramp where if I was to take a left out of the cove I would be headed towards smith mountain, right? or is there another boat ramp up the a lake a little further?
-
Leesvile Resivoir Virginia
Wow sounds like you don't particulary care for leesville too much lol but I really liked the lake due to low boat traffic but yes there was trash and trees and crap floating around but it wasn't too bad where we fished. I put in at the lower boat ramp off of 29 which was a mistake on my part because I really wanted to get up to the ramp near the dam and come down the lake a bit. The water level increases and decreases was very weird for me at first, it looked as if I was floating in 3 different directions at one time when I was on the main channel I still would like to try it again and see what happens. Keep in mind I'm pushing a 12 foot jon boat with a 9.9 so im not blasting up the lake too fast so the small sticks and trash don't really bother me too bad.

Leesvile Resivoir Virginia
Anyone around here fish Leesvile much or at all? I went for the first time this afternoon and really liked the way the lake looked and the water temp was around 70 degrees almost everywhere I fished but didn't have any luck but hey it was the first time I had been there. Still a good learning experience and the lake was very quiet and peaceful without much boat traffic at all. All in all a fun trip but was wondering if anyone around here had any advice for me on this lake. Thanks! -Eddie 8-)

Should my boat get up on plane?
I have the same problem with my 12 foot V with a johnson 9.9. I also have a deck, TM, battery, and a pretty good amount of gear and with 2 people I can't get on plane either and I'm guessing I'm getting around the same speed you are, it definently sucks when hitting decent size wakes.

Briery Creek Lake...
Yeah it was...I'm not scared to say it was 35 - 45 boats there Saturday. The 701 ramp was rediculous, I had to find a spot in the grass to park. I didn't even get a chance to see a fish on the bed much less catch one.

OBX surf fishing report...who has a some info??
So I'm leaving this thursday to head down to the OBX near Oregon inlet to do some camping and fishing. I have looked at a few sites and haven't really found any up to date fishing reports for surf and pier fishing and was wondering, do any of you guys know whats biting? I'll be there with a few buddies for two and a half days and we are hoping to get into some fish. Any info would be great, thanks!

My first....
Striped bass! Caught this joker out of my local river(dan river) a week and a half ago. Crappy pic but she weighed in at 7.5 on the scale and yes I did practice catch and release. She was very early getting up the river this year coming up from Kerr resivoir, came as a big shock to me as I was fishing for spawning carp. Caught on a 1/4 ratLtrap ;D

Briery Creek Lake...
Well I know its suppose to be pretty warm friday night and around 90 saturday so maybe the water will warm up a bit. Yeah he also sent me a picture this moring, man that thing was a monster!

Briery Creek Lake...
Ok I've been slacking on making a trip to briery but this saturday will be one of the only days I can make it for a while and I'm hoping the catching is going to be plentiful. Im going to burn up the shallows all day with spinners chatters and wacky rigged worms, so hopefully I'll have some luck. On another note, I fished Mayo Lake in NC last saturday and found water in the high 60s and there were tons of bass spawning and plently of pickeral biting. So what is Briery's temperature around now a days?

Briery Creek Lake...
I'm finally set on going sunday. Should be very nice weather, just wish it would be a little warmer the night before.

Briery Creek Lake...
Oh ok I see. I was going to head up to Briery but I think I'm going to hit up lake Mayo in NC because its a little closer to my house and see if the bass will be moving up shallow and if not maybe I'll catch a few nice size pickeral. I think I'll still give Briery a few more weeks to warm up before I make the trip.

Briery Creek Lake...
Looks like this sunday is going to be a great day to be on the water with temps in the mid 70s and being around 50 the night before. Wayne are you heading out any this weekend?
