Daiwa Exceler trigger rod?
So I went to my local store to buy some soft plastics and a semi decent trigger rod and I found the Daiwa Exceler for $31.00. I went ahead and bought one since I have a BPS tourney special reel laying around the house and was wondering if anyone else has this type of rod and what I can expect from it? I got the 6' M for spinners and and top water lures and I'm hoping this will be a decent little set up for the money I have invested in it.

Jets have a 15 to 1 chance of even making to the super bowl now with brett....Green Bay has a 10 to 1 chance without him! lol ;D

Briery Creek Lake...
I wish I could be there tomorrow, I think we could do a lot better now that we have got some experience fishing there and maybe you could show us some pointers on where to travel from the ramp. We had most of our luck on baby bass flukes and I caught one off of a C-riged senko. I'm planning on coming back up there either saturday or sunday depending on whether I go to buggs island or not saturday.

Briery Creek Lake...
lol yeah I actually forgot to tell the story of tree hell cove....Once apon a time we were trolling through some "open" water to get out of a cove and ran over a slightly submersed tree that was barely visible to the eyes and the tree actually stop the boat and held us in place like an anchor for 20 minutes! Finally I came up with the bright idea of using my river anchor as a type of grapling hook to hook onto another tree and pull us off. I did all of this in 90 degree heat....very VERY fun if I do say so myself

I voted brett because I have a feeling that after this season with NY he will either have a career ending injury (madden curse lol) or he will be an average QB just like the past 3 seasons he played with GB besides this past season and will want to retire again and then probably try and come back out of retirement yet again to move to another team...I think its rediculous that pro players like brett even have the chance to come back out of retirement. I think after they officially retire they should be done for and cannot come back. Its really annoying to me personally because every time I turn the friggen channel to sports center all you hear about is brett farve this brett farve that!!

Briery Creek Lake...
WayneP - i got your email finally but its was after I got home but thanks anyway. I'll use it another time. It was a rough hot day out on the lake me and my friend only caught 6 bass in about 6 hours of straight fishing. BTW how do you guys dive around on this lake without completely demolishing your prop? I only found only a few open areas to use my outboard without having to worry about hitting a tree! I put my TM through the ringer tuesday but it was fun none the less.

My recent pond experience...
So last sunday me and one of my friends head up to my uncles 5 acre pond in the county to do a little catfishing. After we get there me and my friend tie on a small hook and cork and begin to fish with worms for small bream to use for bait later on in the night (BTW we got there around 6). So after a while I get tired of catching lots of little punks so I tie on a rapala shallow runner and catch 2 dinks within an hour and am not satisfied. So I'm looking through all the "junk" lures that I never use or never had any luck on and pick up a 3/4 ounce spoon and tie it on. My buddy begins to laugh and sais throw it as far as you can and so I did quiet a few times and while he is bursting out in laughter I continue to cast into deeper water and its now around 8 and its getting almost dark so I'm just swimming this spoon (keep in mind I've never used one before and didnt know they were meant for jigging ) and I hook something big...I thought I have hooked a small flathead cat but just then I see this nice looking LMB jump and my friend stops laughing and is now in disbelief I actually hooked a fish and comes over to see. I guessing its around 3.5 - 4.5 lb...you tell me what ya think this picture IMO does the fish no justice in size but its all I got. I think I might start using spoons more often in deep water ;D

Swim Bait Questions
I do not agree with that. Gotta agree!!!! That is not always to case. I've stuck fish on a trout bait in a pond where trout don't exist. IMPY03 - Where you saying you wanted info on "swimbaits", or 4" "sissy shad's" : Big difference!!! Just make sure you know what your getting yourself into!!! Yeah I can see the price difference

Dead Shad???
what do you mean by blast caps? is that something you put in the water to kill a bunch of fish that are in the immediate area? and as for the chemical, the dead fish were showing up all over the lake, so if there was a chemical involved, it must have been a whole lot of it. the water was very muddy and there was like some kind of scum pollution on top. not sure if this is a natural pollution (kinda looked like the scum pollen leaves behind) or not. maybe that has something to do with it. My gramps has told me stories of people he knew using home made blasting caps (kinda like a mini stick of dynamite I'm assuming) to stun/kill bait fish in the area to collect and use for bait but its very illegal down here in VA.

Dead Shad???
Maybe someone was using blast caps the night before and killed lots of them. Could also be that someone has dumped some type of chemical in a certain part of the lake.

Swim Bait Questions
So whats the buzz on swim baits now a days? I hear that a lot of guys are using them and catching some big fish. Where can I find some good quality swim baits and what is the recommended size/colors? I don't have big confidence in fishing with any kind of tackle much longer than 6 - 8 inches long but whats the difference between using a 6 inch swim bait or 10 inch swim bait? Any info is greatly appreciated!!

I just purchased an Eagle Fishmark 320 from wal-mart today. I paid $150 but everyone I have talked to who has used one or has been with someone who uses one said it is well worth the money.

12 Foot Jon Boat...What size Motor?
I also have a 12 footer with a 5hp outboard and it runs around 10 - 12 MPH with 2 people but I would much rather have an 8 - 10 hp outboard on it anyday.
