Just bought 12' Mirrocraft!
Thanks, as far as the carpet up the sides, I just used outdoor carpet glue from Home Depot, and so far its held like cement. Spread it thin- it goes a long way. SDCOLL did hell of a nice job on his carpet, and lots of great photos too! Good luck Arty, and hurry up and get that thing done before that upstate N.Y. weather gets really nice. Del 8-)

Just bought 12' Mirrocraft!
Congrats on your new boat bro! I bought my first one last summer, a 12' v hull also. I learned alot from this website and had alot of fun modding it, I'm getting ready to install a small front deck for another pedestal/swivel seat where my little up front bench currently is now, hopefully- a "one day job" as soon as the weather breaks here in Northeast Ohio. Below is a link of some of my boat mod photos, maybe they'll give ya some ideas. I love my 12 footer and you'll love the v-hull, it can take the waves a little better than some of the flat john boats, and alot less drag in the water! Have any questions, myself and most everyone on here will be glad to help! D. 8-) http://photobucket.com/Delmonte67 Click on the top middle photo for slideshow.

SAD,SAD Photo!
I put two plastic saw horses under the first "old" blue tarp and tied it down tight, then the cover strapped just enough to be snug, so hopefully it won't rip. In these cold Ohio winters you kinda make the choice of keeping both her car and your newer SUV in the garage at night (no scraping ice and snow) or her car and your boat. Well the boat got the backyard. And to all you Floridians, Californians and warm climate people- Us Northerners absolutely love our seasons, I would'nt trade a day in October being out on a boat, Crappie fishing, looking at all the trees changing colors for anything! Or Pheasant hunting with friends in the harvested corn fields on Thanksgiving morning (ok maybe by February I'll trade a week at the beach.: The winter here is a love/hate relationship, but its a time to rest, catch up on some good books and movies sitting by the fireplace (no yardwork!) Saturday night card partys, OHIO STATE FOOTBALL!!! (Sorry bout that Michigan- and most of all - The holidays! They just were never the same as home, when I was stationed out in Cali in the military. And I'll let you in on a little northern secret-Turkey and Ham taste so much better when its cold and snowy outside! Happy Holidays! 8-) D.

Best Crappie Bait or Rigs?
You got it bro! Fall in northeast Ohio is "breathtaking" especially on the local lakes, hell my fiance even comes out on the lake in October just to see the trees change color- and she hates to fish! If what you described is not in my box, I'll hit the tackle store! Thanks! D. 8-)

How do I use my new fishfinder?
Bought a like-new fishfinder from a buddy for $25, its a Hummingbird LCR 400 ID portable. I mounted the tranducer (exactly as instructed in the manual) on the back lower left on the transom, drilled in 2 cable clips to keep it against the transom, drilled a small hole at the top of the transom to bring the cable into the boat, sealed all with silicone-ready to go! I took it out on the water, it works perfect- love it!, but I seem lost on what settings to use, how far ahead am I seeing under my boat compared to whats on my screen? Why when both anchors are down does the structure still move across the screen even when display speed is on slowest and I'm not moving? Any advice on settings, alarms, sensitvity, ect... would help this newbie alot! This is my first boat , first fishfinder. Thank fellas! D. 8-)

PUTTING A DECK ON A 12FT V BOTTOM
Thanks bro, took me a couple of months in my spare time to fix her up, but I'm really gonna enjoy fishing in this Northeastern Ohio gorgeous fall weather for the next 6-8 weeks (my fiance is already complaining I'm fishing too much!) Now I just gotta figure out how to use this new Hummingbird fishfinder I bought, just mounted the tranducer on the bottom of the transom and sealed the screws with silicone tonight, can't wait to use it! I'll let ya know how it works! D. 8-)

PUTTING A DECK ON A 12FT V BOTTOM
I'm a newbie, but I just finished my first mod on my 12' v hull 2 weeks ago. I guess you can do what you want, I think it might be a little "tippy" I mostly use my trolling motors on the calm lakes that I fish, but I was concerned with running my 6hp motor sitting high on pedestals, at least I can take my seat pedestal posts out and sit on the bench with the seats in and have plenty of room for my legs. If you just plan on running a trolling motor, then put a deck all the way across and you should be fine, but if you're gonna use any gas powered motor and sit with pedestals be careful! Included is a photo of my first time out with her last week, what a great day of fishing! But if you notice, I can put the seats down low and add the pedestals poles once I get on the lake. Good luck! Just my two cents! D. 8-)

Trolling motor, wiring advice needed!
No Mike, I remember hooking up the tm in the driveway before I left, I remember making sure the knob was turned to off before I hooked it up and clamped it on the back. The pos. and neg. for the lights were already hooked to the battery and they run through the fuse up the the 4 switch box, and all were turned off till I checked them on the water. I think this week I'll hook both up in the backyard and see what happens? If it blows the fuse again, do you think maybe a 20 amp fuse might do the trick? This is very strange. :-?

Trolling motor, wiring advice needed!
Yesterday I took my boat out on the lake, I used one of my trolling motors. My lights are all wired together and they all hook into a fuse (15 amp) before going to the battery (12v) I've tested the lights a hundred times, I've left them on for hours- no problem. I clamped my trolling motor (30 lb.thrust) onto the same battery and I noticed my lights fizzled out. The trolling motor ran fine for the 4 hour period I was out, I came home checked the battery level it was just below half, I checked the fuse and it was blown, replaced it and the lights are fine, I even left the lights on for 2 hours for good measure. Why would the fuse blow by hooking up the trolling motor to the same battery? The trolling motor was clamped to the main posts, and the lights are hooked under the wing nuts on the battery. I just don't get why this would effect my lights as a total seperate hook-up to the battery? ANY ADVICE WOULD HELP! Thanks D.

My finished 1965 Seastar 12' V hull (With photos Link)
SHE'S FINALLY DONE!!! I was driving down a back road at the end of May, and I saw her in a driveway for sale, an older guy wanted $500 for the boat, trailer and 6 hp Johnson. When the guy started it up for me in a filled trashcan, the engine purred. The trailer was probably the worst, with surface rust all over (My fiance argued that it was too old and that it looked like a piece of crap, and I should wait for a better deal!) Well, with probably 80+ hours of blood, sweat, and tears -She's finally overhauled and modified! I had alot of fun, and thanks to this website, and the guys who helped me through this site, I learned an aweful lot, being this is my first boat and all. I probably will buy that Bayliner someyear soon, but the hours I sweated working on this little boat this summer will mean more to me! CHECK OUT MY PHOTO LINK and tell me what you think! Thanks again D. http://photobucket.com/Delmonte67 USE THE SLIDESHOW!

Advice on lights, wiring?
Bill, other than the two bigger lights, I bought these low energy led lights at Wall-Mart, they are pretty bright, but they are white and waterproof. I did'nt see any red at all. Red plastic slid inside the glass cover could work? I'll post pics soon! If I can help you in any way bro, just ask, This is my first boat/mod -Almost done! Del
