i baught some of the siege in 12lb camo today to learn to use my new baitcaster... once i learn i plan to swap to the performance braid... also got 330 yards for $8.50.... Alex

nope i dont have that problem with either of my quantum reels... i have the $40 array and the $100 KVD series reel from BPS... ALSO, why does everyone ***** about an ounce of weight on their reels... is it you arent man enough to handle swingin an extra ounce around? Jesus people quit whining about a freakin ounce... honestly can you even tell the difference or are you so anal about it you put them on a scale? you are the people that are turning this sport into somthing so complicated its hard to teach others cause it so f$%^ing complecated.... what happened to the ol do it all zebco 33? ok im done ranting... anyhow i baught my rod today, a 7' MH quantum PT rod with the split handle... i was going for the all star rod and he said the quantums were better and had better warrenties... only draw back was all he had today was the heavy power rods that i didnt like the feel of.... so he orderd me one and will be here tuesday or so... and as for line i baught some sufix siege mono in 12lb test and the "camo" color... i have a 7' MH on order from a local taclke shop and i got it for $89.. he said they have better warrenties than all star rods do so i baught it in stead... Hawgchaser do you like the split grip 7' MH rod? is it heavy? does it have the abnormally large blank size down just before it goes into the top of the cork grip? i had origionally baught a 6'10 H rod but the more thought about it the more i didnt want the H so he just did a straight swap.... i wont have it till tuesday or so.... also will i gain/loose anything by going with the 7' MH over the 6'6" MH? well if it holds up to him using them three times a week hard... then it can handle me using it 4 times a week easily... but i dot know my buddys pflugers cant even come close to my quantums in the spinning world... he had the presidents and ithey are around 70 bucks and i baught my 40 buck array and it doesnt even come close to it... let alone my energy pt spinning reel lol in the winter i plan to buy another energy spinning reel and a carrot stix for it to go on... ive fell inlove with that orange... thanks guys im sure ill need alittle more guidence... lol and as far as people disliking quantum, well i guess its all preference... ive never used anything but quantums... even baught one of those 3 BB snapshot reels and i cant tell you how many fish i caught with it lol... Quantum is alittle more expensive but you gotta pay for the best... Alex

yep very first baitcaster.... never even touched one till i got mine VIA ups this morning... lol ive always wanted to learn and i figured id buy one while i could get one for 69.99 and plus its a quantum(only reels ill fish with) so i baught one... plus a few of my friends told me if it didnt work out, theyd buy the combo from me, but im confident ill get it eventually.... lol will any mono work? like some 12lb cajun line since its rather cheap... lol And after a long debate with companions and what i liked for my self, this reel is going on an All Star american classic rod 6'6 MH worm rod, AC WR1 model number... not too expensive but not a cheap-o either... plan to go pick it up one day this week... thanks guys... i just read the tutorial Davis and it made a little impression on my brain so ill read it a few more times before i start this... plan to go get my rod tomarrow and some line... should i learn with mono or braid... id like to learn with braid since thats what i plan to fish with... but if its btter to start off with mono ill take you guys advice... ok guys thanks for the quick responses... i tightened up the drag (it was all the way off) and she spins nicely... on now i guess the question is, thats that little knob for behind the handle for? Alex

drag is backed way off(thats the little knob by the crankin handle right?) and the spool control if off as well... Alex

Ok so i just recieved my 70 doller energy PT from monster tackle and i like it alot but i have one little concern... i got the right handed 6.3:1 ratio, and when i turn the handle thee spool doesnt turn, but sometimes it does... theres no line on it and not even on the rod yet... if anyone can shed some light on this for me itd be great.... here in GA by law people 18 and under cant wear anyhting but polycarbonate... So theres a reason for that... ill always wear poly lenses... i dont dig the shattering in the eye ball thing... but thats just me... Alex

also my girlfriend likes the buzz and spinner baits the best... on more than one occasion shes caught more fish than i did... but that doesnt bother me i like to see he all excited like that.. also shell bait her own hook with worms livers crickets and what not and well do everythign buy take the hook out of the fishs mouth.. how cna i get her to do that? so inother words put some old mono and tape the end of the line down then put less braid on it so the line with persay grip to the mono and not free spool off the spool... right? thansk wayne! i think ill do this once i get my first bait caster... Alex

Also as before mentioned, you must use mono backing or tape on the spool arbor to avoid "ghost drag" unless you have a drilled spool arbor to tie the line thru. Can you eloborate please? im new to the whole bait casting thing and i wanted to use braid so id like for you to elaborate please... Alex
