  1. anybody use this companys jigs? looking to buy some new jigs and came across these. they have many colors and look pretty good thanks
  2. well i got the mojo bass in 7 feet medium action/fast tip. my new curado e wont be in till next week. the rod is beautiful and it is very light and sensitive. i put another curado on it and went out in the yard just now and threw a couple times. man this thing is sensitive! i could almost feel whether the jig was coming across the grass or the dog poo! just casted a few times cause its a balmy 16 right now at 4 in the afternoon. i have one slight issue with the rod. above the first guide(from reel) there is a something, not sure what, but it looks like maybe a drop of glue or something. it looks like a slit, but it is raised and about 1/16 long from right to left, not up and down doesnt appear to be a crack or anything, just more like a tiny line of glue that got painted over. i guess it is no big deal. i am pretty particular though and it still is on my mind. again, i dont see any split graphite, and the line is raised instead of like a crevice or crack. i dont know but i cant wait to try it out. i am going to make it a shakey head rod although i have not mastered the flipping short distance or skipping under docks that works well with a shakey head on lakes with docks. i have only been throwing the baitcast for about a month now, and i should use my spinning gear for shakey heading, but i just dont even want to pick it up cause i am enjoying the baitcaster so much. depending on what happens on the water, i will probably order another mojo for dropshotting. its a toss between the mojo and the woo daves bass pro extreme. sean
  3. sam thanks for your info. we will actually be fishing against each other kinda like ultimate bass challange, so i better not tickle his nose too much. i found a map on google and saw where the hot side is. i found the dikes and the canals that attach each piece. the trick worm sounds good never tried that on a shakey head. thanks again for your info!
  4. hello i will be fishing a tournament here in february and have never laid eyes on the lake. i will be the non boater so i am in whoever's mercy which i draw. i was just wondering what could be good this time of year. my strongpoints are drop shotting and shakey heading, but i mainly fish deep highland reservoirs . is this lake shallow? deep? thanks a lot
  5. i like the bps finesse but i think it only comes in right hand. i like the curados i just got two of them last week, the 201dhsv. i didnt know shimano made smaller versions

  9. i dont believe they make the thruster tail anymore
  10. today i fished a tourney with a friend. i was using a silver buddy and he was using some kind of sliding tail spinner in which there was a hole through the body and a treble hook tied to the line. he said there are not many companies making them anymore. i forget which companies he siad, does anybody know of any companies that make them? thanks

if the shakey head is so effective why dont we see more pros using it? seems like its always the 10" c-rig worm, crankbait, or jig. just curious as to your thoughts.
  13. oh and i have been using the 5.75 size on the shakey head. maybe the 4 inch will stand up a little better
  14. thanks for the info guys. one last question, do you rig tail up or tail down? i have had luck with the tail up but i see alot with the tail down. as far as claytor lake, i have had fun with these there as well. what size hook do you use on the drop shot rig? you use the 4" or 5" on the drop shot. thanks again
  15. if the kut tail doesent float, why is it so popular on the shakey head? the bulkiness of it just makes the jig fall over. just wondering
  16. throwing a dropshot will do great in the deep water. i fish a lake here that is a mtn resivoir with little cover so the fish hang deep most of the day. i usually use 3/16 but if the fish are 30-40 feet you may want to go to 1/4 oz. what i like to do is throw a silver buddy. its heavy and you can cover alot of water. pump it off the bottom. once the fish are located throw the dropshot. also, use the same colors you use during the day for night unless its muddy water. while its true the darker colors contrast better, the fish really concentrate on movement at night. green pumpkin is my go to for day and night and i use a fatter worm or other plastic at night for more water displacement. you wanna have fun, rig a shakey head and hold on. use the smallest weight you can get away with.
  17. yeah i thought about a 6" roboworm.
  18. hello i have started using the yamamoto 5" kut tail worm on the spot remover shakey head and had amazing resuts yesterday. my question is, i was playing with this setup in the bathtub and because the worm is so heavy the jig justs falls over. is there something that resembles the kut tail that floats? most of my hits were on the fall, but i caught several by dragging then shaking the jig. but if it is falling over seems like i might not be getting the full flavor of the set up. one last, are the spot removers a well rounded head? been trying to find something a little cheaper but dont have any experience other than the pro model spot remover thanks
  19. i am a spoon fan and am wanting to get some heavier sizes for deep water. i like the looks of the hopkins with its smaller profile in 1 oz but am wondering about the bass pro version i think its called the stratos. its half the price but i dont know how long they are. is anyone familiar with them? i love throwing the little cleo in 1/3 and 2/5 but i need something a little heavier for the 30 -40 foot mark thanks
  20. can you use one for cranking?
  21. thanks again wayne for your help. yeah i pretty patient but i am going to have to learn to be a bit more!
  22. well, first i need to introduce myself. i have been posting for about two weeks now and havent really said anything about myself. i live in southeastern wv, monroe county with my wife and two children. been fishing all my life, mostly smallies on the river and trout, but also some largemouth. grew up boating on the big lakes around, dad would take us skiing but he wasnt into the big boat fishing scene. fast forward to about 10 years ago and my good buddy who owns a bass boat. we started going out and fishing for smallies, spots and stripers. fell in love with the big lake fishing and purchased a used skeeter this year. the lakes i fish are mountaiin lakes, claytor and moomaw mostly. they are each about 5000 and 2500 acres. they are deep, with rocky bluffs, long coves, and some flats, but not much grass. moomaw actually has no development, no docks, not many blowdowns, but a ton of underwater structure, humps and such. i decided to fish some sunday tourneys this spring and fell in love with the whole tourney thing. i dont know if thats bad or good but it sure gets expensive!! i have done really well so far with a couple second place finishes. the friday night tourneys have now started which run from 6-midnight. man these things are un nerving me. the night bite hasnt been good for the last couple years so i have heard, so i figure strategy would be catch the fish before dark. thing is so much lake and so little time! the day tourneys run 10 hours so i have had time to scout around and find fish. but i have had a hard time deciding on just how to attack the 6-9 oclock window. the lake is 65% smallies and they are nomadic so its just been hard to focus with so much water. how do you all attack these type of situations? thanks for reading and the warm welcome so far sean
  23. thanks wayne. about how much would it weigh? again i am fishing a mountain lake with steep bluffs, but a few shallower flats.
  24. got a pack yesterday and went to the creek to get a feel of how they work and wow, those things cause quite a disturbance! cant wait to use them sunday morning. not only the tail, but how the shad itself wiggles back and forth. never thought they could get plastic to do that. only thing is i say they wear out quick and at a buck a piece gonna have to utilize every bit of it. have you all done well with em?
  25. can someone tell me what kind of nails to buy at the hardware store to use. description would be good. i hear a nail comes in like 8 penny and such, but have no idea which to buy. i probably need to cut it to about 3/4 inch. any info would help'thanks
