I went out on Spring Lake in Altamonte before the game Sunday and surprisingly landed a few 2-3 pounders within 15 minutes. The day before I got up around 6 and got a 3 pounder and a few nice speck at Sand Lake. This year seems to be starting out good. Seems like there is a comeback in the hatch over the last few years. Does anyone else feel that?
Got a 8 pounder today on Spring lake. My PB! Landed a few 1-3 lb'ers on a smaller buzz bait then switched to black and blue culprit right before dark and pulled the lunker right out of the weeds. I had left the dinner table early to get to the backyard, when I caught it my family saw me fighting it and walk down to the lake. My wife who is pregnant and sensitive to the smell got close and lost her dinner! So I released it. Would have made a tasty meal.
Anyone fish this pond? I know the big ones are there, I can see them. After going there for a few evenings I finally hooked a 2lb'er on a grape culprit. These fish are tricky.
I've had a lot of luck the last few weeks around north Orlando using 7.5" plastic worms in pumpkin seed color, no weight, carolina rig. For the lakes, cast into the weeds and pull along the top letting the worm sink when you can.
