  1. Daiwa Tierra. Smooth, tough and around $120.00. It's the charter boat version of a Bass fishing BC'er. IMO.
  2. It may be too early in some areas. It's all different. But if the bass feel the spawning season coming they will be more aggressive and hit the buzz-baits. These are your larger fish as they are starting to "pack on the pounds". Give it a try. At the least you are covering more area, hence "search bait".
  3. BASS Fisherman is right. The fish will let you know. If I was in this situation I would use a spinner or buzz-bait to scan the area. If you have no luck locating them I would go senko style. Another good tactic would be slow jerking a suspending rapala type minnow. Half the fun of catching them is dialing in on what they are hitting.
  4. Pflueger does make good stuff too. That tx 120 was mounted on a Pflueger 3600 rod from 1982.
  5. I have a Shimano tx 120 from 1989 that I still use. They are built well. Recently I picked up a Stradic 2500FI and love it.
  6. I like the power pro's green color. It blends well with the lakes here in florida. It's like bass thread. hehe
  7. I love that last one. Color and shape is great!
  8. texas rigged (dark in my opinion) worms, craws, lizards or frogs in the pads and grass. The bite has been on around 7pm lately. Right after dark. Have fun that is a great area. ;D
  9. I agree it is so thin it does cut vegetation like a knife, but it's too thin. If you cast it with any weight it will dig into your finger.. I suppose it's marketing angle is it's strength per diameter. But it's too thin for an application that requires thin/light in my opinion. Braid is thin and light, firewire is thin but not flexible meaning it holds it's bends. Braid is thin but is like thread, light but doesn't retain a sharp angle... if this makes sense..... silk vs plastic if you will......
  10. A friend spooled me with some fireline once. It was weird. It left black ink on my thumb and felt very stiff. I threw it away after one trip.
  11. At least the weeds + bass would not be a problem. hehe. Ya it is probably overkill. But would it work? 25 lb mono, 7ft fast is what I keep hearing is needed. Would a Curado 300 work in salt too? I am looking for a versatile setup that would cover reds to LM bass?
  12. I do too. It's just I have nothing in between a TD 135 and the TEK500 and wanted to do some flippin. I figured if it would fit the bill..?
  13. I put the lip on today. Does it matter what type of paint I use if I will be sealing it with epoxy? I used testors model paint.
  14. Ya, your right. I have no "secret" spots. I rekon there is no point in posting anymore co-ords.
  15. Has anyone used the shimano Tekota 500 for flipping or largemouth fishing? I was thinking about a TEK500 and Teramar inshore heavy - extra fast for flippin.
  16. Tampa is a great area. I live in Orlando, between Tampa and Orlando you have some of the best bass fishing in the world. Avoid the traffic by learning alternate routes. I love Florida.
  17. For the last few years I have marked my spots with my GPS. I would not give away my secret spots but I have a lot of co-ord's that I would not mind sharing with people. 28 deg. 48' 55 N, 81 deg. 25' 35 W is a good place for panfish. in Central Florida north of Orlando. Anyone else want to share?
  18. Here the one I was talking about in my earlier post.
  19. Thanks Big M. If I was to add a lip to it and make it more of a diver, would the weights be good where they are? BTW: Your cranks are awesome.
  20. I carved it from poplar instead of balsa. Does anyone know if that is to hard of a wood? It's buoyancy seemed good. I wanted something strong.
  21. I made it this weekend. Went with a basic design for my first try. Thinking about going with a shiny silver to black fade for the paint.
  22. The small gators will sometimes strike buzzbaits and topwaters. My friend and I caught one on blackwater in the seminole WMA this summer. It was a pain to get him unhooked but we did. The funny thing was he came back for more a few minutes later. hehe
  23. I like the color of the first one. Both are great. Nice work!
  24. Love the painting.
