  1. Thanks. I have to do an all new run . So I will go with 16ga. THX
  2. I am getting ready to install a new depthfinder on the boat. I was just curious what size wire to use. Thx in advance.
  3. Well you guys are always a wealth of knowldege on many subjects. Today I was just curious what kind of tips you guys have on winter fishing. I have read the majority of th articles, but i was curious what strategies you guys use. I live and fish in AZ. This will be my first winter fishing. Thanks in advance. *modified so this can remain in the general section and not need to be moved to the regional section-LBH
  4. I always talk to people and they seem to always mention "cranking the cliffs" this time of year. I know by "cliffs" they mean the steep walls that surround portions of the lakes in az. The only confusion i have is that when using a crankbait it is best to bounce into structure or cover, but there is neither by most cliffs. Is this an exception to the rule or do i need to still find cliffs with structure to hit. Please let me know what you guys do because i would appreciate some help. Thx!!
  5. i highly recommend mounting the transducer on the trolling motor, especially if that is your motor for the boat. it is very simple and all the material comes with the mount. in most cases there is a mount built specifically for the fishfinder you use. and they are cheap....15 bucks.
  6. i was just wondering what were some of your favorite lures for finding bass at the lakes, something u can fish quick and hit a lot of water effectively.
  7. was looking for another good read on largemouth bass. I just finished The In Fishermans Guide to Largemouth bass. any suggestions would be appreciated. thx
  8. well i had some questions about topwater fishing. i read the articles and there some good info, but i am not sure how much it applied to summer fishing when fish go deeper. i was wondering how far a bass will go to get a topwater bait. are there any signs that topwater fishing would b productive, and any signs that it would not be productive. i am just trying to get some info so i dont spend an hour fishing topwater when it is not the right situation. any advice or answers would be great. thx
  9. so i just purchased a hummingbird 525 depthfinder and i love it. i read the manual front to back and took it out a few times to find the settings i like. the only issue i have is i feel like i dont know how to utilize the depthfinder. i am not sure if there is a good tactic for covering a spot before i fish it and once i see the image on the depthfinder where should it be in comparison to my boat.(trolling motor mount) i have done a little tinkering on my own, but i was not sure if there was more tips or resources out there. i guess i will keep trolling and experimenting.
  10. that will do it ! thx
  11. sorry for the lack of info. but i just purchased it. i got the motor checked out and took it out today. i am new to larger boats, and i read some other peoples questions about planing. they were talking about jack plates and different sized props. i never went WOT with my boat , but i dont know how fast i have to go to plane out. it is not really a "problem" but i was trying to gather info now if it does become an issue. thx
  12. what about jack plates and different size props?
  13. i just took out my 87' chamion bass boat and it did not plane well or at all. i was simply wondering what is the way to fix that? do i have to be at a certain speed? i am just looking for some info to start my research. thx
  14. That seems pretty cheap. get maintenance records, get it checked out by an outboard tech before u buy. and boats that have sat awhile will need some serious maintenance to the motor before u ride(in most cases). do u homework and get what u want. oh yeah and then post some pics.
  15. i was wondering which set-up would give e longer battery run time. a link would help or f any of u guys know for sure. thx
  16. so i am looking into an older bass boat, here is an example, http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/boa/752326310.html .... i was wondering how long should an outboard motor last if taken care of? do smaller motors last longer than larger ones? is either better for a first time boat owner like myself? i will take all tips u guys can give . thx!
  17. so i have somehow accumulated a large amount of plastic lures, jigs, topwaters, and trailers. i am now faced with storing everything and making my "tools" mobile. i was just wondering what u guys did and the set-ups u use. feel free ti post any kind of info that u might think help> thx
  18. i just went to a pond very similar to what u r descibing. i know that the pond i went to the bass were not pressured so i am not sure if the same method will work. i fished weightless flukes over the top of everything. i used a stop and go retrieve, and letting the fluke slowly sink into any holes i found in the vegitation. i evn used the fluke across the top scum. i used it just like a forg. had great luck, hope this helps! and post some pics of what u get!
  19. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/boa/753449787.html let me know what u guys know i looked on nada and wasnt sure that price was right, just curious what u guys think. i was thinking 3500$-3700$
  20. well i am upgrading from my little jon boat to something bigger... http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/boa/752326310.html ....i could use some advice on wether or not a oat like this is good..the price..and anything to watch out for. just wondering if a bass boat is a headache or well worth it. i have seen the boat it looks good, runs good, saw maintenance records, needs just the work listed thx
  21. anything that stinks is an easy go to. liver, stink bait and so on.... for bigger catfish go with live bait i.e. bluegills. get there early , use half of a nightcrawler get what u can and keep them alive. use a slider weight, to a swivel,to a 12-24 inch leader, to a nice sized hook. put a bluegill (or any panfish) on there. cast it out , and keep the drag super light and bring some beers.
  22. example: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/boa/746891437.html ...42 inch bottom. in good shape. less than 30 hours on motor. i know it is overpriced , but i have no clue what a better price would b. i am just looking for any tips when i look at boats, or any " rules of thumb" when deciding on an offer price. and how much return should a seller expecton a newer motor like this? any tips and a suggested offer would help. thx
  23. i posted about some boats i was looking at and was looking for input from u guys.....and all the info was great. but i have one more. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/boa/746324490.html let me know what u guys think or if u have any insight into a boat like this . thx
