Upcoming Lake Erie trip
I'll be on the bay fishing from about June 5th to the 12th. Always a lot of fun and tons of action. Had a few 100 smallie days last year.

Does Anyone Use Small SUV's to Tow Boat?
I pull a 17 1/2 ft aluminum Lowe 170w with my 2009 Honda CR-V with zero issues. Many 100 plus mile trips.

one color of plastic
June bug but I would have to fish my large mouth waters mostly. Wait I can't do that I live near Lake Erie and can't give up smallies. Anything goby colored it is. I'll make it work for largies.

Presque Bay Fishing
I fished the Bay Sunday. Smallie bite was a little slow for me , they are not up shallow in full force yet. I caught 15 smallies and and atleast 20 large mouths. By now I'm usually getting 50 plus smallies. With 2 guys in the boat 100+ days. This weather has the fish behind schedule a week or two. This week coming up really isn't going to push them up quick either. I had a good top water bite for large mouth in the morning over weed beds.

Lake Arthur
We have been catching alot of bass in the weed beds. Jerkbaits and spinnerbaits are working for us. Alot of perch in the weed beds so colors that match perch have done well. I would try in shannons bay and also muddy creek if you launch out of 528 launch. I would also flip trees with jigs , bass are starting to move shallow to wood.

How much longer can image it?
I hear you , I think i'm going to ride up to Lake Arthur today and get a ice report. My boat is ready to go and so am I.

how do you find structure
This is the hardest thing to do but it works for me. I have a Humminbird 997si. I leave the rods in the truck spend the first few hours scanning the lake and marking way points. After I have located enough spots I get the rods out and start hitting the different spots. If the rods are in the boat when I do this It is easy for me to get side tracted and instead of exploring I will fall back to old spots and start fishing.

MinnKota Trolling motor Mounting Question
Talked to a lady from Minnkota she told me how to change it , 10 minutes later I had it fixed. You have to back the tension screw off on the foot control about 7 full turns. Next take cover off top off trolling motor head. There is a black drum where your cable go thru that is on a spline shaft. Lift the drum up off the spline. Spine the prop to where you want it . Level pedal then put drum back on spline. Pop red arrow out of cover. Screw cover back on, then snap red arrow back on pointing in the correct direction. Tighten the tension screw for the foot pedal. Thanks For the help and suggestions

MinnKota Trolling motor Mounting Question
When I say pedal flat , I mean flat is straight ahead foward turns right , heel back turns left. With the trolling motor mounted on the right side of the bow the cable coming out of the head is coming out of the right side instead of coming out the left side which would make it come down the center.

MinnKota Trolling motor Mounting Question
If you are talking about the knob that adjust the height , I tried that. If i move it till my cable comes out to the left. (towards the center of the boat) This also changes the foot position on my pedal. I still want the pedal to be level when going straight ahead with the cable going out to the left. I hope I explained that well enough , I hope you mean something else.

MinnKota Trolling motor Mounting Question
I bought a new MinnKota Maxxum 70# for my boat . I had to mount it on the right side of my Bow instead of the normal left side. The problem is when the trolling motor is deployed , the cable coming out of the head is to the outside of the boat. Is there a way to adjust this so it will come down the center of the boat like it would if it was mounted on the left side.

What have you lost from it going overboard?
My worst was a Sage Sp 3pc. flyrod with Lamson lite speed reel total cost was over $1000.00 watched it fall out of the boat and rip down a river in Colorado. Just pulled the back up out and finished the day out. Alot of rounds were bought for me at the bar that night. lol (Now) I have lost other things like sun glasses and cheaper rods , But my Sage is by far the worst.

Minn Kota Power Drive difficult to deploy, any help??
I have a power drive and mine can be a bear also. I've found if I use a liquid car wax on the shaft before a trip it really seems to help. I know before i did this i would have my partner take turns putting the motor in. By the end of the day my shoulder was killing me.

FLW in pittsburgh
It was about 12:30 -1pm , I should have put the boat back in and looked for him. I didn't know if he was still in that area or jumped up or down a lock. We usually use either freeport or tarentum , Im from just up the road in Saxonburg.

Presque Isle Bay
We did not do as well yesterday , we got 40 smallies. We ran out to the perch pack for an hour or so caught 3 so we headed back for smallies. Man was it chilly on the lake yesterday , its hard to believe the temp. difference between home and the lake. Here is my brothers best smallie of the day , his first trip to PIB.

Saturday we fish till 2pm and picked up another 50 smallies also today we took a break from the smallies and went for perch. Im heading back up Sunday with my brother he has never tried it up there. Here's a double , we had quite a few doubles. ;D

Presque Isle Bay
Have not been up this year yet but around this time last year we started to pound them. My dad and I had alot of 100 smallie days. Right now they are usually on the edges of the weed lines. If the lake is some what calm look for the transition from weeds to sandy bottom. Down towards the monument side its very obvious , we work 3" twist tails with 1/8 oz. jig heads. You will catch them in the weeds and on the edges. They will soon be working out into the sandy flats to nest up. I would recommend working the area from Niagra launch down to the Monument. If you have any more question , I'll try to help. I see you from Cranberry Twp. im not to far away over in Saxonburg.

Come & get them!
Thanks , like I said before my dad and I have had a lot of 80-100 smallie days in the bay. But they usually top out around 4# or so for us. Would love to get into some 5-6 lbers. Plus with the deeper water and there shoulders you cant beat that.

Come & get them!
Great pictures , I hope to be heading up soon. We usually pound them in PIB but this year would like to fish more in the big lake. Around what depths were you fishing if you don't mind. Again congrats on some great fish.

Are you a multi species angler?
Smallmouth #1 for me with Crappies a close second. Usually pound the crappies until May then hit Erie hard for smallies.
