Positive ending
Every Saturday we have a lil tournement during the summer until the big tournements happen during the fall threw spring. It's a group of guys that realy have the fish at heart. The turn out was decent we had 15 boats blasting off at safe light. It was a great day on the water the big fish was on fire everywhere. Everyone caught some realy nice fish. On the way in to the weigh in we all notice a bunch of dead fish in the canal. There's a elevating boat business in this canal and they come threw there with borges and pilot boats. Still not sure how all those fish died though. When we got to the launch we all decided that we could not release these fish here in this canal to die so three guys volunteered to bring the fish back to the lake and release them there. I was glad to see all those fish released back in the lake but it sucked to see the ones that were dead already. It's nice to see a group of guys that care enough about the sport and fish to take the time out to take care of it/them. Besides the winning sack was a lil over 21 lbs with the rest not far behind. It wouldn't have been pretty to see all those 4 and 5 lbers floating. I just felt like I should post something positive about tournements instead of all the negatives you here about.

Ragetail Shad Help needed
hook ratio's on frogs aint that great to begin with. The only thing I would change is I would use braid for a good hook set and try some sort of attractant so that they will hold on better.

Zoom Toad help.
First off get the rage toad. Then rig it with a screw in frog hook by stanley or owner. No they don't float but with the action they have it don't need to.

custom curado finished
I used rustoleum for the blue and the lacquer. The silver was dupli color from napa auto parts. The brand realy didn't matter as much as the thickness. The thinner the better so you can put aalot of thin coats so it don't orange peel and have build up. The clear coat was just the opposite. Reel mechanic I don't know how long it will last but it looks cool for now and if it does get messed up than I will have a new prject and then I just might make It black and gold. I used the reel yesterday on my trip and it caught fish with no problem.

this was all done with spray paint. I did have to go threw about 5 different brands to find the right paint. The paint can't be thick or it wouldn't work. I used clear laquer becouse the clear spray paint would give it a frost look. Sam I plan on doing a LSU(geaux tigers) reel and to answer your question about the performance of the reel I only had one problem. When I put it back together the bearings wouldn't fit so I took some water paper and sanded the inside the holes. Other than that everything is A O.K. I'm also looking for some sort of decals that I can put on before the clear like a tiger or something.

The reel came out very well despite the bad photo's. I decided to change the colors from blue/yellow to blue/silver. The only thing I want to change is the handle. I've tried looking for a custom handle but I can't find one for shimano's other than that I think it came out good for my first reel. YES it still works very well. Probably better than before since I had it opened I lubed and greased everything. All the parts went together good but there was some sanding needed for the bearing and the spool. Well take a look and I want ya'll to be cridicts. Give me some thoughts on what ya'll would do.

any suggestions on spinning combo
I'm looking to buy a spinning reel combo. My price range is 200 to 250 dollars. I want a big faced spool with a 7' m-mh rod. I want this reel for finesse fishing. It needs to cast a 1/16-1/8 weight fairly decent. I want it to be as light as possible but durable. Give me some setups that ya'll have personal experience with. Thanx!

Rage Tail Question!
Yeah it can't hurt to have an extra hook. Plus it will weigh the bottom of the frog so it will run true. I plan on ordering them this weekend and I will try them out during the week. I'll get back with ya'll on their pro's and con's.

Rage Tail Question!
Has anyone used the tungsten double hook? Looks like it will work great on the rage toad.

before n after katrina
...and the fishing is better than before!(delecroix, La.) Where do I begin? Everyone knows what happend with the storm but the untold story is on the water. Don't get me wrong the fishing before the storm was good if you like numbers over size. Pre Katrina you could got out and catch anywhere from 50 to 100 fish on a decent day with big fish weighing no more than 3 lbs. Tournement weights were on average 12-13 lbs. When the storm came threw it tossed the marsh upside down. Where there was land now there's water and where there was water there's now land. Area's where I use to fish I can now walk across it. For the most part it's all good. Whatever happened made things better all around. You can still go out and catch numbers. The big change came in the size of the fish we're catching. I'm not sure how it happened but these fish are growing bigger each year. This place is not known for giants but it has some decent fish and now more of them are being caught. Now its not uncommun to go out and catch 4 n 5 lbers. Our tournement weight have increased alot it now takes 17-20 lbs to win. I'm not sure what happened here but I'm deffinently not complaining. I hope things keep going on the up and up.
