So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
We were south of the bridge . Im just afraid that by the time the Best 6 tournament starts next Saturday, the Elites will have picked off most of the females off of the beds on the south end. Im going to check them again next Friday, but aint banking on that pattern.

Caught around 20 fish yesterday on beds. Mostly males, but did have a 5lb male and a 7lb female. Caught em off the same bed. Saw a bunch of BIG fish, but they were so spooky that once you saw them they would take to deep water. Fished for about 30 minutes on one that would have probably went between 8-10lbs but she wasnt having it and after 30 minutes she left and never came back. It was a fun day and the kids enjoyed it. Now to get ready for the Best 6 coming up next weekend. Gonna be fighting with 600 people in the Best 6, probably 50 in the Bass n Bucks, and the Elites Series guys. Gonna be a packed house!!

Would be more than willing to share my boat with anyone on here, but tomorrow I got 2 kids from my church going with me. Gonna try and let them catch a few bucks off of beds and maybe get lucky and find a female.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
In Housen and other huge creek arms like it there are fish that will stay in there year around. I have found that bass, even during the summer months, roam around, even in deep water. While you may find a point on a ledge (which is mainly what I look for) that always holds fish, many times it is different schools of fish on it each day. One day you may pull up to N 31.28944 W 93.72677 and find good fish on it and the next day it may be all shorts. The fish are constantly on the move. BUT, there are areas that consistently hold big fish too, the key is to fish even places to find them. There are only about 4 or 5 key spots that I am confident hold big fish day in and day out while the rest of my "spots" hold fish, but I have no idea what size until I fish it that day. If I catch 5 or 6 shorts on a spot, I leave it. If I caught big fish there yesterday though I will look for the next closest point of structure to where they were yesterday. Sometimes that is 50 yards and sometimes it is 500 yards.

Caught Between Dobyns, Powell, & St. Croix
I have alot of all three. I have Avids, LTBs, and a Legend Extreme. Also have Dobyns savvy, Champion, and Champion Extreme. I like them all, but there is a reason that I only have one or two of each of these and I have 13 Powell Endurance rods. The Powells are flat out a better rod IMO. I just got a Dobyns DX 795 FLIP, it an awesome rod, BUT, I still favor my Powell 775 FLIP. You cant go wrong with any of them as they are all great rods, but as for me, Im sticking with Powell!

Awesome day! Toledo Bend amazes me every time I go. That's the days you remember!

Hammer Rods
I've never fished a Hammer rod, but have played with them at Toledo Tackle. They seem to be lighter than their ratings IMO. The MH felt more like a M and the H felt more like a MH to me. But they do feel like awesome rods!

Powell Guys
The 755cb is a great rod, but if you can find the TW exclusive Powell Deep Crankin rod, buy it!!! You won't find a better deep crankier. Handles 5,6, even 10xds well.

Catt is right. Fish Slaughter. There are plenty of fish in there. I would target points in slaughter. Fish slow with a jig, trig, or wacky worm.

Congrats to the yall! Thats awesome! 15th place out of 240ish boat...aint nothing wrong with that. Sounds like postspawn to me too. I know on Toledo, pretty much everything north of Lowes is post-spawn already.

Fished the south end today looking for beds. Saw over 300 fish on beds and caught 24 solid fish. Most were 3lbs give or take with my big fish going a little over 5lbs. I probably saw 10 fish over 5lbs, wit the biggest fish I saw probably 10-12lbs. She just wouldn't lock on. I chased her around for awhile, but she kept cruising and going deep so I couldn't catch her. Did see another good 8lb fish or so,but she was really spooky. All in all, I had a blast! I don't sight fish often, so days like today are really cool to me!

Which Powell
I own a 723 and two 714's. I throw jigs 3/8-3/4oz on the 714. The 723 is for finesse jigs and small trigs for me.

Which Powell
714 is a sick jig rod!

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Good luck this weekend guys! Ill finally be back out there Friday. Still debating if I want to go south and bed fish or stay midlake and fish deeper points and ridges. I know I can catch more fish and probably better fish midlake, because thats what I normally do, but wouldnt mind bed fishing south just to do it. Anyways, if yall decided to start a club, I would try and fish as many as I can. I already fish about 18 tournaments a year around here and on the Bend so I stay pretty busy, but if I get a weekend off I'd definatly fish with yall! The weather looks awesome this weekend. Cajun Ben and Wesley, if your fishing mid-lake or north of the bridge, dont overlook a frog and of course a buzzbait! Both are big fish baits that just flat out work this time of year.

Rod For Chatterbaits And Spinnerbaits
Powell squarebill rod! It's a composite rod with a lot of backbone and a forgiving tip.

I still believe the biggest fish in the lake are on the south end and spawn in or close to the main lake. There are big fish in the back of creeks too, but IMO, the biggest fish spawn in that 8ft range on main lake stuff. If I were fishing, I would fish the first few coves from the main lake looking for spawners on beds. Mill Creek should be just about right!
