  1. I agree with the other 2 posters, char shad, table rock shad, American shad, and ghost minnow are the only 4 colors I throw.
  2. The problem I'm finding is that by fishing Toledo more I'm not able to transfer what I learn to other lakes. All other area lakes are 5ft. Deep or less lol
  3. The seafood buffet at the restaurant across the street from Toledo Tackle on Hwy 6. is awesome. Best fried shrimp, seafood pasta, and frog legs Ive ate!
  4. North Toledo Bend State Park is at the mouth of San Miguel and is a very nice park. If you're willing to spend some money, take a look at Wildwood Resort. Its on San Miguel too, but it is an awesome facility! Kids would love it. They have a pond the kids can fish in with ducks, geese, swans, peacocks, ect. roaming around. The cabins are very nice too! Plus, there is good fishing on the lake close by.
  5. Start out stepping up to sun line sniper. I've tried em all and I feel sniper is the best bang for the buck. It's a huge step up from abrazx and not far from tatsu and shooter imo
  6. And man there were some bass cats on the lake today! Getting ready for the GAF tomorrow I guess. I couldn't make it tomorrow, but good luck to those fishing.
  7. I caught 14 today, 2 over 3lbs. It was brutal for me. I fished 11 hard hours for 14 small fish.
  8. I will have a klx next year! I've heard nothing but good things about those rods.
  9. I use a Powell tw exclusive deep diver cb rod with 14lb floro. The bait gets down to about 22-23 ft on a long cast and it catches good fish.
  10. You can get a Powell endurance 775 for $130 at thefishranger.com. You will not find a nicer rod for that price!
  11. I agree, no absolutes for sure. But if your not throwing the arig around shallow cover, you will miss out. I've had numerous days where the arig out fishes everything else 5 to 1 in shallow water.
  12. Havent been in a month, so I cant say for sure, but I would start on grass flats close to creek channels with a trap, spinnerbait, weightless plastics.
  13. No way...a finesse arig will out fish anything in flooded willows 90% of the time. When the shad are balled up shallow, a finesse arig is much better than a fluke, spinnerbaits, or donkey rig.
  14. Im thinking he was being a little sarcastic...its a GREAT way to catch some bigguns.
  15. T-rig and a A-rig!
  16. I'll play. Like Catt already said, you have to figure out what they want each particular day, BUT, I always start with a drag. I like to drag my jig until I feel it make contact with cover then pop it off the cover. Most of my strikes happen either when my jig first hits the cover or when I pop it off. Sometimes they like it when I "stroke" the jig!
  17. I'll either be on the Bend or Rayburn friday
  18. Ya'll are missing out! I throw the rig quite a bit and for the most part I use 65lb braid, but when the water is dead still and not much cover around I'll switch to a finesse a-rig with 20lb floro. I get ALOT more bits on this than I do on the braid. I think with floro, the rigs sneaks up on em and its more of a reaction strike. Once they see the rig they are more focused on the 5 baits and not the contraption, but thats just my opinion.
  19. Im hoping they are active Saturday morning ahead of the front. I dont see it messing them up though, if nothing else, it should start to drop the water temps and get em more active in the coming weeks!
  20. Its according to the cover you are fishing. In open water I use 20lb floro, but anytime there is wood or grass around its gonna be 65lb braid.
  21. I need to learn Tennessee bay better apparently. I can catch fish out there, but rarely catch much size.
  22. I got a Puma and love it!!!!
  23. Man I hate to hear that!! I dont know of any shops in your area, but I hope you get it fixed soon.
  24. Powell max 703cb glass is the most versatile cranking rod I've used. It handles lipless, squarebills, medium. And deep divers exceptionally well!
