Powell Endurance 714C is an outstanding pitching rod.

I own pretty much every brand of rod in the $100 - $200 price range. Dobyns, Powell, Phenix, IROD, Shimano, Abu, Cabelas, BPS, and Falcon. Out of them all, I would opt for the Powell Max or Endurance or the Phenix Recon.

The firing pin doesnt hit hard enough on mine. I sent it back to Stoeger to get it repared and it came back and the problem was not resolved. Still clicks about half the time I pull the trigger so now its sitting in the corner and Im back to my Remington and Mossberg

I have the 703 Glass and it handles all those things well!

I also own a Recon 764. Its a great rod, but I feel the Powell is a little more versital than the Recon. The Recon has more of a mod-fast action, which I like for close quarters pitchin, but The Powells ex-fast action seems to be better for more purposes IMO. I wouldnt tell you to shy away from either though, they are both great rods.

Powell Endurance 714C...I have a Savvy 734C and three Powells. The Powells are better rods IMO. I throw all the things you mentioned on the Powell 714C. Its gotta be one of the best all around rods made. Super versitale.

+1 on the Powells. I own a Savvy and 3 Powells. The Powells are superior rods.

Powell Deisal makes a good glass rod for $70.

Ill let yall have all the RI Swet Beavers yall want...all the while Ill catch fish on my Missle D Bombs. I have fished them all and the Missle D Bombs are heads above the rest.

Who knows...maybe I have no clue what Im doing. I have 6lb Yozuri on my one spinning reel and I break that stuff almost every hookset and thats with wacky worms and other finesse junk. 12lb is the lightest I go and thats on my deep cranking setup, other than that its 15lb+. To me, braid is key for frogs because of the lack of stretch which helps bury the hook. Frogs are hard to get a good hookset, even with braid sometimes, so Im going to put as much in my favor as possible.

Made me sick...LSU outplayed Bama for 3 quarters of that game. Les Miles mad some very questionable calls and Copelands penalty hurt us bad. Should have went for 4th and 4 instead of kicking a 54 yard fg and should have kicked instead of faking a fg on 4 and 12. Mett looked 1,000,000,000,000 times better and our rushing game was stout as always. What I dont understand is why we go to prevent defense last 2 minutes??? McCarron had -1 yards passing in the second half leading up to that drive so why change anything? I will give it to McCarron, he made the throws when it counted, but dang, the recievers were wide freakin open cuz they had 15 yard cushions...just stupid IMO. Anyway, I hate to see LSU loose but congrats Bama. We deserved it, but yall pulled out the victory...alot like last years regular season game, yall deserved it, but we got the W. This will be the only time I have ever pulled for Bama now so that the SEC can continue its rein!!

7'+ rod Mh/F or H/F 6.3:1+ reel 65lb+ braid I dont know how the heck some people use 8-12 lb mono for this kind of fishing. Around here, if you aint got HEAVY braid, you aint catching the fish.

I wish I had that kind of luck Saturday. I lauched at the bridge Saturday morning. Apparently there was some small tournament being held there. One guy in a boat wrapped with "The Boat Center" on it backed his boat down and just let it slide off his trailor. The boat came flying off and his prop came back and hit the back passenger side of my boat leaving a pretty good ding in the fiberglass. All the while he was in his truck just letting his boat float around. I was not very happy, but didnt want to cause any commotion. Anyway, the fishing was tough for me. Went and checked all my deep stuff. Caught about 10 fish deep, one being about 3.5lbs. I moved shallow and caught about 5 knots and then went home at 3. THat was my last trip up there till February probably. Disappointing considering the amount of fish and size I had been catching, but oh well, thats why they call it fishing I guess.

I would opt for a H/F rod for 3/4 oz blades with 15lb Yozuri Hybrid.

I have never fished either rod, but I can tell you that both companies are great to deal with and make great products. I own 4 Powells and 1 Dobyns and love them all. BUT, the Powell 695CB is on sale right now at TW for a price you cant beat! If it were me...Id be all over the Powell.

Nice report Bearonthewater...sounds like a dang good time and that was some awesome pics! Im heading back up there Saturday if the weather cooperates. Sounds like everything is happening shallow right now, but I refuse to give up on my deep fish. We will see I guess...

I've had the 764C for about 8 months now and I love the rod. The original rod did break on about my 5th trip with it, but I contacted Vince at Phenix and he shipped me a brand new one, no questions asked, and I didnt even have to ship back my broken rod! Cant beat that kind of customer service. The rod is VERY light and sensitive. I actually won 2 tournaments this year using this rod flipping plastics and jigs. I wouldnt hesistate buying another. Oh and by the way...one of the best looking rods around!

I bought 2 Caras for $49.88 and a Lowrider for $29.88!!

I fished mid lake area (Carrice and Slaughter) and only caught 20 fish yesterday, but I did have one that went 7.25lbs. All fish caught in 20 fow on 6xds and a 3/4 oz football jig. Fished shallow, but nothing to show for it.

Good luck Bearonthewater...I will be up there tomorrow for another day trip. Wish I could stay for a week or so though! Look for grass in 8 fow and throw a trap if you just want to catch fish. Ive been catchin my better fish on a jig though in deeper water. Should be fun, the fish should be back on after this last front!

Yeah I got the same report from 1215. Heard a 7 and 8 was caught that way Friday and Saturday punchin grass in 4-8 fow with senkos... Congrats on makin a check in FLW. Thats a great accomplishment!!
