Best Cranking Rod Under $150(Ish)
I own a BPS CarbonLite 7' M/M and a Powell 703cb glass. I love the CarbonLite for medium divers. It is sensitive enough to feel the bass inhale the bait, yet forgiving during the fight. The Powell is a heavy rated rod and handles deep divers and traps very well. My next cranking rod will be a Lamiglas SR705R!

Need Help. Hydra Sport Or Stratos?
Why was the Hydra Sport motor worked on? I would buy a motor that hasnt been tweaked, I just feel safer that way. If the hulls are good on both, the motor should be the deciding factor.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
BE CAREFUL!!! The Mcgee flats are holding fish, especially where there is grass, but it can be tricky to get in there. When rinning the boat lane, stay on the lake side of the bouys no matter what. Some of those humps and points come all the way out to the bouys and are very shallow. As far as fishing goes, cant go wrong with a red trap around grass right now!

Best Rod Under $110?
Personally, I would wait for the release of the Powell Diesel rods. Powell rods are great products and I would be willing to bet that the new Diesel rods will be above all other rods in its class. They will be $70.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
May be a late reply but if you can get to the Community Flats in Housen there are fish there. In Six Mile I would probably fish up Sandy Creek and at the mouth of Six Mile.

Bcs Championship
Im a huge LSU fan, but Bama won that won fair and square. There is no doubt that the 2 best teams were in the NC game. Although LSU didnt even show up for the game last night, there is no denying that they deserved a spot in the game. Although Bama got beat by LSU in the regular season, they were the clear cut #2 team in the country. Bama would have rolled on OK St. or Stanford by 3 TD's. Bama's offense and LSU offense/defense/special teams averaged 35+ ppg besides when they played each other. Just shows how great the 2 defenses were. Better enjoy the next 10 months Tide fans, cuz LSU returns 8 defensive players and I think 9 offensive!

Any Recon Users Out There?
I have a Recon 764C. Here is a short review. Initial thoughts on rod before use is that it looks great and craftmanship is equal to that of a custom. The reel seat and handle are very comfortable and it is super lightweight for a 7'6" rod. The guides are not micros, but smaller than conventional guides. After the first time I used the rod I fell in love. The rod is rated for lure weights 3/8-1 1/4oz, but it can handle down to 1/4 oz comfortably. I havent fished anything over 1oz on it yet, so not sure how it will handle heavier weights. The sweet spot for this rod seems to be 1/2 oz. I have pitched jigs and plastics with it thus far and the sensitivity is better than my Powells, Dobyns, and St. Croix Avid. The tip is a little softer than Powell and Croixs, more on par with the Dobyns Champion. This rod would work well with most any technique, but I could see it excelling at T-Rigs, Jigs, deep spinnerbaits/chatterbaits, and wake baits. I am very impressed with the Recon series and my next rod purchase will either be another Recon or a GLX. It is the best sub $250 rod IMO.

How's Your Duck Season Going So Far?
Now thats what Im talking about!! Ive never killed a goose in my life, its on my bucket list. The ducks around here are getting alot smarter and with all the rain we've gotten the past few weeks they have spread out alot. Catahoula Lake is about 6 foot high and all the standing blinds are underwater. I had to pull my floater out last week to keep it from pulling up the posts. They are still killing a few out there, but it's nothing like it was earlier in the season. Now on our private lakes we are still pounding em'. Killed our 18 in 23 minutes Monday morning. 14 gadwall, 3 woodies, and 1 widgeon.

Nice bag...looks like a great day. We are at 347 so far and half way through the season.

Avid Vs Duckett Micro Magic
Avid for bottom contact baits and Ducketts for everything else. The Avid is more sensitive IMO, but also a little heavier.

Carrot Stix Micro Guide Vs Duckett Micro Magic Vs. Dobyns Savvy Micro Guide?
I would buy the Dobyns. I have a Savvy 734 and I like it alot. The Dobyns are lightweight and balance perfectly. I am not a fan of anything E21 does. They are terrible looking IMO and feel cheap to me. The Ducketts are nice rods, but I prefer the Dobyns. One word of advice, the Savvy series have a very light tip, so you may want to step up one power to compensate.
- Dedicated Jig Setup.

St. Croix Rage Vs. Mojo
Try one...I promise you wont be disappointed. I have rods from St. Croix, Shimano, Powell, and Dobyns all in the $150-$200 price range and I can honestly say the Recons blow all others out of the water! I still love my other rods, but the Recons are just in a whole nother class.
-
St. Croix Rage Vs. Mojo
I wouldnt buy either. If you can fork out the money for a Rage rod, then why not go ahead and buy a quality $160 rod. Phenix Recons are the best in that price range IMO. The new Crucials and the Powell Endurance would be a better option too. I dont like the handle on the Rage rods, the 5 year warranty, and the quality control issues.

Dobyns Savvy Micro V. Shimano Crucial
I have both a Savvy and a Crucial. The Crucial is a tad bit heavier, but WAY more sensitive. The Savvy is nice for moving baits as it balances perfectly and feels great i my hand, but it just seems dead when fishing jigs and plastics. With the Crucial I can feel most everything. The 2 models I have are the Savvy 734 and the Crucial 7'M/XF.

How's Your Duck Season Going So Far?
I went to a private lake we own and we jumped up a few hundred gadwall that were roosting in there. Set up and an hour later had our 24 ducks on the water. Killed 23 gadwall and a GW teal. It was one of the best hunts of the year. We never went more than a minute without having a group of 20-25 falling in the decoys. Im going back there again Friday, but my dad's hunting it Wednesday, so he'll probably shoot em all out of there then so Friday I may be scratching for a limit. Catahoula Lake has slowed down tho. Besides your limit of canvasback, nothing else is a garuntee anymore. The water came up and they have been getting pounded out there for over 2 weeks now, so most ducks have left the lake. I am at 249 so far in 2 weeks of hunting. Im thinking Im going to reach my goal of 500 this year!

Whats The Story Behind Your Personal Best?
I was fishing the first week of March on a lake that is known for white perch, not bass. I had found a shallow creek channel (5 ft.) running through a flat full of button woods. I caught a 6 and a 4 right off the bat. Then at about 9:30 I flipped a Rage Craw by a cypress tree in the middle of the channel and hung a pig. Got her in the boat and weighed her in at 8lb 14oz. It was my PB. I was debating on mounting her, so I put her in the livewell. Fished a little while longer there then ran across the lake to a cove with the same type of cover. On my way in there I scared a big fish off of a cypress tree, but figured it was a gar, but on the way back out I snuck up to the tree and she was back on the bed. I could tell she was huge so I began casting to her. After an hour and a half, she finally bit a clear flake trick worm that was soaking in front of her for 5 minutes. Got her in the net and knew she was bigger than my 8 lb 14oz fish. I then realized that I had left my scale on my back deck when I ran across the lake and it had flew out of the boat. I had to drive to the marina and get them to weigh her for me. She came in a 10lb 1oz. I threw back the 8lb 14oz fish and mounted the 10lber!

Heddon Spit'n Image -How?
I like to fish it like a spook, but mix and up and let the bass tell you what they want.

Element 21 Carrot Stix® Wild Black Casting Rods
I think e21's goal is to see how ugly they can make and rod and see how many people are dumb enough to buy them. With all the breaking issues they've had and a terrible taste in color, I have stayed away and plan to do so.
