I heard about that! Im heading up there Thursday-Saturday looking for one of those!!

I went to the classic Saturday and saw the Rage Tail booth. I noticed a familiar looking guy, but wasnt sure if it was Big-O or not cuz he didnt have a 10lb fish in his hand . Walked up and introduced myself. He is a great guy and fun to talk to. He definately knows his stuff. He shared some tips on how to tweak some Rage Tail products to get more results with them, but that stuff is top secret . He showed me some pictures on his phone and let me tell you, the pictures he post on here are just a small sample of what he catches!!! I must have saw 100+ monster fish! ANyway, wanted to give a shout out to him and let yall know hes a great guy. And, try yourself some Rage Tail products, you wont be sorry!!

Look at the Academy H2O Mettle reels. They are only $50 and are great little reels!

I use a Powell 703CB Glass and love it for all trap fishing. Has plenty of backbone to rip out of weeds (which I primarily do) and enough give to fight a big fish.

I put on #2 on the series 5 and 6 baits and have no problem hooking up. I have not noticed any decline in the action of the bait either.

Well guys finally got on the Bend for a day. I launched out of Cypress Bend and ran into Lowes Creek. I caught about 30, mostly small males on a red trap and then picked up a jig and caught 3 nice females (biggest goin 5lbs) on the edge of the creek channel in 14 FOW. Got back to the ramp with 2 Game Wardens waitin on me. They checked everything known to man and wrote me for expired registration (which I didnt notice) and no boater safety course.

Black Lake is always hot this time of year. I also heard of some big mommas caught out there the past month and of people strokin em on a A-Rig. I wont be fishing up there until mid-March or so though. Gator Bait...Nantachie is a small lake on 71 North. Its just north of Iatt Lake. There are alot of good fish out there, but it is a very dangerous lake to run if you dont know where your going. If you head that way, my advice would be to only IDLE. Many people tear up LU out there every year. As for fishing, its fishing typical right now (red traps, jigs on wood in 10 FOW, spinnerbaits). I would start off with a jig and fish stumps in deeper water and when the sun comes up and fish start moving shallower I would pick up a trap or blade and fish around grass.

Wacth out for a kid named Andrew Upshaw. He was the college national champion and he grew up only 45 minutes from the Red River. I went to college. with the kid for awhile before he transferred to SFA. He can flat out fish, would love to see him win it!

5lb fish are common around here. Pretty much everyone I know has caught a 5+. I have caught serveral hundred over 5lbs...

What are some advantages of the Gunfish vs Storm Chug Bug? I love the Chug Bug, but have a hard time paying 2x as much $ for a bait to do the same thing.

A good length is 7'. You can do everything with a 7' rod. That being said, a 6'6" rod will be easier to work a jerkbait or throw a spinnerbait in tight spaces and a 7'6" rod will allow you to pith farther and get a better hookset on a C-Rig.

Ive been eyeballing the new Crucials for quite some time now. The 7'2" MH/XF should make a sweet 3/8-1/2 oz jig rod.

If I were in the marker for a new spinning reel, it would be a Fuego. At the price you can find em at at you know where right now, you cant pass that up!

I've had great success in the winter on ponds like that throwing a pop-r and popping it and letting it sit for 15-20 seconds at a time.

I've used PVC and christmas trees. Christmas trees seem to hold bait better whereas PVC holds bass better. Best case scenerio, put out a dozen christmas trees with buckets of PVC mixed in and around them.

I would keep the male as long as the female is locked on to the bed. If she is spooky and coming and going I would consider releasing him.

I've got a tournament on the Bend Mar. 3rd. Will be there all throughout Feb. Cant wait to get back out there.

I've used Berkley 100%, Invizx, and Sunline Sniper. Sunline is a little more quality line than the others, but a tad more $. Invizx and Berkley 100% are good too, but still $20. I'll second Yozuri Hybrid. Some strong line and very managable.

Not to get into religious posts on here but...that is ridiculous. Everybody knows that the outdoors is God's country! Makes me want to boycott NBC Sports.

6lb Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft is a good compromise between floro and mono. Easy casting, abrasion resistance, small line diameter, low stretch.
