  1. I was just wondering what pound test of line you guys use for each type of fishing. crankbaits, jigs and etc. just wondering how it compares to everyone elses. thanks
  2. The benefits of having a split grip vs solid grips is for sensitivity and it saves weight. I did it to my clarus and I haven't had any negative experiences with it. I just sanded it down to the blank, becareful not to sand the blank and just expoxy it. You can also take the front grip off too. Never tried it though.
  3. THE smoothest braid is the new stren with it's glide coat. By far the smoothest braid ever and trust me Ive tried almost all of them
  4. I've finally made the decision, and decided to get an expensive finesse reel. It will either be a used gold steez, or a aldebaran Mg from shimano. Both are 5.5oz in weight but the shimano is $389. while the steez is 489. What should I choose? I'm a proud owner of both companys rods and reel. any suggestions.
  5. flechero have you ever wrapped your rods with Fuji's Gold cermet guides with titanium frames? They claim it's smoother than the Sic's.
  6. I agree with Raul. I've been using my dropshot setup with 8 pound test magna thin and it is by far the smoothest line I've ever used. I noticed it isn't very abrasion resistant but drop shottin I don't need it to be.
  7. thanks guys I can't wait to build my first rod. I'm going to build it slowly and carefully and I'll make sure to post some pics to show what I've built from help from you guys.
  8. I just picked up 11 of varietys of lucky crafts at joes for around 70-80 bucks. amazing deal on my part. they were having a 60% off sale and I live in oregon so theres no sales tax. I would highy recommend getting some pointers and skeet reese deep and shallow divers.
  9. I'm thinking about building a 7 foot rod on a medium blank. Its going to be a split grip with no forgrip. some questions I have are what are the advantages in having cork for grips and eva grips. Also how do you shape eva grips? I would think that they would tear off if I try to sand them. Another question I have is, what are the advantages of having micro guides? Is it just for having a lighter rod? or is there an advantage to having these guides. thank you and have a nice day.
  10. how long and how much did this rod cost you? amazing job by the way!!!
  11. how long and how much did this rod cost you?
  12. I use mine for swimbaits and bigger bait presentation. I was wondering if you have one what you use them for and the benifits of having a round reel vs. a low profile one.
  13. I'm a starter to fishing for smallmouths. I caught many largys but this year will be starting to catch some smallies.
  14. The curado is better in mutiple ways. It has a magnumlite spool than the citica which just has a low mass spool. This makes the curado easier to cast lighter baits farther. It has more bearings, making it smoother, not very noticible but somewhat. It has bigger grips, better for swimbaits, cranks, etc, it has a titanium levelwind, the citica only has ceramic. those are the biggest differences between them.
  15. how much did this rod cost you to build?
  16. how much did the rod cost you? Just wondering because I'm trying to get into building split grip rods myself

  18. nice fish, sounds like a great day of fishing!
  19. Is that a Diawa Capricorn on a St.Croix Triumph?
  20. I just recently started fishing for smallmouth, them my normal large mouth. and I was wondering what kind of rod you guys are using. what length, power and action. thanks
  21. yeh, I want to get a Patriach but it doesn't come in left hand!!!!!!!!
  22. both sufix seige and elite is a good line to choose from, I personally like the seige better, its more abraision resistance without the extra memory. both casts great!
  23. i would go with the stradic mg, just as light. Honestly you wouldnt even know the difference. save some money for some new gear.
  24. mono-suffix seige flouro-trilene 100%
  25. AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!! Plflueger make some left handed Patriarchs!!!!!1 been wanting one forever. they come out this year with a new gearratio but no left hand? > :'(
