this biggun gave herself away. incredible story!
Paul, as always a fantastic fish, a well written story, and a beautiful pic. I am also very curious as to how you rig your bluegills. I do this all the time actually but I am not totally satisfied with my hookup ratio. Currently I use a 2/0 finesse hook through the upper part of their back(near the fins but not through the spine). It works but I can't help but think you have a better way...

Largemouth Bass - Nature's Most Perfect Killing Machine
This is the best bass article I've ever read! "In the summer months giant Largemouth Bass spend lots and lots of time doing absolutely nothing. It's as if they want to show off how chill they are by barely moving all day long. Unfortunately, that lethargy can turn lethal in a heartbeat as the Largemouth Bass is extremely short-tempered and will sometimes snap and indiscriminately kill every organism in sight just because his shade moved." So true. lol

First impressions of my new GLX
I bought this exact rod recently for 220$ and i think its a great deal in that price range. I would however not be as impressed if I bought it for $355(or whatever they're charging). Personally I'm quite satisfied with what it does for me. Its a finesse rod, so I use it for the lighter applications that require a little more sensitivity. I also have a st croix legend tournament 7ft med/fast to throw almost everything else I use. IMO my legend tournament can do what the glx does, but the glx is better at what it does.

The sequel to "How many licks to the center of a Spro Frog??" AKA the bigger better next day.
Alright that's it! Next time I hook up with a spro frog I'm running backwards! Uh, unless I'm in a boat. ;D REAL nice bass dude, wish I could whack two 6+ pounders in one day!

Bass off in CT
You're absolutely right it is off. About a month to two months ago I was freakin killin em with 20 bass days and good sized ones too. Now I still catch some bass but I can't get consistent bites until dusk, and even then its not like it was a couple months ago. Oh well I hope it picks back up when the fish realize they have to fatten up for winter!

LUNKERVILLE featuring BR's own Low Budget Hooker NOW PLAYING!
Haha my favorite part was when Mike goes, "Where'd you find that one?" LBH says, "In the water. You'll notice in RI they follow that pattern." lol I think we have that pattern in CT too LBH must be a New England thing ;D

Alternative to G.Loomis GLX BCR854?
I have recently been GLX shopping. IMO you picked the right rod in the first place lol. But if you want comparable alternatives listen to fishbear. Kistler Powell and maybe even Dobyns are worth a look.

Attractant Part Two
Good point. (No pun intended) x3 very good point I've pulled creme worms out of a bass's gullet before and they have no salt or attractant in them. But its not so hard to imagine that some bass are just dumber and more agressive eaters at the same time.

Attractant Part Two
Oh I know Bobby. I was just kind of poking fun at this whole scent/taste thing. I use megastrike and jjs sometimes. I like megastrike better simply because its easier to use. They both make em hold on. You mentioned that you've never tried jj's or taken it apart. It would be pretty incredible for a man like you to do just that and tell us what you think. I'm a little surprised you haven't at least tried it.

Attractant Part Two
Wait a minute Bobby, are you saying JJ's magic doesn't work?

New LMB PB (Top Water)
That's fantastic rondef! Topwater makes it better! I'm glad you posted this too because I have a picture of my PB (no scale) and I'm holding it the same way you are. Gives me a great perspective on how big mine is. Almost as big as that!

GLX shopping yay!
I surely will look at those. And yes I do expect these glxs to be more sensitive than my LT. I could really feel the potential in the imx. But I love my LT too!

Rage Tail 10" Anaconda

Best Spinning Reel
FLOOGER Supreme 75 bucks on ebay brand new. Those are hard to beat. And if pfluegers aren't your style and you want a heavier, uglier reel go with a shimano. ;D Just kidding (kind of) shimanos are great reels.

GLX shopping yay!
I may actually end up getting the MBR844C for heavier applications like jigging and heavier plastics. I guess I need two GLX's lol What spinning model GLX should fill in for what the MBR can't do well?
-
GLX shopping yay!
Personally I thought that they were very close sensitivity wise and I wouldn't necessarily pick one over the other. I am however expecting the GLX to be my new favorite rod. Thank you guys for the advice. MBR844C has come highly recommended I have heard, but isn't that a little heavy to fish soft plastics and lighter jigs? I thought you preferred spinning tackle for plastics RW?

GLX shopping yay!
Alright guys need a little help. I went fishing with Tokyo Tony yesterday and used his IMX 6'6 Med/fast. I was thoroughly impressed and it made me want a GLX. The only thing I didn't like about his IMX was the tip. Even though it was rated fast it really seemd a little too floppy for me (with plastics) I guess I'm just used to my legend tournament which is also rated m/fast but I swear its stiffer than that. So this new glx that I'll be buying will be primarily for plastics and perhaps some lighter jigging. I know that all GLX's are fantastic rods but which one is best for what I want? My first instinct is 7'0 ft med or med heavy power with an extra fast tip...

letting senkos sit in the sun
I'm sure you know this already, but what your friend is doing is softening the plastic and altering the action. If he prefers to fish them that way you could suggest he boil them for a short time. That will soften the plastic in the same manner plus its faster.
