  1. This is the topwater rod that I have been eyeing. This 6' beauty is the Gan Craft Killers Slaughter.
  2. Aren't the high end Megabass Rods Made in Japan? It would break my heart (and tick me off) if I bought that beauty and then found out that it was made by the Chicomms!
  3. I think that an arrow saw at an archery store should be the tool of choice to cut a graphite fishing rod.
  4. Other rods in the Loomis line up that I have looked at is the MBR845GL3, BCR855 Mossyback and the GLX 855 JWR. I have even talked to Bronzefly about the GLX. The GLX is what I originally wanted. I could put my CU50E on it and be done. The 845GL3 can be had for around $250.00 new and the Mossyback for a little less than that.
  5. I just got back from Gander Mountain and they had a pretty impressive selection of GL2's. They did not have the 855 but they did have an 854. I took my Scorpion XT1500-7 with me and I mounted it on the 854 and I thought that they were a great match. It isn't the lightest combo but the 855 should be fine for what I want to do.
  6. I am looking for a rod with a lot of backbone to pitch 1/2oz up to 1oz Tungsten weight plus the plastic into moderately heavy shoreline cover. I don't want a Flippin rod. I am looking at the GL2 855 JWR. I hear the GL2 has a really comfortable handle but that's it.
  7. Its the way the gears are cut at an angle.
  8. FYI, Japan Tackle has the Shimano Brenious 7.7 gears in stock for the Core 50, XT1000 etc. Unfortunatly, all they have in stock right now is gear sets for left handed reels. They are $42.00 plus shipping.
  9. It is under three hundred at JLS. I figure that the man has a really nice rod, why not put a really nice reel on it.
  10. I'd get the new Aldebaran 50HG fron Japan Lure Shop!
  11. I don't think the Zoom Super Fluke is a difficult lure to cast with casting gear if you are using the right rod n reel. A M or a MH Loomis in the Mag Bass line-up is what I throw Zoom Super Flukes or Yum Houdini Shads on. You need a rod with a soft tip. For reels, just about any Shimano baitcaster will work just fine.
  12. I am using 20# Suffix 832 on a Conquest 50DC with no problems and I know that I would not have problems with a regular reel either. I have also used 10#PP with an XT1000 and a Yumeya shallow spool with no issues.
  13. I thought that other than cosmetics, they are the same reel. I have not owned either of these but I do have a NIB Scorpion 1500-7 and I have used other Scorpion 1500's in the past and IMHO, they are a fine reel for their price.
  14. I don't know but I read the reviews on TW yesterday and there are a lot of unhappy folks out there.
  15. I believe that Super SHIP is the gearing.
  16. Welcome to the BFS world Mike! It looks like a match made in Heaven! Congrats Mike on such a beautiful combo! Now all you need to totally take advantage of that rod is a shallow spool when they make one for the Ald50HG.
  17. From the Powell website regarding the Inferno.
  18. With your Username, I was hoping that you were a little hottie Russian spy named Anna Chapman! LOL
  19. You can check out these reels on Shimano Japan's Website. Shimano.co.jp If you have never been there, you click on the little fish at the top. Then click on Japan. Then 'Product' at the top left and then 'Reel'. The reel pic that intrest you is middle row fourth down. You will need to translate the page.
  20. How much line capacity do you need?
