  1. Alright, roadwarrior, that thread didn't really help but, thanks anyway. I did try the holes... I couldn't find a single decent weed patch... ended up catching a few small bass off a trick worm and a rapala crank. The lake just plain sucks for fishing. I do not know where these stocked walleye are hiding out at. Guess I'll take my serious fishing somewhere else...
  2. I'm going to a small lake in a couple hours and just wanted to get some tips on how I should fish it. The lake has pretty clear water, sandy bottom, only a few patches of weeds, and it's 1-10 feet for the majority of the lake. There are a couple holes that are 20-40ft at the deepest spot. Not much structure that I know of, if any. I have caught bass in the shallows but, not bigger than 14". I have found a 20"+ washed up on the shore though so there must be a few big ones in there. Lots of gills. Carp. Dogfish and gars, and it was stocked with walleye a few times. I haven't caught any yet though. So how would you go about fishing this lake for walleye and bass? What should I use?
  3. Thanks man. Those finesse worms do seem to be pretty popular.. Any other recommendations?
  4. Alright, my dad is going to Cabelas tomorrow but, I can't go because I have to work but, he said he'd pick me up some lures if I told him what I wanted. I don't want to go all out...maybe only spend 30 bucks but, I was just wondering what lures/baits you would suggest I tell him to pick up? Thanks.
  5. :-/ That's why I asked. I was just wondering what the most commonly used are. Thanks. Haha @ bandaids, fishbear... I feel you.
  6. IYO what kind of sinkers, hooks, and any other rigging accessories are a must have in any tackle box? Sorry if it's a stupid question but, I'm curious.
  7. Awesome. Thanks for the replies.
  8. LMB - 3 pounds Walleye - 24" Northern Pike - 32" Bluegill - 10 3/4" Crappie - 14" Dogfish - 24"
  9. Just a few days ago I had a carp take a big ball of worms on a crawler harness. My friend has had success with a bait he made from an assortment of crushed bugs mixed in bread dough. There are a million recipes on the web for carp bait... I think the basic corn on a hook has had the most success.
  10. I need some new tackle and just wanted to get some ideas from you guys before going out and buying. So what are your favorite lures/baits? What always seems to work?
  11. i'd say more ugly than mean... and squishy... kinda like a roll of cookie dough that has been out of the fridge for too long Yeah, I guess ugly would be a better word for em. They are definately pretty squishy and slimy. Notice those hooked bottom teeth though...
  12. I caught a bass just last weekend that was completely blind in one eye too. Weird. That is a monster perch! Good job.
  13. Here's one I caught not too long ago. 24" 5#. They are mean looking..
  14. Ok, I get it. I guess I've just never specifically went for smallmouth. What kind of baits do you use to catch them? I've caught a couple on crawdads before..
  15. I would go buy some sexy shad cranks but, there's no money for that right now... For now it's hula poppers, jitter bugs, rapalas, and spinners. I really do need some new tackle... :-/
  16. I've always wondered why smallmouth were harder to catch than largemouth. Not that there's anything wrong with catching lots of largemouth but, why are sm more elusive?
  17. Jackson county. Where at are you?
  18. I agree with whoever said "PLENTY OF BEER". If you can't catch any fish, at least you can catch a buzz! Worms and a bobber never seem to fail to catch some gills when there's nothing else.
  19. Heh, thanks everyone. Glad to be here.
  20. Hey. I just joined. Can't wait to start talking FISH on here! I wondered if there was such a forum and sure enough... hell yeah. Anyway, cool, I look forward to posting and learning a lot here. Alright, later.
