  1. Man, I'm surprised to hear the outcry against flouro in here. I use Seaguar Carbon Pro on two of my baitcasters and I havent had any issues. I realize its stretchy, but I grew up on mono so I'm used to a little stretch on the hookset. I bought a used reel with P Line CXX on it and I'm curious to see how that handles.
  2. You arent one of those guys I saw on the fishing show, trying to catch the world record bass are you? I believe they ended up finding the fish dead, floating near the dock. Bummer, sounded like the guy went after her every day for like 3 or 4 months....
  3. Nice deal. I have $50.00 gift card at BP, so I am gonna head over and try to find a good match for the Citica 200d. Stoked!
  4. Thanks! I think I'm in total agreement so far. With the Tour/Triumph and the Accurist/Cabelas set, what rod would be ideal in my situation for the Citica? I'm thinking 7' Avid, whatever I can afford....MH perhaps for larger presentations also a rig I can use in muck and heavy cover. Does that make sense?
  5. OK, I took your advice djmax and the combo is working well. I picked up a Citica 200d so I'm still debating what the best combination of rigs would be for what I have left: Quantum Accurist Citica 200D 6'6" Cabelas IM7 M rod Thinking of adding a St Croix 7' Premier for either the Citica or Quantum. Whats the best fit? The Citica seems large, so my gut feeling is to rig that with the 7' rod for frogs, big worms, big jigs. Use the Quantum with the 6'6" Cabelas for topwater, smaller lures? Am I on the right path?
  6. Perhaps finesse worms, maybe crankbaits.....
  7. What's Simpson? Is that a park in Fenton?
  8. I have had good results with Seaguar Carbon Pro. Its stretchy, but that doesnt bother me at all, in fact I prefer some cushion vs. the directness of braid (Power Pro).
  9. We have access to a couple of farm ponds, two are about an acre and one is two acres. These are very nice, not really farm ponds but they tend to get monotanuse after awhile. We hit Kincaid and Goosecreek pretty frequently but I havent done very well at either. I will have to check out Perryville.
  10. You guys have any favorite holes you feel like letting another local guy in on?
  11. Thanks! Why would you use the Tour for soft plastics, b/c its beefier? I currently have 12lb flouro on the Tour so perhaps I will stay with that set up.
  12. I have a few different rigs that I bring for LM fishing, usually in small ponds. Here is what I'm throwing at them: -Quantum Tour edition PT on a ST Croix Sport Triumph 6'6" MH Fast Action. I am thinking of respooling with Sufix Elite 12# mono and using this for frogs and big topwater only. -Quantum Accurist on a Cabelas IM7 6'6" ML (8-17lb). I have Seaguar Carbon Pro #12 on this rig and this is my workhouse rig for spin bait, rapalas, cranks and some smaller topwaters and even Paca Craw foot ball jigs. -Plueger President spinning combo 6'6" M rod with 15# Power Pro braid. This has been my frog and T-rig set up exclusively. I like the sensitivity of braid for soft plastics, but I'm leery of braid in deeper waters. My issues are: I have a hard time throwing 1/4 oz rapalas and such on the Accurist, perhaps my technique is crappy or my line is too heavy who knows? I am thinking of adding another Accurist (BPS sale) and setting it up for even lighter bait. What do you guys think of my approach? I am set to do some more big lake fishing this year and I want to make sure I'm dialed in.
  13. I have used The Toad quite a bit however it tends to spin on me. That may or may not matter to the LMs, but it bothers me.
  14. I have had a Accurist and a PT Burner for about a year and I feel like I should maybe lube these up a bit. At least I'm assuming I need to lube these things. Is it as simple as taking the cover off and lubing the gears? Any input?
  15. Does Yo Zuri Hybrid stretch as much as Seaguar Carbon Pro? Is the hybrid strong enough for ponds with underwater structure? I have been using power pro but visibility worries me.
  16. Boy after reading all of the hype Yozuri Hybrid is getting maybe I should take a look at that.
  17. I have tried braided line (Power Pro, thought it was "ok", but was paranoid that fish could see it or hear it, it's all about confidence) on my Quantum baitcasters, but I swithed to Seaguar Carbon Pro. I like the Carbon Pro but it feels a bit "stretchy" to me and I'm concerned about its toughness. Any opinions on Invizx? Is it me, or do I get more backlash with flouro vs. braided on a b/c? I have heck ofa time casting smaller Rapalas and such. I typically fish smaller ponds, but will make the occasional trip to deeper lakes so I would like something versatile. Thanks in advance!
  18. Grandpas 1 acre pond has become a real hotspot.
  19. This pond has been a real enigma. It is known to have some lunkers, but the bite is real spotty. In my experience small ponds can be more susceptible to hot and cold action. I finally pulled a nice one out, and I'm pretty sure there are larger ones than that to be had.
  20. I have been fishing the heck out of a small family pond this year with the knowledge that lunkers are present. I posted some nice catches by my 9 year old, well I may have topped him. We went out last night and it was another slow, late summer night as far as bass are concerned. I caught a pounder immediately on a chartruese Terminator spinner, then a few hours passed and nothing. I tried worms, frogs, craws, Rapalas, etc couldnt get a hit. Went back to the Terminator, ran it parallel to the dam, slowed it down a bit, then boom! 5 pounds+ 21" It was about time, I was wondering if I was going to see anything with any decent size this year.
  21. Black, jointed Jitterbug and big, black, Colorado bladed spinner have always landed fish for us at night.
  22. You and me both brother! Its ironic torture to watch your 9 year old pull those in. You obviously want to see him have loads of fun, but wouldnt it be nice.......
  23. Whats your guess? It measured at 20" we thougth 5 lbs, but many folks have said that it looks larger. Any thoughts?
  24. I agree, I measured it at 20", but I still havent picked up a new scale. Awesome catch, that kid is killing me lately!
