Best Bass Angler of all time
According to Bassmaster's website for Angler of the year debate info: Clunn 58 Years Old 1 AOY 4 Classics 14 Wins 13 2nd's 11 3rd's 97 Top 10's 148 Top 20's 150 Top 50's 28 Times in Classic 213 Times in money Roland 65 Years Old 9 AOY"S 0 Classics 19 Wins 19 2nd's 6 3rd's 92 Top 10's 132 Top 20's 191 Top 50's 25 Times in Classic 185 Times in Money I know that there's a big debate about which carries more weight Classics or AOY"S when the Pros were asked this past year what they thought had more most of them said AOY because it took more to win it not as the classic is who's hot for a one day event an angler has to be on their game all year to win an AOY Skeet Reese agreed on the debate show and was mentioned by other Anglers on Basscenter. I gotta say it's real close you could even say it's a tie good thing we the people vote but you know that Clunn works for ESPN and the fix is not out of the question we the people don't have access to the ballot results or electronic missed votes as it were. Outboard Question
Put a bigger motor on then the 50 sometimes a bigger motor will get better fuel economy just because it doesn't have to work as hard. If it were my boat I would not put anything less than a 75hp motor on. I have an aluminum Tracker 17' deep V now with a 90hp Merc on with two anglers, gear and 30gallons of gas I can reach 42mph. That 115hp motor that the Gambler has sounds good plus you may hit 50mph with that one if speed is on your mind. Chow The Pa Angler

Best Bass Angler of all time
When Roland started fishing there was no real money in Pro fishing, if you take all of his accomplisments and calculated them in todays market he would be the top money winner of all time. He also was a spokesman for B.A.S.S. in it's early years he was a primary figure in B.A.S.S.'S success to where it's at today. Chow The Pa Angler

Best Bass Angler of all time
Let us not forget as well as 9 AOY'S for Roland he also had 19 Tour wins, 19 or 20 second places as well and won three tournaments in a row. It's hard to compare eras because rules change in everthing including NASCAR he did what was leagal. Doesn't the FLW still allow the use of Guides? I thought they did. I would have to agree that Martin and Clunn deserve to be on the top there's know one near what those two have done and if you look at all catagories Martin is the MAN. Roland's last win was in 1993 if I remember correctly he retired in 1992 and then came back to win that one in 1993. Isn't Roland like 10yrs older then Clunn? Roland's in his 70'S and was around 60 when he last won. How old was Clunn when he last won? Chow Tha Pa Angler

Boat Question 1: Available Service?
I purchased my boat new from a dealer they have gone out of their way for me and when warranty work was needed it was done fast. I must say Tracker backs their products not like what I've heard about Smokercraft and it's problems. Chow The Pa Angler

Need help with battery setup
Thanks Eagle, didn't know about the isolator just ordered a 1-2-70 for my boat from your link. The cranking battery that came with my boat was a group 24 left me dead two times didn't last with livewells, lights and accessories running so I got two group 27 batteries and hooked them up parallel which maintains 12 volts but doubles the run time of the weakest battery didn't have any trouble so far didn't leave me" DIW "dead in the water solved that problem. Will install the isolator when it comes. Everthing but the trolling motor was hooked to the cranking battery from the boat manufacturer there was no recomendation to use a seperate battery from Tracker or the dealer for the accessories. Thank You The Pa Angler

On board charger problem
My portable charger has three settings one for maintenance free, one for low maintenance and one for a full maintenance battery. If your battery has caps that you can remove it's not maintenance free the maintenance free batteries today are sealed that's what what I was told by the boat dealer. Also my portable charger has two amp settings 2amps and 10amps I always use the 10amp setting. To get more info on batteries go to Interstate batteries website there's info there that explains the different types of batteries. www.interstatebatteries.com Chow The Pa Angler

On board charger problem
I agree with Gambler to charge the cranking battery I always disconnect the battery from the boat if something is left on then there's a constant drain on the battery also with the battery hooked up your sending the charge through the entire boats electrical system there by reducing the amount of charge to battery, resistance and current draw are created by all the wires on the boat. I also do the same, when needed on my suv as well when charging a dead battery. Hope this helps. Chow The Pa Angler

Prop advice? Boat is sloooowwww
Question? Isn't a four blade prop more for torque than top end just something I thought read somewhere. Yes after checking my Bass and Walleye boats August 2005 magazine, Yes August it does say that a four blade will help get a heavy load to plane quicker and turn better but are a tad slower on the top end. You should pick this magazine up it has a very good article on props and a listing of props by manufacture. You also might want to call mercury or email them about your situation. Although sounds to me with the extra weight you need a bigger motor a prop can only tune performance so much 40hp will still be 40hp no matter what prop you put on unless your motor is out of tune and your onlly geting 30-35hp out of it. A stainless steel prop will give you more top end though because it won't flex under load like an aluminum prop does. I have a friend that is running a 16' mirrorcraft aluminum Deep V refitted with plywood such you have done with a 35hp Evinrude with an aluminum prop and gets about 17mph on a lake with no current with two adult males and gear onboard. You said yours is 15' fiberglass which most times will weigh more than it's aluminum counterpart. So maybe where your at is as good as it gets but don't give up get trying and good luck. Confused about using the color "Red"
I change all my trebles to red, After doing my own on the water research I've found that fish tend to grab a red tail hook rather than the non red belly hook when positions where reversed the fish went for the red belly hook rather than the non red tail hook do your own research and see if this holds true for you. Keeping the "Dinks"
Selective harvest is now the game. You do need to take some dinks so the adult breeders don't have to compete with the many small ones for food Infisherman advocates selective harvest. Here in the north we keep some Walleyes for the table 3lb to 6lb fish is a good slot for selective harvest. Most anglers I fish with and myself don't keep much else but we probably should. Of coarse the smaller the impound the more there is a need to keep a close eye on fish population they could eat themselves out of house and home. Chow The Pa Angler

Fish dont like smokers?
I've seen Bream attack normal everyday spit as far as that goes. Just imagine all the bad breath I wonder if Catfish will like it.

Fish dont like smokers?
Ya know Low Budget One that sounds like a good idea maybe I need to propose this to the tobacco companies "MMMMM" sounds like a plan for a six digit income "MMMMMM". LOL

Fish dont like smokers?
Sometimes I wonder if all this talk of masking human scent on lures isn't a marketing scam to sell lure scent. The original Creme Worms had nothing but human scent and caught tons of fish so why not tobacco products on lures. Hey maybe the fish will get a nicatine addiction and then we can put chew on all our lures and catch more fish. "LOL" Chow The Pa Angler

How do they do it and why?
In May of 2004 I bought a Tracker Targa Deep V 17SC (94" beam) with a 90HP ELPTO merc with power trim, 24v trolling motor with auto pilot/copilot and an Eagle 480 fish finder, galvanized trailer, boat cover and a Lowrance LMS480 fish finder/gps unit for under $14,000. The same boat now costs over $3,000 more go figure. I did add a stainless prop later for $400 and it did increase speed by 3mph not a 65mph boat but a good 48mph with just me and enough gear for the day not bad for that size boat. I'm a weekend angler so the 48mph is plenty fast it does have a 30gal fuel tank standard. Chow The Pa Angler

The pond dries up...Then what?
Transplanting is illegal here in PA as well, so maybe you can find another pond and with the owner's permission transplant there. Chow The Pa Angler
