Powell Endurance 6101
I'd go medium light. I think that's more of a super finesse rod.

Icast 2014
I'm very excited for Duckett's line of casting reels. I'd like to see some lefty 8.0:1 ratios for flipping and frogging.

They have some of the best customer service!

Cabelas Tournament Zx
I'm a Duckett guy, but I played around with those sticks. They are really nice! Good purchase! Congrats. Side note: if you paid $90 for a Triumph, you got ripped off....

Swing Jig/hard Head First Impressions
I appreciate the tips, but I was writing about SWING jigs (like Biffle Hard Heads), not SWIM jigs... DO you fish swing jigs?

Swing Jig/hard Head First Impressions
Yesterday I tried a swing jig for the first time. I paired a 3/8oz Mustad Fastlatch head with a 4/0 Gammy Superline EWG work hook and a baby brush hog. After watching Biffle on Youtube for half an hour, I felt that I had enough of an idea and was ready. I chose a small pond with a nice rocky stretch and no grass as my test zone. I used a 7' MH Duckett Micro Magic, Lews Tournament Pro 6.4:1, 20lb Seaguar Abrazx. Making a long cast parallel to the bank, I let it sink before reeling it fast enough to keep it bumping the rocks, my rod at about 8 o'clock pointing towards the bait. I got a ton of bites, but just couldnt hook more than two, and only landed one. I think, in retrospect, I should have used a stiffer rod. I basically used my spinnerbait/swim jig rod, which I had a feeling wouldnt set the hook as needed. I'm gonna try again today, but with my 7' H Duckett Frog rod. Biffle also preached at least a 7.1:1, which I understand considering he likes a 3/4oz. But I was fishing shallow and had only a 3/8oz, so I think the 6.4 was sufficient. Round 2 today. If any of you have any tips for me, please share them here. I'm trying to learn this technique. Thanks! Tight Lines! -Mega

New Powell Rods?
How far back? They came out with the Timax and Inferno last fall. Is that what you mean?
-
Efttex Show Coverage?
I heard there is some cool gear being shown at this show. Does my one have a website that has pictures/information on the new products displayed at this show?

Icast 2014
Care to elaborate on that? What are you showcasing?

Icast 2014
Strike King KVD 8.0: magnum size squarebill to complement the 10XD. Makes sense with the obvious trend this year in magnum crankbaits.

Braid + Duckett Ghost
No complaints with my ghost. I have the 6'10" medium casting model that is my topwater rod. I spool it with 30lb power pro. Great set-up!

Icast 2014
Megabass JUST posted this on Facebook: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3fS0YJVAwo Jump towards the end: are they trying to copy the wiggle wart?

Icast 2014
I'll bet you're right! I'd almost put money on it that its a Fat Impact ripoff. It Might work, though. I do like the Havoc Beat Shad.

Icast 2014
My love of fishing gossip wont allow me not to start this thread.... Its that time of year! New baits and equipment will be coming out very soon at ICAST 2014. SOmetimes, we get some info on one thing or another. Feel free to share anything you read here! I'll go first: -Abu Garcia Revo Beast: Toro-sized reel with a Revo profile that has a 7.1:1 gear ratio -Duckett casting reels: There have been threads on this already; and we all know its coming -Strike King: KVD Swimfish- i think this is another bladed swim jig, but it could be a trailer for a bladed swim jig. They also have some niche crankbaits coming out. Anyone else want to jump in?!?!?!

East Stroudsburg Pa
Well, the Delaware river offers some good bank action for smallies. I like the Bushkill boat launch area. Fernwood has some awesome ponds right next to 209, but the owners hate it when you fish there. You're not too far from Wallenpaupack for your kayaking needs. Dunkleburgers has two locations in your area and has a great tackle selection. I like their newer location. Then there is always Wallenpaupack Sport Shop and Hunters Gallery. If you like to live dangerously, drive to the Milford/Dingmans Ferry area. Lots of small community lakes that get zero pressure with some awesome fishing opportunity. Good luck!

Is 20Lb Pp To Much For A Spinning Reel?
20lb is a good choice for spinning gear. But no more than that. Like prefer 10lb.
-
20Lb Pp On Bc Digging In?
Thin braid always digs in. Use no less than 35lb on a baitcaster. 40-50lb is my bread and butter.

Unexpected Catches
Here's one for you: fishing the tidal Chesapeake Bay in a club tournament yesterday. Was throwing a strike king rage blade on some riprap. I boat two 4.5lb largies, then proceed to boat FIVE catfish. On a Rage Blade. Are you serious!?!?!?!?

Bass Tackle Depot?
I NEVER buy things from them because their inventory isn't great and they take forever to ship. You'll get it eventually.

Dissapointed With The Strike King Rage Blade.
I want to jump in here. I had written about how I don't like the Rage Blade before. It rides too high in the water. I had a tournament on the Chesapeake Bay yesterday, and all the fish would hit (in my area) was a black/blue rage blade with a pearl white Little Dipper on the back. They wanted an erratic stop an go retrieve. Yes, I tried an original Chatterbait with no success. Everything has it's time and place.

[#3] How Would You Fish It!?
Bladed reaction baits. High water, bass guarding fry. Chatterbaits would be my number 1. Spinnerbait, and if the water weren't too stained, swim jig.

Just Ordered My First Frog Set Up, Any Advice On Frogging?
Here's my biggest tip that's helped my success frogging: take the time to learn how to skip a frog under docks and overhangs. The fish that live there rarely if ever see topwaters. Not to mention if you botch a cast, you have a weedless bait tied to 50lb braid. Don't hesitate to throw the frog across open water in place of a spook or popper. It's every effective.
-
[#3] How Would You Fish It!?
The frog is the most practical choice. You can cover water quickly with it, it is snag less with little pickin grass off, and the entire pond is shallow, which means you're always in the strike zone; according to the conditions. This senerio is BUILT for a frog!

[#2] How Would You Fish It!?
Jigs dont always bring up much and weeds; only when you fish them in areas with much and weeds. I was under the impression that there was no grass. If there was grass, I'd toss the lipless first. But a lipless crank is not my first (or second, or fifth) choice for fishing drop offs with NO grass.
