  1. Thanks for your comments everyone! That wasn't his biggest bass - 2nd biggest. His biggest was 19.5" long. The hook incident was pretty brutal ;D ... I didn't let it ruin my day though. Best of all, it freaked the kid out a little I think he has a new respect for fish hooks now which is a very good thing!
  2. The kid always gets a nice one evry time we go out! Today we hit our local lake and the water was very high. The word on the lake was noone was catchin' nothin'! 20 minutes in my son catches a nice 18" largemouth on a watermelon, wacky rigged senko. I, on the other hand, caught nothing... unless you count burying a treble hook into my finger! It took 20 minutes of yanking, pushing and cutting to get it out... quite unpleasant :'( ;D ;D ;
  3. I read in Clark's that there are tournaments in the Connecticut river every weekend in the summer. I have a summer in camp in Warren, NH which is pretty close to the Connecticut river in Haverhill, NH... which is where the tournaments are I think. I was wondering if anyone has participated in these tournaments? I think it would be great to enter tournaments with my son and we are at camp every weekend all summer so I was hoping you guys might have some info on this???
  4. Thanks for the reply. Do you use your boat primarily for Bass fishing or does it serve as a multi purpose boat for you?
  5. I looked at several boats today. I really like my boat but I think I'd eventually like something bigger (mine is a 15 footer). I went to a Tracker dealer and they had a lot in stock. I looked at an Avalanche, Nitro Z6, Pro Team 175 TXW, Pro Team 190 TX and a Tournament V-18 All Fish Coastal Edition. The Avalanch was so nice! But... probably more boat than I need. I also loved the 190 TX, it was really big... lots of room to fish and great storage. I'm asking about the V-18 all fish because it seems better than a "bass boat" for fishing 3 guys... and I do that a lot. Plus, the coastal version has vinyl instead of carpet. We mostly fish for Bass but I like to splash in the salt now and then and go for Stripers and this boat seems like the ticket. I'm not ready to buy yet but I would really like to hear from anyone who owns this boat. I'd also like to hear opinions from anyone who'd like to share Here's the boat: CLICKETY thanks Jay
  6. Interesting thread! I must ask though: where do you folks live that you're able to stroll out onto a golf course and start fishing? I've never tried it but I know for sure I'd either get tossed by management or chased away by some golf club wielding madmen ;D
  7. Nice! Any pics without the cover?
  8. This is the place that has a new one... give them a call: http://www.dovermarine.com/
  9. Great post George! You've posted some really nice pics of big Bass and happy looking kids! Pretty much all of my time on the water is spent with at least one of my kids. My son is always with me and when I can, I get my daughter to come along as well.

    Thank you all for the kind words! I can't wait to get the kids out fishing again.
  11. fishhard, First and foremost, thank you for your service. I wish you a safe and happy return to fishing!
  12. They did stop making them (shame) but I know where there's a brandy new one... I was considering buying it. I don't know if it's cool to mention dealers here... PM me if you'd like.
  13. That is awesome! Great fish! My 6 year old son outfishes me every time and I love it. He recently caught a 19.5" largemouth and he was in his glory.
  14. I wish I had some digital pics of my first boat. I bought it in 1994 and it was a 1979 Galaxy 20' cuddy with a Mercruiser 240 170hp I/O. I kept it in a slip 9 miles from the ocean and used to go out once or twice a week. That was my 1st saltwater fishing experience. I sold the boat a year later after I bought my first house and didn't get another until last year!
