Oh wow did that bring back memories! I played trumpet for 12 or so years - from 5th grade through college. Performed many a half-time show, even for the Seahawks a few times. I was in a AA high school, where being in a music program was "cool". Half the school was enrolled in a some type of music class. You could even letter in it. I was in all the different bands by the time I graduated - concert, orchestra, pep, two jazz ensembles, and marching. I was playing 6-9 hrs a day. My high school band teacher was a terrific mentor and friend. He really cared about his students. To this day, I'm still in contact with him. Good times!

It's with great sorrow to tell you that Al Wohlbach, a member since 2006, was killed in a motorcycle accident on August 21st - the last day he visited these forums. Al was a terrific contributor and knowledgeable angler. He was always helpful and willing to pass on his experience to others. He will be deeply missed. My condolences to his family, and his friends here on BassResource.

Although I don't have one, I've been on boats with the new ultrex terrova, and boy, they really work! They really do lock you on a spot. Great for fishing deep water. That said, no matter the make, they all simply "lock" the trolling motor in place. They can't control the swinging of the boat due to wind. So they're terrible for fishing beds, tight quarters, spots where boat positioning is critical, etc. Just something to think about.

The Booyah Flex II was introduced this year, and quickly became my favorite squarebill. There's just something about that balsa-like action that the fish really like. This smallie just ate it!

First off, ya, I know it's not about fishing, and it is kinda corny sounding. But dang is it fun! I think this would be a good Christmas gift for nephew, neighbor kid, etc. But really, it's fun to play with as an adult too. It's all in good fun.

A true sponsorship is when a company pays you cash to sell their products. It likely includes enough free products for your personal use, but that's tertiary. The meat of the contract outlines what you'll do to promote and sell their products in exchange for X dollars. And like others have stated, there is indeed a written, signed contract involved. As the OP stated and others have clarified, there are also various levels of "Pro staff", that often involve free product and/or other perks. The more each side will do for each other, the higher the likelyhood a contract is involved. However, programs that merely offer discounted products for a fee are nothing more than that, a discount program similar to Costco. That's great for somebody who really likes their products and uses enough of them to offset the fee. But it's not a 'sponsorship'.
