Ebola: Hype Or Legitimate Threat?
Just ran a quick analysis using CDC data. Based upon the overwhelming barrage of news stories on ebola, which do you think the news should focus on? Sensationlized Diseases Data: 1999-2013 – people who contracted the disease in the U.S. and subsequently died from it. Virus U.S. Cases Resulting U.S. Deaths West Nile 39,557 1.668 Bird Fle 0 0 SARS 8 0 Ebola 1 0 Car Accidents ???? 33,000 per year That's not to say these aren't terrible and prolific illnesses worldwide. They do need to be addressed and eliminated. But the news hype in the U.S. does not match the actual threat level. Not even close.

Any Reason Not To Leave Rods And Reels In Boat Rod Locker When Stored?
Depends on whether or not your rod lockers are water-proof. If they're sealed and dry, no problem. But if they're prone to letting moisture in, then I'd take everything out.

Struck By Lightening
Had a big thunderstorm pass over our neighborhood last night, packing quite a punch. While many thunderboomers were quite loud, none were as loud or as explosive as one very memorable strike. The explosive sound accompanied the bright flash simultaneously, so I knew it hit nearby. Although it startled us, everything seemed fine inside the house. After the storm blew over, I noticed the next door neighbors were outside checking their house with powerful flashlights. I asked them if they thought their house got struck, and they said it DID hit their house, and they were checking for damage and/or fire! Holy smokes! Turns out they suffered a direct hit. Although nobody was injured, several TV's, computers, and other various electronics took one for the team. The lightening struck no more than 30 yards from where we were sitting. Close enough to trip a GFI circuit in our house. No wonder it was so loud. That's the closest I've ever been to a lightening strike. I have no plans to be that close again.

Odd Things That Bass Spit Up
In the past 6 years, I've had two dead mice coughed up in my livewell on separate occasions.

Which Truck Do You Prefer?
I've seen this truck up front and personal at the RoadTrips, and it's a SWEET ride!
-
Which Truck Do You Prefer?
The Tundra's are nice, but they don't have a diesel model, nor a dually option. Those were deal breakers for my last truck.
-
Which Truck Do You Prefer?
Are you looking to get a new(er) truck? If so, it would be helpful to know if you're looking at new, used, gas or diesel. Also, how much weight do you plan on towing, and do you tow up/down mountains.

We Lost One...
Terrible news. Like others, we were at odds at times, but I still respected him and his knowledge. Sad day indeed.

The Road To The Super Bowl
Despite the worst officiating I've seen in years, Seattle overcame the yellow flags, led by Russell Wilson’s 122 yards rushing, a record for a quarterback in the 45-year history of Monday Night Football. And for all the focus and talk the Legion Of Boom, the run defense has quietly snuffed out every opponent's ground game. Seattle now holds the title of having the best run defense in the NFL, allowing just 249 yards on 95 carries in four games this season, just 2.6 yards per attempt — no other team in the NFL is allowing less than three yards per attempt. The Seahawks longest run allowed this year is 16 yards, tied for the lowest in the NFL.

The Big Bass World Championship - Little Help?
Bass Resource is partnered with BASSIN and THE BIG BASS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, and it is time for the finals to crown the 2014 BIG BASS WORLD CHAMPION. The finals will be at Ft. Gibson Lake, on Oct 18, with a pre-tournament meeting Friday night Oct, 17. I would like to extend an invitation to Bass Resource Members to come out and visit the weigh in. I would also like to extend another invitation to Bass Resource boat owners. Bassin’ has had some marshals back out due to unforeseen circumstances, and we are in need of a couple of Marshals for the tournament. What does being a Marshal consist of? Basically, being a taxi driver in your boat, with two state champions fishing. They alternate half days, front and back of the boat on the trolling motor, and you drive the outboard. No electronics, no helping, no fish talk. We will be filming for 30 second and 15 second commercials for 3 networks, as well as filming for a 30 min infomercial. A camera release form will need to be signed, and Marshals will get dinner on Friday night, lunch on the boat Saturday, and dinner Saturday night at the awards dinner if you want. Some sponsor product for you as well will be given to each marshal. If you can help please contact Brad Uhl at BASSIN Magazine at 918-364-4210 x 132 or email at brad.uhl@freshwatermediagroup.com

New Sheriff In Town
You beat me to it! But thanks for breaking the ice! Gene (Flukemaster) and I felt it best for Gene and his goals if he were to retire from moderating here at BassResource. We're going to miss him in that role. However, he's not gone. Far from it! Gene will still be an active member here and will continue to contribute to the forums. So it's not "goodbye". As Gene transitions to his new role, I'd like to welcome our newest moderator, Bluebasser86 (Clayton)! Clayton has been a terrific member here for several years, and is passionate about bass fishing. He's a police officer too - what better than to have him as a moderator? Please help me give Clayton a big welcome, and a huge thanks to Gene! Glenn
