Yep, that was already posted here. I'm guessing you didn't want to go through 13 pages of .......um.......the same thing over and over. Pretty clear indication this thread has run its course.

The "Stupid things you did as a kid that should have killed you thread"....
Aside from the lawn darts, chemistry sets, clackers, the Thing maker (creepy crawlers), shrinky dinks, and other assorted things a kid in the '70s could get into... Homemade bombs, Molotov cocktails, homemade smoke bombs, bottle rocket wars, calcium carbonate + water in a small container and a spark = boom, and several very large neighborhood fireworks shows. All this led to .... 6 years as a professional pyro (seriously). Of course, the fireworks danger wasn't enough. I had to light them off of buildings like the Space Needle (yes, climbing around the exterior of the building), barges (nowhere to run), and from the ceilings of sports arenas. I leave it up to you to figure out how we got up there schlepping explosives. Guess I had a death wish when I was young. My last show was at the Space Needle on New Year's 2000, when there was a terrorist threat to blow up the building during the show. I was on that building, wondering if a truck was going to crash into it to blow it up. I decided I had a good run with no serious accidents or injuries, so it was time to hang my hat up before I had a bad memory. Good times. 8-)

MIKE HOLMGREN.
Well, the 'Hawks stripped Holmgren of his GM duties while in Seattle. Nobody could see why. But then again, the 'Hawks wouldn't allow Zorn to become coach, and nobody could see why at the time either. :

7' medium heavy rods...
I wouldn't throw any crankbaits with it. It's not the weight of the bait in the case of crankbaits. It's the size of the hooks. Take a MH action rod and pair it with small hooks = disaster. I have to ask, why set your mind on a rod before assessing your needs? Seems more logical to decide what you want to do (what technique), and then looking for a setup to match that need.
-
Dropshot Rod Suggestions...
I'd go with a 6' 10" med-light action rod. I have several, and can rig them either with a dropshot or splitshot rig. Very versatile.

All Purpose Rod
The 783C has been my all-round, all-purpose rod for years and years. It's extremely versatile. One thing I've noticed is that tall guys like longer rods. I'm 5' 8", so a 783 is a comfortable fit. If you're over 6', then you might like the 843 better.

I don't think it's fair to imply ALL employees of discount department stores have low morals, or are uneducated. I'm guessing nobody here really means to do that, so just be cautious how you phrase things. Case in point: I worked as a janitor (building maintenance) at J.C. Penny while maintaining a 4.0 average in college. Yet folks who saw me pushing a broom or cleaning toilets treated me as inferior, discounted what I said, or just plain ignored me. I now make it a habit to extend a friendly "hi" to every janitor, street sweeper, or garbage collector etc. I see BEFORE I acknowledge others in the same room. So just be careful about making general categorizations. You really don't know the person wearing the uniform to make that judgement call.

Free hooks
I'm not sure I understand why people are taking things personally here. I mean, it's a hook. Sheesh. If somebody doesn't like the kind of hook you're using, why should it bother you? Big deal. Seems silly to get all bent out of shape about it. I don't get it. :-/ As for TT hooks, I use the original "camshaft" hook in limited applications - straight forward Texas rigged worms on baitcasting gear in weeds and other "soft" cover. They're a pain to sharpen and you can't skin hook 'em very well, which means the point will stick out every now and then (hence the "soft cover"), but I don't loose fish on them either. So I deal with it. And yes, they rust too. Other than that, I use Gammy's for pretty much everything else. I've been intrigued by the Trokkar hooks. They're scary sharp. But they're a bit rich for my blood.

I tried that initially, but all that did was spawn other threads. These two were the most consolidated I could get without new threads being created.
