Any safe ice in Haverhill Groveland or Boxford??

Whats going on guys. Been a while. I been fishing up in NH since my buddy lives 2 mins down the road from Angle Pond... Alot of big bass in there and tons of docks and other things you can play with. This one ate a purple senko right underneath the dock in front of the picture. My buddy managed a 6 pounder off a Motor Oil colored Powerworm.

Me and my buddies are heading up friday until sunday night to campout at the Sebago Lake State Park. Were bringing a boat and plan on doing nothing but fishing and eating. This will definitely be the biggest lake any of us ever attempted to fish. Figured i would make a thread and see what you guys have to say about the fishing this time of the year. Were basically after LM & SM but of course crappie & white perch etc is always good. Were just looking to have a good time.. 3-4 lb fish would be awesome. anything will help.. Not looking for your favorites spots or stuff like that just some decent info.

Has anyone owned a Sea Eagle or a boat of the same material? I believe its like PVC the same stuff the coast guard uses. Me and my buddy have a small leak (very tiny) We patched it with rubber roofing tar that seemed to do the trick for half a season. I would use it again but i am all out and have no idea what the brand was. I guess i am curious if anyone has fixed leaks on these type of boats. I saw they make that Flex Seal that comes in a paint can. But i have never used it.

So I found this boat online and he's asking for $60. To me that sounds like a steal. It does have a small hole. I'm curious do you think it's fixable?

Went yesterday for a bit at the end of the day. Dragged a small swimbait on the bottom and texas rigged a 7" power worm. Definitely going tomorrow for awhile. Probably add a crankbait & jerkbait.

For the guys that ice fish.. Whats a good artificial bait i can use to tip my little jigs that will improve my hookup ratio. Going after panfish.

How is the fishing at pawtuckaway in nottingham? We needed to test the new motor so we decided to go there. Only did a few casts but it was mainly a test run.

Fished the merrimack river behind my house in Haverhill. Got there around 5:30 and first cast caught a smallie.. Got 9 more after that. all dinks but it was fun on light tackle. It was the outgoing tide so there was a lot of beach to cover.. When i was packing up i switched over to a Purple/Black/Blue booyah spinner and made one last walk.. Reeling in and BOOM! had my PB smallie on the line and missed him at my feet. If it was anything under 3LBS i would of been shocked. He hit like a freight truck, i actually thought it was a striper since there running right now. Sucks i couldn't hold it, but atleast i know he liked what i was throwing lol.

Any of you guys ever fished PowWow pond? I drove by it the other day and i saw a small section with lillys starting to grow in. Looks deadly for topwater.

Little update on our outting we had on Friday. Nice pickerel were biting also perch. My buddy got a pair of bass maybe a half pound each.

Heading out around 11 until sundown. Hopefully I can finally get on the board!

I can confirm this past warm weather really got them moving around and possibly on beds! My buddy was out driving out around at 3am with his girlfriend (ya i know 3am). He decided to stop at this lake in North Andover we visit often. From 3am to 4:30 they were both crushing big bass and she don't even fish. They landed 4 bass over 4lbs and missed about 8 he said. He messaged me on my phone and i was already awake having my coffee i was like dude you gotta pick me up i cant miss this.. By the time he picked me up and we dropped her off and went back to the lake 45 mins has passed since he left the lake.. What happens?? They 100% shut off we through everything for 3 hours i was pretty bummed but i know its not over. Tons of bait fish moving around breaking the surface.. Looking real good. They got all their fish off those Powerbait Swimbaits (shad) u can get a pack at walmart for like $2.50 they were just dragging them on the bottom. I might of made a similar post in 2014 because we had the same luck on the same bait same lake same time of the year.

Went to wilmington (silver lake) first time.. No Luck went back to my hometown (Haverhill) no luck... Still going after trout.. Warming up for them bass

no bass fishing for me yet, hope to try soon. Been taking advantage of the stock trout for easy dinners Been doing pretty well with catching our limits every outing. Went out on the boat Saturday and got some on rooster tails. Packed up the boat and went on the beach to set up some powerbait and grabbed 2 more within the hour. I am def ready for some bass fishing though. Got a new rod and plan on throwing some big swimbaits this year.

Merrimack River guys.. Is it worth shore fishing right now? I don't have a boat so ill be pretty much stuck in one spot.

I just can't believe their going forward with the ice derby this weekend. All that rain yesterday and 60 degrees today.

This ice season has been junk.. I'm connected with a couple pages on facebook for the MA & New England area so ive been seeing quite a few people out there fishing the ice. About a month ago me and my buddy went to a local pond and took all necessary precautions. We drilled a hole a few feet from the shore and it read about 5 inches or so. We walked out to our normal spot.. Usually the ice makes noise even if its a foot thick and didn't this time. So we get to our normal ice spot and drilled a hole.. It read the same, 5 inches. So now were excited to say the least. I start setting up the first trap while my buddy continues to drill holes for us. He did about two walking horizontal from me. I was bending over to drop the minnow in the hole when i happened to look up (that quick) and i saw my buddy treading water trying to get out. I fast walked over to him and he just couldn't get him self out, I new he was panicking (i was to) I told him to relax and take a breath.. So he did.. I wasnt thinking at the time that he obviously fell through thin ice and now i am standing right on it.. I gave him my hand and it was tough to get a grip with my feet slipping on the wet ice... but he got out.. I mean i keep thinking about that day and so much could of went wrong.. We could of been drinking (like we usually do) we could of had all of our equipment spread out if it happened a few hours into fishing. I dunno, It didn't happen because we didn't know what we were doing. Apparently that spot was just the last to really freeze. This incident doesnt scare me off from Ice Fishing.. But i definitely aint going out there again without real thick ice.. Not worth it to me.

What hook do you guys prefer when you wacky rig a senko?

Can you guys recommend any lakes close to North Conway that has Lakers. I would love to catch one this ice season

Any of you guys gather your own minnows for the ice season? What's needed to keep them alive through the winter?

Thanks DogBone. As for the depth I have no idea its not listed on mass gov. It's basically a scenic pond if that makes sense. There is walking trails around it and the main reservoir. I actually never used a buzzbait before I'll see if I can grab one this week.

This time of year how would you guys go about fishing a small basin. It's pretty tiny and your not allowed kayaks or anything. To get an idea of how small this pond is I could run around it in 5 mins or less. There is a pipe that leads to the main Resevoir which is actually the main drinking supply for the city. There is no fishing allowed on the main lake but I have and others occasionally sneaked in and caught some massive bass. The tiny pond also holds nice bass I am assuming came from that pipe one time or another. What would u guys recommend right now for this pond? With a heavier bait I can hit the middle with ease. Any help would be great.. Wanna get out a couple more times
