Fort Leonard Wood, MO
An update for our original poster, I went out to Bloodland Lake this morning and caught 8 dinks in a couple hours out there from a boat. I was fishin a KVD sexy shad. Worked pretty well. I think there are some quality fish there, but it really helps to have a boat. The crappie where biting on jigs from bobbers too.

How Would You Handle the Situation?
Hehe, I know hindsights 20/20 but I'm pretty sure, I'd have just heckled him and egged him on. It's funny to watch idiots get mad. I doubt I'd have done anything physical but it sure would be funny to watch ;D

Skunk Must Be My Middle Name
Well, you can tell a lot by how they fish. Are they fishing REAL slow? You can pretty much tell by how they are retrieving/holding the rod whether they are crankin, rollin a spinner, working plastics/jigs etc... Most likely, they're using something you've already tried but the presentation is different. Just pay attention next time to the speed of retrieve, and the action they are imparting to the presentation. Try weightless, slow retrieves, and also try adding weight and speeding it up a little bit for worms. Also try slow rolling a spinner by structure or grass. Good luck!

Unwelcome House Guest
Me too, I've got 2 spiders on my front porch that are quite big. They spin webs every night (i think they're orb weavers) and they catch and eat a good amount of bugs. As long as they leave me alone I leave them alone. I do hate walking docks in the morning though. I can't stand walking through webs.

Lake of the Ozarks 20 SEP 09
We caught a bunch on a lipless crankbait (think rattletrap) but the bigger fish were all on dark colored plastics. T-rigged.

Berkley Lightning Rod Shock Series
Just received a couple Shock rods in the mail. For the price they look awesome. I haven't fished with them yet, but I threw around in the backyard a bit and they REALLY seem to sling lures a long way with a good BC'er. Anyone else fished these things?

when do you keep bass?
I'm like one of the guys above. I like pretty much any fish for eatin (besides carp). I'll keep bass every once in a while if I'm not stocked up on crappie in the freezer. I don't keep big, old bass. Better to keep them spawning I think. Most of the lakes I fish, it's illegal to keep anything 12-15" and the minimum is 15".

LOZ baitfish questions?
I've spent alotta time fishing empty coves the last few weeks. Don't plug away at a cove that's not producing. Seems like when I find the fish, I know it pretty quick.

Found Lost Crankbait!
I lost a rod catfishing on a local lake off a dock (Lake of the Ozarks). A week later I get a phone call from my Dad of all people (doesn't fish) and says he just happened to take his daughter fishing and they caught a fishing pole and do I want it? I say, is it a quantum rod with a zebco platinum reel on it? He says "How did you know?" Weird man. I'd never even fished that dock before(or since).

Lake of the Ozarks 20 SEP 09
Went out today, and FINALLY nailed down a reliable cove for some fish. I swear I was getting to think LOZ didn't have many fish in it. Anyway, I caught a 1lb 2oz crappie on a power worm, about 8 bass, including this 4lb 14oz largemouth. Great time was had by all. My partner didn't catch any keepers, but he caught a nice 15 lb flathead on a KVD Crankbait (sexy shad).

fishing glasse's What do you use and how much is too much to spend?
Wiley's are ok. I've used them extensively at work (lots of different models). I've probably got 10 pair of them. I still use walmart glasses. Just a thought. Take it for what it's worth

does it pay to get out before sunrise this time of year ?
Not sure really. I haven't been having a lot of luck early lately. Seems like late afternoon/evening is where it's at around here. Just my observations. I been beating the sun to the lake for the last month and I've caught more fish in late afternoon.

fishing glasse's What do you use and how much is too much to spend?
No money for a good pair ? Well, I could afford it. However, I go through like 6 cell phones a year and like wise with glasses. I know my limits At least when I break/drop/run over my walmart glasses I'm only out 10 bucks

Berkley Lightning at Walmart

The do's and donts of boat launching
I'm in the "30 second crowd" I'm a nonboater, but I usually do the "backing" while the boater is in the boat. Soon as he gets buoyant, he's off the trailer and I'm parking the rig. Make sure your partner knows how to back trailers and your in good shape!

Waning Interest?
I don't own a boat, so I fish as much as I'm able. If that means every weekend, I do, if it means once a month, that's fine too. I do SOME pond fishing but I like big lake fishing more than anything. The rougher work is , the more I am interested in fishing. So, I haven't lost interest yet. We will see how it goes when I've got as much time/money/experience into the sport as some of you guys do. I'm sure my story will be similar.

Crazy Boat Crash!!!
I was out the other morning in VERY thick fog, and there was some idiot pulling a skier. Visibility MAY have been as high as 15-20 ft. At the most.

use for a broken rod/pieces?
Or make a reel respooling station using the handle as a base and make a spool attachment somewhere around the first guide.
