  1. Not deep and the love I get and give to God, my family and friends is what sets my standard; Hollywood is all about fantasy, standards are real.
  2. He is an Irish guy who grew up in England and came to New Orleans :Cleary is a great musician. You should hear him play guitar, he picked up piano later in life, and he is a killer piano player. He comes from the Professor Long Hair/Dr.John school, but has added his own touch!
  3. No. Most of the folks I listen to currently are iether from Memphis,Texas or Louisiana. I like that swamp funk/ blues fusion sound lately Dr.John Jon Cleary Walter Wolfman Washington
  4. Me too, very proficient player with a ton of technique and not a whole lot of feeling. A lot of those English guys are like that. The funny thing is a lot of guitar players rag on Keith Richards, and I think he's one of the few from across the pond that actually has it right. The Black Keys are just not my sound I have no opinion on them at all, just not for me
  5. I am officially old, I don't feel them at all. I went to you tube checked out a few, not my bag
  6. That would be Johnny if your version is from the HARD AGAIN COLLECTION the band for that album and tour, icluded Johnny Winters and James Cotton, great recording!
  7. I wouldn't include Mayall on any of my lists. I saw him a few times in the 60's and 70's , just did not have the feel right for me
  8. History: Dr John( aka Mac Rebbenack) had history with Etta, from way back. BBKING was doing a show case, and Mac switches places with the organists and watch Etta's reaction and then the both of them singing , in tears and holding each other; This connection with the deepest of human feelings and the ability to connect those feelings, exactly with a live audience is what brought me to the blues!
  9. Now Team Depends in the House: Saw them at Newport Folk Festival a long time ago. Check out Son House, and early Bonnie Raitt, that's who she learned from! 8-) Love the McDowell Reordings; do you have any Lightin Hopkins?

FRI NIGHT??? CALL ME FRI IF NOT FRI NEXT WEEKEND
  11. Crap; RED HOUSE should have been there, thanks! I love Johnny Winter, like I said that was a quick list, I could easily triple it in size!
  12. I had 2 experiences with the Boron rod, sold by BPS under the Browning name. Both 100% pure garbage, just plain cue stick/brittle garbage with really poor workmanship on their guide warps. Big disappointment, I didn't even know they were still trying to sell them. We won't even take them for the giveaway program. Why give something to someone that is bound to snap anyway? If you want to spend 120 on a rod ( I am sure others will have good suggestions too, I only talk about what I have used) take a look at these Fenwick HMG Team All Star IM 10's ( cheaper) Cabelas Fish Eagle LL ( 80 bucks) Cableas XML 140, some on clearance now for 40 to 70 bucks Stick with graphite, this Boron thing, if it was so good how come they never really caught on?

Keith I respect that point of view. I still feel that he belongs in the hall of fame, and >>>Matt you do not know a thing about baseball. Pete Rose is not a role model ( or roll model as you put it) he was among the greatest baseball players. As of 2007, my last visit ( of many) to the HOF noticed that Pete Rose has the most memorabilia of any one player exhibited at the Hall, and he is not in it. So let me get this right: it is OK to ban him, but it is also OK to use his stuff as a draw to make money? I would rather hang out with gamblers than franchise owners and their bandit commissioner any day. His son, not he sold those , muscle relaxants ( you work in a hospital if i am correct) that are used as a date rape drug, how is this from the PETE ROSE CAMP???? I did a lot of stuff I am not proud of, my dad bears zero responsibility for my behavior, why should Rose and his kid be any different Here's the deal: Athletes or famous people should not be granted special favors to get out of jams, but they should also not be judged harsher than the rest of us. How much punishment is enough for someone? The way you hand it out, I hope I am never at your mercy, and when you need mercy I hope you find it from someone more understanding than yourself
  17. Thanks Tom, well said! However; Man can under fish, especially in man made impoundments, where the fish are no longer stocked and self sustaining. You can cause an overpopulation of very small and sickly fish if the quotas the 'managers' have set for harvest are not met. This is a different situation from the ocean. The oceans and the natural lakes and rivers have evolved , over eons to where they are. Most of the reservoirs talked about here ; are man made and less than 100 years old, big difference in management needs.
  18. The estimation in PA is 85% of bass angles catch and release. What if the sky was falling? We went from keeping everything, to keeping nothing. There has to be a sensible point in the middle somewhere. I would bet that most recreational fisherman do not even know how to clean fish. I have to point out, I do not care about others who fish for trophies and the companies that serve them. I do care about following my game laws and i have to also say I have only killed a couple of fish in the last dozen years, both went to folks who were fishing for the table, I have had friends ( including my every day partner) in the boat who frequently take fish home to it. I support them, and they also obey the laws. It is my passion and my past time, I do not appreciate others trying to determine how I should spend that time.I fish for me, not ayone else, and I do it LEGALLY!

As much as I would like to see Pete in, that is a ridiculous argument Sam. Two different sports, two different governing bodies. One is a scholastic/amateur sport, with different rules and guidelines as the other is a professional sport.

It's good to know you tell the truth 100% of the time. Pete Rose's bookie , if you want to call him that took checks??????? I bet a lot of my life, no bookie would take a check, it was part of a chain of evidence that a felony and on going racketeering was going on. Pete was set up, the checks and betting records that were entered into evidence showed he bet on sports, he bet on baseball; in games where his team was involved; HE BET ON HIS OWN TEAM. People who come clean about bookies, usually break out in broken bones! Stick to football Matt.
  21. I do not fish for records. I pay for my license and obey all the fish and game laws. None of this is anyone's business but my own, Didn't Billie Holiday say that first? 8-)
  22. This mook has retired more times than Liz Taylor got married
  23. Muddy replied to frogtog's topic in Everything Else
Right there with you, unless they take those records away, this is why I walked away from the game. Pete Rose did not alter the outcome or records of any game he bet on. Had he bet AGAINST his own team, that would have been a different matter.

There are drunks, dopers, gamblers, womanizers, racists and 2 convicted drug dealers in the hall. Pete broke a rule , he did bet ON HIS OWN TEAM, forgiveness is a wonderful thing! ps they banned Willie Mays form MLB, including going to games, because when he was RETIRED , for 2 years he had the audacity to represent a Las Vegas Hotel Steinbrenner and his buddy Fugazi were convicted of perjury and illegal campaign contributions and he was allowed to keep his team

Santos and Carl Furillo should both be in the hall, 2 biggest glaring exclusions right after Rose
