What was the process that followed those directives is what I am curious about.I am coming off this , it has been a great discussion in everything, but I see where this can get sticky now Jake Thanks, I didn't think anyone else was interested in that research and it has been a long time since I thought about it. Once again if you know some reading can you PM me with it. 8-) ps it would a shame if my time line is wrong and give credit to the wrong scientist. They really struggled with a lot of outside issues, trying to get this research done.

Yes Jake, absolutely correct. However the Watson models came later, after the Helix was mapped out. I have read different accounts. I will try to find the article, Watson's later works may have been questioned somewhat, but the later works, got some more complex compounds than Urey. There is an issue as to what the atmospheric pressue and what the exact value of the gravitaional effect was at the time. If you can point me to the info, would be greatly appreciated. Some of my favorite stuff studied years ago.

The question was not "Why not study the Earth on Earth?", the question was, "What does it matter how the earth was formed?" Watson and Creek, more so Watson, after they decoded the DNA sequences, created an atmospheric model of what was in the air, pre mankind. DETERMINED FROM ROCK AND SOIL SAMPLES HERE. They ran an electrical current through this , at the approx. Atmospheric pressure the earth had in those days Result: Oraganic compands and precursors of amino acids formed and feel onto the bottom. This can, and will someday help us understand how life ( First formed on the great oceanic floor) first showed itself, and how we evolved from this. If you can get DNA Amino Acids to form, you can do certain work, without the use of human tissue in the future. If you know how the earth was formed,it will help us understand where we are today There is a scholastic debate going on, as rock formations on EARTH, have shown that the polarity of the Earth, reverses from time to time, and we have been over due for this. Since this would majorly mess up GPS and Compasses of all kinds, it would be good to know. The issue is the signs of global warming are similar to the signs of this reversal, so what exactly are we seeing here? If we know how from the every beginning of things, earth and life formed we will know what is going on geologically, climatically and medicinally

Quote on whywe should be on the moon: Knowing how the Earth formed tells us what the Earth is made of. Mineral and rock location in the Earth tells us about Earth's many processes, i.e, how mountains are formed, how oceans were formed, why California is breaking off the US coastline, why the eastern coastline is losing land. This information gives us a better understanding of plate tectonics, which helps us predict volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and weather patterns. I hope this does not startle you, but we already know a great deal of this information. I got a lot of it from a non science GEOLOGY course I took as an elective. If you spend about 6 months watching NOVA, this is also pretty evident. I am gonna take a risk here, but I would bet the best place to study the evolution of earth, would probably be earth. ;D

Wow: we spend all that money, to go to a barren celestial body, that will never support life, but we can cook food faster and shoelace factories will be closing world wide I say lets spend a whole pile more to go to Uranus, because it sounds like the place all these good ideas come from anyway

While I do not feel your enthusiasm for the moon landing, I agree that it would be great for us to make such a ten year commitment to finding a solution to getting us off of oil dependency. The greatest achievement of mankind : From Paulings identification of the Amino Acids present in DNA to Decoding the Amino acid sequences of the DNA Helix, by Watson and Creek . We will get more knowledge of how we evolved, maybe even an understanding of the big bang theroy, disease cures and an array of medical benefits we have not even discovered yet,

Why is it a good thing, to create jobs to spend a lot of money, to go where no man has ever gone before There are ways, right here on earth to figure out how the earth was formed The moon, is hostile, with no water vapor The idea to colonize it was long since ditched Maybe it has some tactical use for spying and such we did not go back and as far as using it as a stop over, in longer trips, space stations proved far more valuable. Now they are looking at Mars; I guess it is just human nature to find out the answer to I Wonder What's there The end of the Viet Nam war, the successes of the civil rights movement and the end of a recession is what brought things together, not the moon shot

Screw competitive fishing, never have been competitive and never will be Fishing is my fun, relaxation and passion. Who cares if the fella fishing with me puts more in numbers or weigh into the boat. Frequently I will put the person I am fishing with on good fish, to watch them have some fun. it's fishing fellas, doesn't take much "talent " to go out and have fun.
