I have Rapalas that have been catching fish for 5 seasons, VMC hooks seem to be holding up, and except for a few Pickerel Teeth marks the paint is just fine. I am weaning the Manns baits out, as I have just come up with a few shallow running Bagleys ( 6 bucks a pop) that have no rattles in them, which I prefer. I know you have way more experience with reels, breaking them down as such, and i respect the fact that you prefer a different brand, I do not see the advantages of LC and Japanese Baits over the baits that I use, especially when the results ( fish in the boat) are equal

And from the pics you post we have similar catchs, whats y the point. If every once in a while I have to tune a Rapala, a slight twist of an eye, or spending 14 to 17 on a bait not to do that, and the results are the same? You do not always get what you pay for in life, some things are plain over priced.

like i said, ive fished them a ton......in the store..........lol. let me ask you, what brought you to buy a Carrot Stix or any other rod/reel? the feedback on this forum is probably 100% responsible for me not buying some gear and 60% responsible for the current gear i have. i dont have to use them on the water, some boys i respect a ton did that for me. thanks guys!!!! Some of them come from folks who have never used the equipment, there is product steering on this and other forums and I use what I buy, and then I use the product, if I like it then it becomes part of my equipment. I do not need other's approval or recognition on how I spend my money or what I use.

Big money contracts have been known to make people do wacky things, but I thought the same thing. Why did he sell it if he loved it so much? I'm surprised that this kind of thing wasn't in the contract he signed when he sold the company. Similar to Catt: 1/2 ounce pure Anise oil, in 4 ounces of Bait mate Bass, I put it in a pray bottle. I used to just use plain mineral oil, until I saw Catt post that he puts the Anise in Bait mate, except I use the BASS ( brown) formula. I also like the Anise/Carwfish Smelly Jelly Two of my buddies swear by JJ's, sucess videos aside over rated ! just supercharged garlic to me. Anise has always been my favorite.

It's all about hype and dollars. The pros depend on the tackle and boating industries and these industries use the pros to sell stuff to the fishing/boating world. It is that way by design, the pro circuit is more important as a marketing platform than as a sport. You can't judge a business man by what he does, the nature of business is to hide the money fellas, it happens with every professional sport, why would fishing be any different. The major movers and shakers in this sport are about money, selling products, trips, boats, tackle and guides, even forums such as these , bottom line is profit. Pros are not saints or sinners, they are business men, you only know their images and those images are made to sell

I have 5 Pflueger trions, new 99 each, I got all 5 used for 45 , fish em hard, with out any issues. Mine are on my rods, in my boat and they serve me well. If you do not know how to cast, practice it isn't the reels fault. All the companies: Pfluger,Shemano,Diawa all make cheap, graphite reels that are just not as good as when you hit the aluminum frame models, all of them do it.

I have never tried the Rat, so I can't say The Locust is not nearly as good or effective as the Jitterbug.
