  1. Please take some time to make sure that the line is coming off the feeder spool in the same direction it is going on to the spinning reel spool. If you let some line out off the reel, and kind of hold it in a loop, close to the tip, it is a sure sign you have some nasty coiling going on, usually caused by the line coming off in a different direction than it is going on the reel. You can either let it out behind a boat, with the trolling motor going ( Nothing on the tag end at all) and then reel it back in or you can walk the line off in a field and rewind it, this usually will take care of twist. Mark your feeder spools with a marker or any other way, so you know what direction the line is coming off, it will save you a lot of headaches.
  2. Sure, they hold egg year round. Pretty sure they can go more than twice also. Same thing here on 2 bodies of water in PA Russ, we have had several nights in the upper 40's,water temps in mid to low 60's , also last 40 days we have had slightly over 8 inches of rain
  3. Negative, but I found the booklet from another member who read the thread, cost me a couple of cranks, but worth it
  4. Muddy, those aren 't site deals, those are only in-store deals at the bargain bins, only problem is you have to dive into the bin to see what you can find. I 've purchased Risto Raps, Rattlin Raps, some Shad Raps, Fat Raps, Glass Shad Raps, Original Floaters, Husky Jerks and Taildancers at $1.99 ea. Remember those boxes I showed packed with Rapala 's ? guess how I filled them. Thanks, I thought I missed an opportunity for the giveaway program, nearest BPS is 58 miles away, too long to go browsing the bins :-[
  5. I thought this was about the Madonna concert in Detroit>>>> my mistake!!!!!!!!!
  6. Geee what were the odds that you were the one to design and build the perfect jig ? how surprising
  7. Yup, several times at BPS. 2 bones a pop Not Original Floatersd or Shad Raps at 2/per I scan site constantly, never seen either ot thier 2 oldest and biggest producers for 2 bucks
  8. Good trick, learned from the Jetty rats: If you try the snap method, in a current, do it more side arm, than overhead and sweep back when you feel the lure come loose, lessens the hang up potential; Works better than overhand for me.
  9. LOL Muddy. Depending on the ball you play in golf, they can cost about four bucks each. I play two dollar balls. No different than fishing. Some days I lose none, other days as many as six or seven. Golf ain't a good substitute if you worry about losing gear.Maybe knitting, needlepoint, or crochetting. Yea, but at least you get to wear funny pants while you play it. ;D
  10. I find that current or lack of current has an effect on getting jigs out of rocks successfully. In the presence of a current, on rivers and when I am fishing the Jetty in Breezy, if you get the jig free, the current can put it right back, if you do not use a more profound snap, best way I can describe it. The current has a nasty way of flipping the jig, so the hook is prime to reset it self on rock, this does not happen in lakes Bait casting rods by nature of how they are built, have a different action than spinning equipment( in relation to guide placement/spline) so the action is different when using the bow and arrow method of dislodging single hook lures from rock, major difference in the respone to the motion, which is what pulls the lure free. I thank you anyway for trying to straighten me out , since you get to fish all year long, and I am limited to the summer.
  11. Hey Crestliner: I use 3 types of slider heads, but instead of the older grub/worm they sold I put a 4.5Bush Bug on em, SLAYS em in the weeds!
  12. Take another look at Micro's post . I also love the President Spinning reels, but his link and discussion is about PRESIDENT BAIT CASTING REELS!!!! Geezz, did you even click on it, he took the time to post it :-/
  13. Well if you fished bait casting equipment in FRESH WATER, you would see the single best way to get a single hooked lure: Mostly jigs and t rigged plastics , out of rock is the sling shot method. I first learned it at Lake Fork Texas, I forgot whether it was LBH or Glenn that showed me this, I can tell you I fish 100 days a year and me and most of the other fellas I fish with have around a 90% success ratio with this method. In deeper and shallow snags.
  14. I find fishing rock in lakes always, iImean always more effective fishing deep to shallow, better and more fish this way , almost 100% of the time.( have tried both ways to prove this to mysealf) This was one of the first things taught to me when learning how to jig, thanks Catt for that! I like to use the lightest jig HEAD: I do not used regualr jigs I use Jig heads with plastic trailers. Burley hit it on the head, you are going to loose jigs, get used to it or buy golf equipment Glenn is 100 % right : either Go back in the opposite direction, with a bit of pressure they frequently get unstuck LEARN How to Bow and Arrow them out Football heads work great in rock, so do some ot the Slider Snagless heads. Most of my fishing is done with these 2 heads.
  15. Muddy replied to Dixon's topic in Fishing Tackle
You can also use them as a trailer on jig heads, they are excellent when used this way aka the wrong way
  16. I am not in the MOST OF US CLUB either. I use Berkley Trilene XL, and I really did not see any benefits using any of the 2 conditioners I tried, KVD being one of them. Added expense and work with out any returns. The only thing around my boat that has memory issues is me
  17. Dropping my pliers on the floor of an aluminum boat, do it 4 or 5 times an outing, spooks em bad in the shallow weeds :-/
  18. The only highly successful bait I just never throw. I just would rather use other baits, I have no feel for spinner or buzz baits.
  19. Welcome from North East PA 8-)
  20. F-11 and 13 for LMB in silver and or gold, both have their days!!!!! Been using this lure since the mid sixties, Ol Reliable 8-)
