  1. My EXT Pro was like that new, after I broke it down and wiped all the excess grease it was a little better. After a few trips it was fine, think it was over lubed.
  2. I still sharpen hooks, jigs especially
  3. Mine last a long time or until this happens a new jig second cast
  4. ummm I may be an idiot and depending on who you ask I am. I've heard of floating worms but have never seen one. Who makes them?
  5. I'm not sure how they work from a boat, may need to invest in one. I don't lose many typically if I can just give them some slack I can get them back. Barring that I can typically get them back by getting behind them and they work loose.
  6. We are looking at going fishing with a small lunch type thing, at Lake Murray. The date is still up in the air, looking at a saturday in Oct. I have a boat and so does ninja, when the date gets set I will be posting it. Anyone who wants to attend can, we will work out the kinks and how many boats will be going, etc.
  7. Joe ppl have been weighing fish for years, slipping the scale weight in the gill area will not harm the fish if done correctly. Spring scales are easier to get certified and don't rely on batteries, I would argue more accurate and reliable. I only weigh the big ones additionally weighing them allows you to be more accurate in estimating the weight of future catches. Fish aren't so fragile that weighing them will adversely effect their survival, in fact weighing them on the boat and releasing them then is quicker than photography and much more humane than transporting them in a live well to some arena and weighing them there. I hate tournament weigh ins, u can bet there has been studies done on that practice.
  8. yes it sinks, but does so slowly. Once I got the hang of working a sammy type bait, I've had no problem working one with hybrid or floro. I think the sink rate is highly overated for getting a crankbait deeper. I think the difference comes in because floro and hybrid have a slightly smaller diameter than mono
  9. I would use yo-zuri hybrid, flouro is just to expensive. The hybrid has great sensitivity pure fluro is a little more sensitive but not much. With the hybrid you get closed cell construction which is where u get a major jump in sensitivity. Don't believe that crap about flouro not stretching, just as stretchy as mono. Tackle tour did a great review on floro if u want to still go that route read it, that review may help point you in the right direction. But fishing the way you described with all reaction type baits I wouldn't pay the money for the floro, 12lb test hybrid has a breaking strength of 19lbs, and is really affordable. I buy mine on Ebay for 5 bucks for 600yds
  10. Try putting in near Radford and float down to Narrows, great float lots of fish. Man I miss the river, Claytor lake is good too.
  11. If you are retired or.active duty military, the Navy Goose Lake recreation area is good
  12. Mine are kept in original packaging, I use gallon size zip locks to keep them organized. I use the labeling area on the zip lock and sort them out, lizards, trailers, small worms, finesse, etc
  13. Talked with ninja today, will be setting the date soon. Will post it when figured out
  14. I feel better now, I'm thinking about converting my tackle box to a set of rolling luggage
  15. Doing some organizing today and I must admit that I have a problem. I have a crankbait problem, I have 16 square bills, 14 lipless, 12 round bill shallow runners, 10 medium, and 12 deep divers, this doesn't include poppers, sammy type baits, etc. Do I seriously need 64+ crankbaits??????
  16. Ninja give me a call lets get this scheduled
  17. IMO the major difference between mono and floro is that mono has an open cell construction. In other words it absorbs water. This adsorption is what causes mono to start sinking and it also weakens the line. 12 pound mono is 12 pounds dry after fishing for an hour or so and the breaking strength is compromised by 10-20%. The open cell construction is also why mono isn't as sensitive.
  18. That's the problem I can't remember the name or anything and I lost my paper record of it. seems like it was cast for kids or something along those lines.
  19. Seems like I remember a member here starting a fishing charity for kids. Does anyone have that info? If I remember right several members sent tackle to help him get started. I'm thinking it was in GA. I have some plastics and such I wanted to send. And if he is close enough volunteer.
  20. I used to correspond with a guy (from the versatile hunting dog forum) from CA, he bred airedales. He trained his to hunt everything from boar to bear even birds. He claimed that a couple were broke to retrieve waterfowl.
  21. If from same manufacturer I'd go for it. I have clarus and convergence rods not much difference
  22. I use double props almost exclusively, can fish them slower, more wake, more noise, yadda yadda. Color I use Chart/White, occassionally will throw a black one. Keep your thumb ready as soon as the bait hits the water trip the clutch, raise the tip of the rod and start reeling, you will go to the point that your buzz seems likes it never goes all the way under the water
  23. Glad someone (Robert) can point u on the right direction. Tennant's rights have some federal protection and the state also has laws. If u r in the position to buy u may be able to make a sweet deal with the bank, especially if the owners who just moved had paid more than half the amount owed.
  24. I wasn't directing that at you, sorry about the confusion, your post just made for a good example. Meant no offense, sorry about that
