788c vs 798c SI
I wasn't looking at the 798 for the down imaging. I just mentioned it as an additional interesting feature that helped push me into buying one. I'm glad I did now.

788c vs 798c SI
Well I got my 798 installed and took it out today for the first time and all I can say is WOW! Absolutely amazing. As impressed as I am with the SI the 2D is also fantastic. Keven

788c vs 798c SI
Thanks for the responses. The down imaging isn't necessarily the deciding factor, just another plus. Why do you find the down imaging "fairly useless"? Seems an image that looks more like a picture would be better than trying to interpret a traditional 2D sonar image.

788c vs 798c SI
I had planned on getting the 788ci but I have just about talked myself into going for the 798ci SI especially since it now has the Down Imaging. Is the 798 worth the additional money? I also have read that the 2D performance on the 798 is not as good as the 788. Can anyone confirm this? I know this topic has been beaten to death but I appreciate any input. Also who has the lowest prices? Thanks, Keven

Another Hydrilla Question
So it would probably be beneficial to use some type of rattle on a jig or plastic to help them locate the bait.

Another Hydrilla Question
Once the Hydrilla comes to the top and forms a mat does it thin out under it? Or does it stay dense from top to bottom? Keven

Search Bait Strategy- Am I Missing Something?
I keep reading about using crankbaits or spinnerbaits as a search bait to find the active fish and then slowing down and using plastics or jigs to get the more inactive ones. This seldom ever works for me. I can think of very very few times that I have followed up with a slower presentation such as a jig or some type of plastic and gotten a bite. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks, Keven

Anyone Try The H2O Xpress Hard Swimbaits
The price is reasonable. Just wondering if anyone has given them a try. Keven

best knot to use for flurocarbon leader???
I think the Crazy Alberto is smoother through the guides than the uni.

Spinning rod and line
I use a Medium Berkeley Lightning Rod & 30lb PowerPro braid w/ a fluorocarbon leader. I don't think I could ask for a better setup. You have the strength, sensitivity and casting qualities of the braid and the invisibility of the fluoro.

trolling motor - should it be bent like this??
I just finished putting the same trolling motor on my boat and it looks the same way. I'm glad I found this thread, I thought that I had screwed it up. Keven

Deep running crankbaits
How about a lipless crank such as a Rattlin' Rapala.

Braid w/Fluorocarbon Leader vs Straight Fluorocarbon
Do you always use a fluoro leader or just when in exceptionally clear water? I use all fluoro now but would like to try braid. The lake I fish is fairly clear and so I was wondering about the visibility of the line. Thanks, Keven

Braid w/Fluorocarbon Leader vs Straight Fluorocarbon
So Wayne your saying that, from your experience, the only benefit of fluorocarbon over braid is the fact that it sinks? Thanks for your response. Keven

Braid w/Fluorocarbon Leader vs Straight Fluorocarbon
Has anyone noticed a decrease in the number of strikes when using braid with a fluorocarbon leader as opposed to using all fluorocarbon? I've been thinking of switching over to the braid-fluoro setup for increased sensitivity. Keven

Anyone Tried The H20 Express Hollow Body Swim Baits?
I picked some up but have not had a chance to try them. Reasonably priced compared to the other brands. Keven
