  1. Got 25 trout in my freezer that swear by crickets. LOL.. You run a small (10 size) hook behind their neck, all the way down to their end then work them up the hook. Those things smell like garbage but the trout seem to really love them.
  2. lol, sounds like my first trailer. Would blow out fuses on my truck. Could not find the wire causing the short. Finally gave up and went to the dealer, there was a very small hole in the insulation on one of the wires (I actually had gone right over it twice when inspecting it myself), that let it short out to the trailer frame. Man that ticked me off.
  3. Call them directly if you can. That is total BS. You buy a boat to be able to use it. You buy a fishing boat to use it especially during the BEST darn bass time of the year. Remind them of the importance of word of mouth and that you are keeping a log of your experience with them on these boards. They are doing nothing but making sure they have fewer customers. I would also lean on the boat dealer. He can lean on his Tracker rep as well so get some stuff flowing uphill to tracker that way. It may do nothing but give you a chance to vent but it may help if they got some decent folks somewhere in the company.
  4. if you want to get real fancy build in a pump that will take water in and out. That way you can throw a switch to pump out and back in fresh water from time to time. Our you could just use a bucket. I was working on this with a bilge pump type rig when I sold my jon a while back cause I was sick of swapping out water with a bucket.
  5. x2, lol. Really, being a friend is not about you. it's about him. Fill him in on the legality stuff, sure, but because it is in HIS best interest to have a legal wedding to the woman he loves. Like his bride or not, it is his bride. I can tell you this, even the best friend I have had in my life, if it comes to a choice between him and my wife, there ain't no choice, my wife will always win hands down. If you are going to set the stage for that eventual showdown, you will lose. If you truly value his friendship, support him. A true friend can put his buds needs/wants/etc ahead of his own. You don't have to like the girl, but you had best pay her some respect for your buds sake. Don't force him to make a decision you will regret.
  6. Undo no circumstances would I touch or think about touching it. Like you said, you have no idea where it has been and I can think of few legit reasons a hypodermic needle would be floating out in the lake. If you felt absolutely compelled to fish it out. I would pull it in with a net and dump it into plastic bucket with a lid, seal it up and give it to the authorities if anything. While chances are no pathogen would live long with it floating in a lake, I would not take the chance. You also can't go throwing it in the normal garbage lest a garbage man get stuck with it. I know...I am a bit overboard with it but when I worked at the hospital we had a couple folks who through an unbelievable series of events got stuck with needles and ended up spending 12 months with their lives on hold going through tests. To give you an idea one was a needle not fully in a sharps container that fell out the top somehow, hit the side of a counter and in a 1 in a 1 billion shot went right into a nurses foot. What are the odds of that?
  7. Yeah I do not put a ton of faith in them. Just that it was not working at all on a new boat that got to me. GPS!? What you talking talking about those fancy gizmos. We don't got none of dose things on da boat. I am in the process of saving up for a HD SI system so I am making do with the standard Lowrance system that came with the boat until then.
  8. That is exactly where it is. Thanks Jigman! I never would have thought that little hole was for the speedometer. Some serious debris jammed in there.
  9. Make a good ring tone too. LOL. Awesome. There ain't no way, absolutely no way you are gonna be seeing me crawling through the crud he was crawling through.
  10. Hey everyone, Question, got a 2009 tracker pt 175 txw. Last time out, the speedometer failed to work at all. Now when I lived up north, we used to have issues this time of year with mud dobbers blocking up the end of the little thing that let it work. Problem is, I have no idea where that would be on this boat. i really do not want to take it into the shop during prime Bassin' so I was hoping someone might have an idea where I could look to see if it is something easy like that.
  11. When i was in college about 10 yrs ago I got caught in the middle of a mini-riot. I was actually at the flash point for it. We had a small town college, on 1 street we have about a dozen bars (in a block and a half) all closing at the same time. So LOTS of people, almost all obliterated. Was standing on the sidewalk walking back to campus, a dude just in front of me was walking with 2 friends, they were all pretty hammered. There was an ornery old cop standing on the street physically poking anyone whose foot slipped off the curb into the street with a nightstick. Was a matter of time before something happened. He poked one of the drunks in front of me. His friend got stupid and stepped out into the officers face. His 2 buds went to help him out, it was like someone dropped a match in gas can. People started fighting, throwing stuff, was insane. Not sure which was worse, the beatings i saw some guys take, of just how fast a relatively normal drunken migration went from normal to insanity. Because of my proximity to the start of it all, I got interviewed by every administrator at school and all police agencies involved. To their credit they made a lot of actually rational and effective changes because of it. As you found out, the herd mentality of humans can be a VERY scary thing.
  12. Just stupid. The guys jumps out of the boat, into the area near the engine. The driver puts the boat into reverse and runs him over, but the manufacturer is 60% responsible for that stupidity? I am no engineer but i would think putting a guard around a prop would have a significant impact in drag, as well as the mechanics of the water around the prop as to significantly impact the performance. I flat out would not buy a boat with one. Instead I would try to NOT run over my passengers. Just stupidity.
  13. Had mine in almost at birth. The primary rule, they will have their PFD on before they can step on the dock and it does not come off till they step off the dock when we get back. For my girls I got the best PFDs I could find. Obviously for smaller ones who don't know not to jump off the boat, there is a bit more hands on supervision than with the others.
  14. I was looking at it at our local BPS. Nice looking rig. My only thoughts on it was, with the rubberized interior. The one at BPS had of course been sitting outside exposed to the elements and there were a couple spots where I could see the rubbery stuff start warping a bit like it was coming detached from the hull. Not sure if this was the one bad one or if that would be something you would expect from the whole line. It does look real nice though. If they had them out there when I bought my PT175 txw last year, I would have had a tough time choosing between the 2.
  15. I would say Bass fishing plus any other non-trolling type of fishing. I have used mine for Catfish, crappie, Yellow perch, etc. The high decks, more stable profile help fishing while standing up or sitting. You just need to focus on all your needs, fishing and others (i.e. towing vehicle, etc) and then find the one that meets your needs the best.
  16. get some carpet on it. I had a modded 14' topper. The first time I went out, it was just me, my gramps, the 8hp OB motor and some fishing gear in July. both of us burned the crap out of out legs on the aluminum benches. Besides that though, only time i ran into trouble with the weight was in heavy wakes in the lake during the summer. Pleasure boaters just seemed dead set on trying to pass as close as possible to me in the wide channel on the lake.
  17. Man....you Texans got it made. around here, they'd laugh and throw rocks at it while it floated away. LOL. Actually they probably would not be that bad...but definitely set everything up before getting to the ramp. I would stop up in the lot, make sure all the lines were ready, plug in, motor ready, straps off, etc then put it in tie it off and tear off to park the truck. Course the launch I frequent has 6 launches and rarely gets backed up a whole lot.
  18. 2 Yuppie kids in their daddies Lexus SUV trying to launch a pair of jetskis. First one, while admitting he just worked on the motor and had not tested it kicks off the dock. Then tries to start the jetski...wont start, he is adrift down the lake. His buddy loses his flip flop which was made out of gold apparently. He starts borderline crying (about 18-20 yrs old), and cussing about how expensive and awesome they are. As his buddy is cussing and swearing drifting away, occasionally punching and kicking the jet-ski. Shortly thereafter they realize that every mid sized wave is going into the back of the Lexus (they had backed up until the hitch was in the water). Literally took them about an hour and a half to launch to jet skis. I thought one of the boaters was going to end them for that. I am sure daddy was ticked about the debris in the back of the lexus when they got home.
  19. Did this all the time until I got my new boat (last August). The best part about the jon, if you don't get it back on the trailer right, no big deal, just push it there when you get it out of the water. As for launching, follow the advice on the rope. All you need is a light outbound breeze to send your jon sailing without ya. No biggie, did about 60 launches I'd guess with my old one while I had some entertaining times, I did not have any big issues.
  20. Could always drop your fishing partner off the side. I did this today and apparently Lake Wylie is VERY cold (leave out actual adjectives used to maintain the G rating), while not a very precise method it does work.
  21. So I was at BPS the other day and saw a Grizzly setup with a center console all rubberized interior. Thing looked awesome especially for the price. Have they been selling this for a long time and I just missed it? If you check out the tracker boat site to look at these, the Grizzly CC models are the center consoles. They look like nice little boats for the money.
  22. I must be a strange person. If I had unlimited money, I would keep my boat (2009 tracker pt 175 txw), I would however, take out the TM, and graph (I keep drooling over the HDS-10) and MAJORLY upgrade them, I would also upgrade the trailer a bit more, get 2 spares, rig it for longer trips, etc. Maybe install some LED's under the rail and in the rod lockers and storage areas. For me right now, that would make my perfect rig
  23. Darn....I kept waiting for a punchline. "That sucks" does not even begin to explain it. Well I will say this but O' philosophy my pastor has thrown on us from time to time, Every climb to up a mountain starts in a valley. So hopefully, the mountaintop you reach from this is equally as high as the valley is deep. Get out and do some fishing...clean the mind a bit.
  24. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35837976/ns/local_news-seattle_wa/ LOL. So he first asked to come into the foodbank to eat the people in there. When that does not work, he shows them a pipebomb to let him in but he can't work it. So he asks for the shelter employees to come out and help him operate it. It is like a three stooges episode....
  25. wow....I go away for a couple days and the site descends into anarchy. LOL. I can't be sure but this might be the strangest question yet. I would also like to know...you want to be free from encumbrances, what exactly do you do while in repose that a shirt blocks you from doing? :-/
