  1. You'd better believe I spent about 30 minutes on that spot throwing Live Target sunfish crankbaits, some of my shad flukes, and about anything I could think of off the shelf to see if he had some friends down there. Got nothing. I had to just keep shaking my head at that though.
  2. I would call the state police myself. The problem with locals is they frequently know jack about gun laws at the state level. I ran into a SC cop (not state but a small town) who insisted they had no reciprocity agreement with NC (Been in place for years) and was bound and determined to arrest me. It was my polite insistence that he really needed to get in touch with his supervisor before he got his department in legal trouble that saved me from getting arrested.
  3. It brings up many issues that need to be thought and talked about. IMO I do not believe I have the right to trash anyone in public, if what is being said is not true. I also believe that if I make false accusations about an individual or company I should be accountable. Definitely. People slander the crud out of folks online. Whats worse, unlike those who go do it by word of mouth, their slander gets a global audience instantly. If it is accurate information, then hey that is a great thing. However, when someone expresses their opinion as a fact and is tearing up someones ability to make a living, well, then the had better be prepared for some fallout. i had a similar thing happen with a local real estate company. I posted an opinion, was very clear in my posting what parts of my post were factual and what were opinion. Their attorney got nowhere quick and I nearly got to sue them for their actions. You need to be very careful on what you post online and how you word it if you are going to call someone out.
  4. Sometimes experience and skill can breed complacency and pride. If he really has that much experience and skill, then that would explain it to me. He was wearing his vest AND kill switch which many folks do not. I always have my vest but I can attest to failing to hook up the kill switch each and every time like I should. I made it easy for myself it being hooked to a lanyard which EASILY hooks to my vest.
  5. So I was fishing with my bud the other day. Had a real slow day so we decided to work this shelf off the main lake channel. We saw a HUGE bass come across a submerged log and then followed him down the shore hunting/hoping for a hit. They everything but the tacklebox at him. All we kept getting was small hits (sunfish/etc). He disappeared from view completely. Getting annoyed, I broke out a small jib with a grub tied an extra treble hook on and decided to catch a couple of these little guys who were hitting our large tackle all the way across the shelf. After a couple casts I hook on a large sunfish, pull him about 6 inches off the shelf. All of a sudden the big boy we have been hunting comes out of nowhere (actually just under the shelf), grabs the sunfish on my line and takes off, bends my rod half over and it was on. I fought him back and forth all the way back to the boat before he finally let the sunfish go. Quite a wild ride. It was fun but the amazing thing, he had been there the whole time. He has seen every thing we threw, every presentation we had and never bit. Apparently he was waiting for something fresher.

That happens here on a true reading if they do a mess of estimates. I would also verify the reading on the meter matches what they say it is right now. That is quite a jump. Only time i know of that happeneing for real to someone here was them leaving a black hose out in the yard with the water turned on. The hose burst from the heat and they leaked water into the wood behind their house for a week before they found it.
  7. Not exactly a ref but more of a discussion on it: http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?58653-World-s-most-patient-cop
  8. Not sure how useful this would be. My current client forces you to do the macarena if your phone goes off during a meeting.
  9. Plus my grandfather is a royal PITA, and he is still pretty quick at his age. Having him behind bars would make it easier to taunt and harass him without him being able to catch me. LOL. Yeah it is sad, but I would still prefer to leave my gramps to my families care. We care about him and after he raised, cared for, and supported us when we could not do it for ourselves, we owe him the same.
  10. yeah he definitely egged him a bit. I will tell you what. There were 2 or 3 actions he took that a lot of cops would have had him out of the car and handcuffed. Twice he reaches out the window at the officer to grab the clipboard, both times you can see his actions impact the officer. I am betting had the cop pressed those issues this guy would have seriously resisted him resulting in an arrest for sure but more than likely a throw down. His language alone would have gotten him a disorderly conduct charge in a lot of places. When he takes the ticket,r rips it up and throws it at the cop, that could have gotten him charged. It is amazing. I bet this guy 99% of the time (OK maybe just 80%) is a totally normal dude. Just completely LOST it during this pullover. Seriously, that guy should have been cuffed, stuffed, and thrown in jail. The cop showed incredible restraint. There's absolutely NO excuse for that kind of behavior! Nobody made him act that way, he decided to act like that! To try to insinuate the cop egged him on is outrageous. Don't get me wrong Glenn, I do not condone it. The cop did egg him on, but even if he did, the nimrod was acting like a 5 yr old who had his favorite toy taken away from him. My sister and brother in law are both cops, and either of them would have had this guy in the back of their car before you reached the halfway point in this video and they would be 100% correct to do so.
  11. Having done a number of IT projects involving medicaid/Medicare and private insurance company claims systems, I can tell you the approval/denial rules for these systems are VERY VERY complex and we constantly refined them. They are made on a number of reasons. One of course is price. If one procedure costs a pile of cash and their is a cheaper alternative, then they will deny it. Stomach stapling they would say...go on a diet. Costs us nothing then. The overall goals of these rules are to expend the least amount of money possible while trying to keeping policyholders at least moderately happy. The sick, sad truth is they are a business like any other and cannot spend more than they bring in without going out of business. The difference is, their decisions can kill people or significantly reduce their lifespans. It is a really twisted business but it is one that we need.
  12. Not sure I would want to see a 560 lb Lg Mouth. With a fish like that, my Tracker would suddenly be transformed from a bass annihilator, into a top water bait. lol. In the words of Roy Schneider - "We gonna need a bigger boat."
  13. So the music may not be to your liking, but hey at least the video is about a fishing trip.

  15. Throw some pics of your rig up if ya can. Would be helpful for folks to get a look at it. Then we can overwhelm you with ideas. We are always happy to help other people spend their money.
  16. Agree with this. I got 4 little ones. I will take them out 1 or 2 at a time. If your kids won't listen (as well as you'd expect from the age group) or are going to hang off the sides, etc then they need to not be out there. My youngest does not go out with me because of this. My others are fine. Really the only concern (and it would be with any boat) is that you need to be a little more careful on how you take wakes, where they sit, etc. My dad had a nice 18ft open bow boat growing up. I remember we did not let anyone less than 50 lbs up there cause if you took a good wake WOT, you could bounce them out of the boat. The Bass boats are also AWESOME for the younger ones to fish. I would sit 2 of them up front with me, made it easy to do their hooks, etc and the high position let them easily cast out and catch panfish and catfish. Was good fun.
  17. NC and SC. My home Lake (Wylie) is right on the border and it is VERY easy to cross the border without knowing it. Better safe than sorry.
  18. LOL. I think I got the same disease. I have spent at least $100 more in plastics (that is a LOT of plastics) since i declared my plastics collection complete. Though I blame the guys who make them to darn pretty and tempting. By the way, do you notice your symptoms seem to get worse are you approach a new season? I find the weeks just before fall are my worst. about 75% of my crankbaits were bought during that time period. The only solace i take is that nearly all of them have caught at least 1 fish.
  19. You and me both. I get a lot of help from my employer but family coverage breaks the bank. I just cannot imagine what it would be like without any coverage.
  20. I hear ya. My favorite was the large farmer in overalls covered with some type of manure with no shirt (when I say large I mean in like he swallows a rack of basketballs) pushing the cart with his gut, while his anorexic looking wife (with may 3 teeth and maybe some chew) shops along with him. Now they are not dangerous folk mind ya, but...darn man. I wish I owned a cell with a camera when I saw that. They seem to avoid me ever since I did upgrade my phone.
  21. Hey Jig...I am with ya on the wind, but as far as stability goes, maybe I have not been truly spoiled yet (started with a 1443 jon) but my Tracker is pretty stable for me.
  22. x2, if you can get into the store without getting shot and/or robbed, you will definitely be entertained. Some nights in Gastonia it looks like the zombie apocalypse in that store.
  23. Ditto. I also had some close calls on Wylie with some less than courteous pleasure boaters and skiers.
  24. x2 I went alum because I wanted the lighter weight for towing. The downside, get a good wind, the light weight works against you. But I will also say I use WAY less gas than a lot of other guys out there with glass boats.
