  1. yep. Next year I am going to hire an NFL lineman to run out ahead of me and hammer the folks along the sidewalk trying to get you to vote for them as you walk in to vote. Dear lord, I would get harassed less running through a dog kennel with steaks hanging off my jeans.
  2. Do you have a short memory? They played in the 2004 Super Bowl. Maybe that's the "good old-fashioned Panthers football" that the announcer had in mind. They did but the team is not the same it was and really the play calling typically sucks. I mean we have a game where we try to pick the play the Panthers will run before they line up. Except for the last 2 games (1 of which they won), we are about 80-85% percent accurate. Now the guy who are paid to do that I am sure can do into the 90's. Add to that our joke of a line (which have more to do with our QB problems than anything else IMO), and you cannot play "old fashioned panthers football". The simply do not have the toolbox for it. It has been plainly obvious for the last 2 seasons to everyone but Coach Fox and that announcer. They need to change it up and come up with a style that works with what they have. The announcers though seems oblivious to that. I mean in one game they actually said they needed to go back to what they did in the first quarter, which was no points, what felt like 5,000 punts and a turnover or 2. grrrrr. And what is worse, I grew up in Buffalo. So my 2 teams are the Panthers and the Bills. Needless to say, fishing on sunday afternoons...sound like a MUCH better use of my time this year. lol
  3. So Sunday, I am watching the Panthers get beat, again. One thing about that game they FINALLY started doing different things. They were not having a mess of success with it but it was good to see them not doing same ol' same ol'. The announcer, then gets up and start on how the Panthers are doing something different and it is not working and his advice "They need to get back to good old fashioned Panthers football!". I realize these guys cannot know everything but the Panthers are 1-6, seems to me good old fashioned Panthers football is the LAST thing they need to be doing. Seems to me good old fashioned Panthers football is really not that great. So doing anything different, really is a good idea. Maybe I am cranky cause I cannot remember the last winning season we had, but for someone who is paid to announce games and analyze them, it seemed like a ridiculously nimrodic (yeah new word) thing to say.
  4. Sorry but you have to spell suck P-A-N-T-H-E-R-S They are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked a suck.
  5. I am with the theory of treat others with courtesy. The lake I fish has thousands of docks. There are thousands of fish. if I cannot get the one(s) under a single dock because the owner is being a nimrod, well so be it. I fish to relax and getting in an argument with a dock owner just is not all that relaxing for me. I know it is tough to ditch the pride (REALLY tough in my case) but it just ain't worth it. You ain't gonna change their minds, they ain't gonna change yours. No sense in arguing over it.
  6. Sometimes folks just make boneheaded moves without thinking about it. I have been guilty of this from time to time. Though these do not sound like it was accidental especially with their response to you. Comes down to 1 thing. For folks today life is about 1 thing....them. They are the focus of the world and the rest of us are irrelevant. I see a lot of this, especially with ski boats on Lake Wylie but also from anglers. Unless it is something REALLY bad, I pretty much let it go. I ain't ruining my entire day by arguing with an idiot. It would only serve to lower my IQ and I need all the IQ points I got.
  7. So I always carry my 40 in my tacklebox and this led to a discussion with my bud about how his father refuses to fish with anyone who carries a gun in the boat. Here is why: He and his bud are out fishing in a 14 ft wide bottom jon boat on a lake in FL. They are out just a short time but far from the dock working a cove. Out of nowhere a snake falls into the boat. Without missing a beat is buddy pulls his .380 revolver out of the holster, and before he can say anything, he empties the thing on the snake, turning his jon boat into an expensive colander and sending them both racing back to the dock while bailing water trying to stay afloat until they can get out of the water. I just about died hearing this so I thought I would share. I have spoken to his dad about it and he mentioned his weariness about me carrying my 40 (cause it has larger round and more of them). I told him it ain't for snakes, it is for the more dangerous animal you run into at the docks on rare occasion.
  8. LOL. I have a bud who will keep and eat nearly anything he can legally keep. He thinks I am nuts to throw some of the ones I throw back. I may keep one or 2 some trips (usually in the 3 lb range and they are good for filleting and eating) but the lunkers almost always go back. I had one 8 lber I deep hooked horribly. Thing was not surviving and I am not throwing a fish back to die. Either way, no real need to explain it to them. They do what they do, you do what you do, you are both within the law, your are both good to go.
  9. I would not see anything wrong with doing it. If you feel you would feel better asking first, go ahead.

Got 'em around here. They were implicated in a nasty shootout at a park. They make the bloods and crips look like the boy choir.
  11. I got a 2009 pt175 txw. I will either go head in into the wind. Or go with the wind. If you position the boat facing the wind and use the TM to slow you down and keep you pointed in, you can get less use out of the TM. Course as soon as you catch something you half a lake away by the time you get reset.
  12. Oil in Alaska will take a lot longer to evaporate than oil in the Gulf. I think there will be some impact, but not as severe as what happened with the Exxon spill. I am neither a biologist nor a chemist (actually I am a computer geek), so I can offer now knowledgeable opinion except, I REALLY hope they are right. From a BR standpoint those are some great fisheries that it would suck to lose. From a human standpoint, there are a lot of folks depending on this not being a long term thing. That being said, I trust the gov and BP scientists about as far as I could throw them.
  13. My lake here just dropped about 10 degrees in the past week. Was out the other day, was pulling huge bass off the shoreline usually wherever there was a bit of a drop for them to hide and ambush. Was throwing Zoom Horny Toad frogs and letting them sink just out of sight. about 15-25 inches off the shore. Every fall in my lake I tend to find them feeding in the mornings on the shore, midday to evening a little deeper (7-10 ft), then evenings they come shallow again.
  14. What he said. LOL. I faced the same dilemma with mine. I finally gave up when I was fishing a REAL productive shoreline and kept seeing schools of "fish" on the finder strangely arranged exactly in the shape of a submerged tree. I really use it now to find the structure on the bottom. If it does happen to "see" a mess of fish around it bonus, but I do not place too much faith in the fish finding ability of these things.
  15. ditto. Anyone who would agree to it, I would be very wary of. Your best bet, put away what you can every month from now till the spring. In the spring you will see some guys upgrading and you can pay cash for it at that point.
  16. Until they can come up with an effective and cheap alternative, heck ya it needs to stay. One thing they ignore, not all of this lead use is by those of us with extra cash who fish/hunt for a hobby. I have met plenty of folks who hunt and fish to feed their family. They are usually not hanging onto a lot of extra income. When you greatly increase the price of ammo and fishing gear, you have a serious impact on those folks. Lead in high concentrations can be bad. I am not going to believe that my split shots and deer slugs are the cause of all the excess lead in the environment.
  17. yep I believe they are out there. Nope I do not believe they are galactic proctologists doing anal probes on everyone. I would think they would have a lot better to do than come anywhere near us. At best, they would set up some sort of galactic bleacher on the outside of our solar system and watch the show.
  18. Great story. I hope the airline had 400 clean pairs of underwear when they landed. Wow.

I am on support for clients about every day of the week. Until last year I got ticked about it. I know WAY too many folks without jobs now to complain. It sucks...but it still beats a kick in the ****
  20. It is what it is. One of the trade-offs with the tin boats is the weight. I specifically wanted a lighter boat so with the pros associated with it (easier to tow, spend a LOT less on gas, etc) I get the negatives which is, wind blows you all over the place. I have just come up with more strategy around dealing with it. Go head into the wind, I have also learned to use the wind to help me out. You can point into the wind and let it push you back slowly, use your TM every now and then to slow the drift to a sane pace.
  21. In his defense he died saving his girlfriend. She could not run that fast and he stayed with her pushing her out of the way as the train approached. Ironic but heroic at the same time.
  22. i just dont see how this can be true............... my father, a man who has been in law enforcement for 37 years, has crossed many a state line for NRA shoots, would spend many years in jail about now............. i know for a fact that: if youre a KS owner you can go to MO, IA, and NE and shoot everything short of a nuke as long as you follow local and state laws...... Try going from your home state to NY, MD, or CA with your a handgun. With my NC concealed carry permit I can go to 33+ states and they honor it but outside that 33, I can get in serious trouble taking it outside. LEOs are given a wider range of permission to carry. My sister for example is a cop in NY she can take her gun almost anywhere including here. I cannot however carry in NY legally. I am betting coming from CA to almost anywhere else in the country you will find looser restrictions. Best to know though
  23. While I don't doubt the highlighted portion, I can say without reservation that in excess of 90% of law enforcement is absolutely clueless WRT to guns and gun laws. x2 and even more clueless when it comes to how folks from out of state fall into their states gun laws. My sister is in NY I am in NC she is a cop, I had to explain to her why my concealed carry permit in NC would not allow me to carry in NY. She has been in the force 20 years
  24. Good luck man. Yeah the laws can be a PITA from state to state. When I moved from NY to NC, I made it a point to call each state (state police) to get their specific laws for transporting my hunting shotguns and rifles. Needless to say it was so confusing I just gave up put them in cases and put them in the moving van and just pretended I did not call anyone. One state they need to be locked, one state they need to be completely hidden, one state they need to be out of the case out in the open, etc. Enough to make your head spin

Call the police. You do not want to find them. If you are anywhere near as protective a father as me, (and as lucky) they will turn up to be someone pretty darned close to you and you will feel compelled to go pay them a visit. Nothing good will come from talking to them. Let the police talk for you. They can track them down and deliver the message for you.
