BAD PRO FOOTBALL
Not if we beat you to it. The Panthers are, IMO, the top contender for worst steaming pile of crud in the NFL.

who's still flying?
Really? So everyone who is uncomfortable with getting these new "enhanced" pat downs is simply jumping on the "too much government" bandwagon? No, they aren't and to say so is simply being dismissive without looking into the issue. It's blatantly false. Hillary Clinton has stated that she would do what she could to NOT go through a pat down. That's pretty telling to me. (I'm making no political statement, just using her as an example as she has been quoted on the record) tyrius, I see where yo are going with this. Yes planes are private property (they are owned by the airlines), and as such they can make the rules as to security to get on them. They however, do not make the rules, the government does. TSA is a government agency. They are completely reactive (which is better than never doing anything) but also ineffective. A body cavity bomb will be coming. Their scanners will not detect them. Their pat downs will not find them. I have no problem with security itself, but I think we need to balance the tactics, the impact to the 99.999999% of travelers who have no ill intent. and their overall effectiveness. How about alcohol on the plane? There are more incidents of planes being forced back because of some unruly drunk than anything else. Yet we have not banned it. The TSA has a real dilemma. In order to be successful they have to be perfect. The terrorists only have to be lucky once. TSA is being told to stop every single instance of some psycho coming onto a plane. One guy gets on a plane with explosives and heads will roll at TSA. So they really have an impossible job. What we need to understand is there is and always will be a remote chance that someone will blow up the plane you are on. There is nothing the government can do about it. There is little we can do about it. We will however go bankrupt as a nation and so will our airlines if we continue this security insanity. Either way, a line of reason needs to be drawn with these pat downs. Stripping down 5 year olds, I think that is nonsense. Yea a kid could carry a bomb but how far to we take that? Someone could force an explosive device down an infants throat (and there are sick folks who would do that). Do we cavity search infants too? Cause if we don't know the bad guys will see that hole and exploit it.

who's still flying?
Please don't be apathetic about this issue. You may not care that your rights are being violated, but many other people do. Particularly parents of young children who are being forced to go through these scanners and/or "enhanced" pat downs. What are we supposed to say to our children who ask why this stranger is allowed to touch them in places where no one but their doctor should? The kids are really what bother me. I mean, I am an adult, there are worse things I go through at the Doctors office than in security. However, my kids are a different story, being the father of 4 girls, I am severely sensitive to ANYONE even looking at them weird much less scanning images of them without clothes on or rubbing them down. Don't get me wrong, I do not think anyone in the TSA is getting some sick thrill out of it, I just do not feel anywhere near comfortable having anyone doing those things to my children. But, this is the US and I have a choice, so needless to say this is one family who will never be vacationing anywhere out of driving distance of NC.

BAD PRO FOOTBALL
The Bengals are definitly the worst team in Ohio. And you think that they are still the worst team in the NFL? What about the Panthers? Yeah, I just thought about them right after I wrote it. The Panthers take the cake, but the way the Bengals are playing, they aren't too far behind. you aint kidding. You see the end of the game this week? I wanted to go on a killing spree. 2 interceptions in the 4th back to back. Then we get a quarterback who has never started a game in 8 years to come in over 2 rookies we have already paid for. I swear they are pumping drugs through the HVAC systems at the stadium in Charlotte.

who's still flying?
yeah and what happened when they did tighten the airline security? These folks just went to soft targets like buses or lobbing rockets into the cities. We can try and try but we will never make the country terror proof. I can think of half a dozen targets near me that would kill hundreds of not thousands and would be no trouble at all. Not going to name them cause I am not into giving bad people ideas but lets just say we will go bankrupt as a nation trying to secure everything. The only options, accept stuff will happen and as US citizens, keep your eyes open for things out of place.

who's still flying?
lol. Only for work when necessary. I would never let my kids fly. Something about having to choose between having someone stare of my kids naked on a screen (trusting they are not recording which has already been shown to be untrue), or allowing someone to rub them down more intimately than their doctor does for a physical exam, just does not sit well with me. However, we demand 100% security all the time, and really what else can they do? They will never get it 100% secure, it is impossible. With all the people and all the medical conditions out there that complicate it, there are going to continue to be nasty tales as well. On the other side, how tough is it for a terrorist to load a colostomy bag or Insulin pump with some liquid explosive? Then we'd all be on here yelling at security for not figuring that out. The sad part is, we just need to accept the world we live in today carries the risk of some maniac blowing up your plane. If we are going to continue to demand the level of security we are calling for, scanners and pat downs are going to become the least of our worries. I mean what happens when they decide to insert these explosives into their body cavity? What does the pat down to prevent THAT look like?

Rounds in the home
You must live in a rough neighborhood. It is not so much that but when you see these shootings and such, where do they happen? Many of them happen in "safe" places where "this kind of stuff does not happen". I mean my neighborhood we have all middle class (avg house price $175,000). Very quiet, safe, very low crime. 5 years ago we had a guy show up at the entrance a week after being out of jail. He decided he did not want to live anymore and he did not have the stones to kill himself, he wanted other others to do it. He pulled out a 12 gauge and started shooting into homes. He was eventually killed by police. yeah that type of stuff is rare, very rare, but that is little solace if your child/wife/etc is shot dead during that little event. It hurts nothing to have the firearms available (if you do it safely for your given situation), but it can hurt plenty if you do not have it and need it. One the original point, I added a couple hundred more rounds to that and a new caliber yesterday. Wifey has a new carry weapon now.

Handguns
If it's a new gun, no. Some ranges rent guns, some don't. All around here that rent require that you show you are familiar with and know how to handle one before they will rent it though. When I take a new guy out, I will take him to the one range here that rents them. it costs more but saves you TONS. Every model will fire/feel different. You really need to match the gun to the shooter to get an optimal fit. While yeah you want one that looks good dont get too hung up on aesthetics they are not everything.

Rounds in the home
So now for those who do not care to share this info, I totally understand. Having a debate with an old anti-gun friend who thinks I am insane because I have over 1,000 round (varying calibers) in the home. To me, that is just a good start considering I have S&W 40, 22lr,.223, .308, 12 and 20 gauge to feed. Anyone here care to share your totals? I wanted to post this on a board not dedicated to guns to show a little impartiality.

Totally with ya BWell. Exactly what I carry. The only difference is mine has the ambidextrous thumb safety. Your right, ammo is NOT cheap. I love my M&P! BTW when it comes to CCW you need to look long and hard at 2 things that really make the difference, 1 a good belt (assuming IWB), and a good holster. I looked for a bit before I settled on a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB. Carrying a FS M&P was not exactly comfortable until I got that holster. Now it is a piece of cake.

TRACKER HULL FAILURE
That sucks man. I can imagine few things as frustrating at that experience. I never get companies doing stuff like that. I mean no matter who they are (even Lexus, BMW, etc), sooner or later they are going to make a messed up product. Seems to me the way to really grow customer loyalty is in those failures. I mean if tracker was to man up and deal it it right, they would win customers left and right. Nickle and diming someone ain't gonna do it. What you get is that first customer who will never buy another one of your products and all his buds and family too. Now i have beat the snot out of my PT 175 txw and so far knock on wood, it has performed flawlessly. Course it is a different hull design than the Targa

Disappointed with my fishing season
Sounds like you had an alright year. Having you home lake like that sucks but sounds like you got out, got some fishing done and met some good folks. I tell you I love getting out like that. In the last 2 years I have gotten the chance to meet up with other guys from fishing board maybe 3 times. In those 3 trips I learned more about alternate ways to do things than in any other time I was out. All lakes have good/bad years. We had one a few years back that they closed all the ramps and nobody could launch because of the drought. Now when we had the gas shortage I had my jon. it ran off 3 Gal of gas for a week. I was the ONLY boat out there. That was Awesome! Our summer was hot as hades so I had a hard time this year in the summer but spring and fall were the best I have had in years. lake has gone into a winter pattern and that is my least favorite season. Buck up though, there is always next year.

why aliens don't exist
bigfruits, they have conceptually "proven" that you can do Star Trek style warp travel (faster than light travel). If you warp space around a vessel (warp field), you can in effect travel faster than light. The ship itself never moves faster than light. of course the problem right now is 1. We have no idea how to warp space in that manner. 2. Even if we could figure out how to do it, it is probably going to take WAY more energy than we can generate right now. Give us 500 or 1,000 years though we could potentially come up with solutions and travel between stars. If we can think of the theory, an older species can too, and if they do and have enough time, they may be able to travel using it. Also, if they can come up with a manner to create artificial gravity , get a renewable, and portable energy source and get REAL good at recycling their environment (air, water, food) then they would not need warp travel. They could just load up a large ship and spend hundreds or thousands of years to travel between stars. Given our medical tech right now, a species capable of creating this type of ship could be able to manipulate their genes and regenerate bodies to the point that they do not age anymore. So, IMO, there are plenty of ways that a civilization can do this. The reasons to visit us at this point in our evolution, I am not so comfortable with. Anthropology study is one. The other, resource harvesting (not so nice). Maybe enslavement/empire building/play god, etc. Given our own improvements in weapons and lack of improvement in civility, I would not expect an advanced race to necessarily evolve to be non-violent and friendly.

why aliens don't exist
Here is something to consider as well. Even at our tech stage we are just getting into materials and tech that allow us to appear invisible-ish and stealth tech that cuts the radar cross section of a large aircraft to the size of a tennis ball. IF there were aliens going planet to planet, then they have solved bending space, warp theory (yes theoretically it is real), or some other means of traveling faster than the speed of light, anti-gravity, atmosphere recycling, etc. At the least, I would think they could easily hide their craft from the visible light spectrum as well as any detection devices we could come up with. So yeah there very well could be other life out there. Intelligent even. And WHY would they want to talk to us? Study from an anthropology type interest but what would we offer as far as allies/friends? Space, so far as we know, is infinite, so chances are, that there are tons of earth like planets out there. Even 1 in 100,000,000 chance of earth in an infinite universe, happens plenty of times.

Women.....
naaa. I have been married for 10 years. The key is living vicariously through other guys who would do what everyone is suggesting he should do. After 10 years and 4 daughters, I LOVE to get out in my yard by myself with a machine loud enough to drown out all the other noise. I also find the chance to run down the occasional doll/yard toy left in the yard very gratifying.

How is Bass fishing out of a multi spec boat?
my buds got one of those trihulls. VERY versatile little boat. And like you said, it was go as shallow as any bass boat.

Women.....
and exactly what kind of friends are these? Do they crawl to the front door? Roll around on the front yard before entering? I can tell you, of the 7,000 times I have mowed the yard with a mulcher, I have not seen a single visitor drag piles of trimmings into the house. Yeah, maybe the dog brings one or 2 in when she rolls in the yard or the kids doing the same, by for someone to drag in piles of clippings, your lawn is either 3 ft tall, or these people are doing something real wierd. What you should have done is forget about mowing it, go out to some yard sales, buy an old fridge, and some stained thrown out furniture and put it out front in the yard. She'd LOVE that.

Just canceled an all expenses paid trip to Hawaii
I hate flying. Not the actual flying part though. Being lined up like cattle to slaughter, forced to strip down to pass through security, being interrogated by a TSA employee with the IQ of a toadstool about why I need 2 laptops, then having to hop to my gate with shoes in hand, and everything I am carrying draped over a shoulder trying to get to a plane that is supposed to take off in 10 minutes. Then sitting on the tarmac for 3 hours until they cancel the flight send you back and have you sit in the terminal for 2 hours. All the while being treated like dirt by airline employees. They may dislike their jobs but as they cannot quit (or they would have) they actually need passengers to stay in business, apparently they missed that memo. Anyway, I would rather take the chance of flying the plane myself.

How is Bass fishing out of a multi spec boat?
Yeah I have been adapting my Tracker PT 185 to multispecies fish. While getting into Shallow coves for Bass fishing is something you may not be able to do depending on the draft of the new boat, you will have a LOT easier time chilling and catfishing in the new one.

Scam Alert & Mini-Rant
Don't take what I said the wrong way Sam, in 33 years I've met many great people that work for IRS that did everything they could to help taxpayers with their issues. But several of their directors have made it a policy that instilling a certain amount of fear into the general public made them good taxpayers. I can think of better ways to go about it, but what do I know. Your wife needs to come to Charlotte then, PLEASE. Last time I went into that office after the IRS wrongfully demanded I owed them a couple grand, the lady at the counter told me she did not know why their system told me I owed them money and that she could not contact anyone, or get me any answers, and even though it looked incorrect I should pay it anyway. I had to through my senator and an attorney. As far as I am concerned I would like to see the entire agency go under and every single employee run through an experience like that before being sent to their unemployment line. I would LOVE to see someone from that agency who acts like a human being. As far as the scam, yeah there are a TON of those. I get about 15 notices from banks that my account is going to be confiscated if I do not respond to their email, IRS emails, FBI emails, and of course the famous, I am a poor trapped honest soul looking to commit major fraud with a complete stranger emails.
