I Lost My Best Friend Today.
He was a real gentleman. Never, and I mean never a moment's trouble from about four months of age. He seemed to instinctively understand the rules of the house. He never chewed a thing that was not one of his toys, or something handed to him as a toy. I'll never forget that trip he and I took together. Had a comforter spread across the front passenger seat and the console. He could move around, while the seat belt restraint would not allow him to reach the dash in a panic braking situation. He also had his space with the rear seat folded up. I had a platform with bedding on it. When he wanted to sleep back there, I'd pull over, unclip him and he'd hop into his bed behind the front seats. After he'd slept long enough, he'd put his head on the console between the seats. This was his way of communicating that he wanted back up front. He easily could have hopped onto the seat from there, but he'd always wait until the truck was stopped and he was invited up. Then he'd clamber onto the passenger seat and wait for me to secure him. Then he'd either sit and look out the windows, or lie with his head near me on the console. He also understood right off, the drill for staying at motels. Once registered, we'd walk around the designated areas, and after he did his business, we'd go to our room. Never the slightest reluctance about being in an unfamiliar place. As long as he was with me, it was like he was home. He'd hop on the bed, just like at home. In all our travels, neither he, nor Ava had an accident in our room. They never barked either. I don't know why he loved to "ride" so much. Once the truck started rolling, he'd be asleep within five miles. You'd never know he (they) were there. I'd check to make sure he was there. Slow down for a toll booth or an exit and he'd instantly be up to see what was going on. He never barked at another dog on our journeys. In fact, most of the time he paid no attention to them. He did his business, be it eating or relieving himself and we'd be on our way. I'll miss all those things, but man, I have a ton of precious memories about him.

I Lost My Best Friend Today.
Indy, December 23, 2001 - July 4, 2011 Indy, who traveled many places with us, passed away quickly, though not totally unexpectedly, this afternoon. Heck of a way to celebrate the Fourth of July. I'll celebrate his life with a few pictures of him. About four months old, March 2002 At ten months, seat belted and ready for our first trip to Georgia together. Thirteen months, placed second in his only show appearance. At fifteen months, being put in his place by his ten week old sister/cousin, who joined our family in March of 2003

Burley??????????????????
I was getting that message a few days ago. But, I was also having problems using IE. It (IE) could find the page, well sort of. The page that opened said the forum was offline, while another message on the same page said the changes were complete and the forum was up and running, to try refreshing the page and if that didn't work, to try again later. The IE issue was resolved before the AOL was, on my computer anyway. Others were having no problems. I don't understand enough about servers, hubs, and whatever else when it comes to these gizmos. The only thing I barely grasped was that it took a while for the changes in this forum, or its address to circulate through all the servers, or whatever. Sometimes it would work other times it wouldn't. The last time I said it was working fine, three or four days ago, the problem resurfaced. A day later it was OK. It has been stable since.

Burley??????????????????
I just tried, and got on via AOL. I rarely use AOL. They are nasty about their popups, trying to make themselves your home page, etc. I use it basically for email, and a very few other things. It's constantly "experiencing a problem" and restarting itself. IE isn't without it's problems, but it isn't constantly imposing itself on you.

What If
Ahhhh, for the good ol' days of outhouses and no indoor plumbing. No computers, no video games, might as well say no electronics, at least as we know them. History paints such a romantic image of those eras, but I believe very few youngsters, remember I'm almost 70, would really want to live in those days. It's like folks who go to Disneyworld and think it would be great to work there. It's a totally different perspective from the outside looking in. When you get there, it is most likely to disappoint. It's the "Happiest Place on Earth", or was that Disneyland, for the guests. Not so happy for the "cast members".

What Am I Doing Wrong?
Does it have the fuel tank on the engine? If it does, did you forget to loosen the vent screw? It is typical for an outboard of those eras to rev up just before they stall from lack of fuel. If, it has a separate tank, is there a vent on the tank that you forgot to loosen? Evinrudes and Johnsons (they were the same motors with different badging) originally had a double fuel line, and a pressurized tank. Sometime in the 60s, if memory serves they went to a single line fuel tank. If you have a double line, and you didn't tighten the fuel filler cap, you can pump the fuel to the engine ,manually, filling the carb, but it will run out since the tank cannot build pressure. If a single line has a leak it will suck air and run out of fuel. Could also be a faulty fuel pump since you could prime it and get it going.

Eastern Mass Get Together?
Barring unforseen circumstances, I should be able to make 23 or 24 July work. How many are interested?

2 Man Bass Boats
There's not a thing wrong with the Perch or Bass Raider. The seats swivel and can be moved forward and back. Easy to move or remove depending on whether you're fishing solo or with another. I hadn't thought about the seats. You know what is best for you. Good luck with whatever you end up with, and catch a ton of fish.

Who Would You Be If You Could Live The Life Of A Rock Star For A Year?
Whew, for a moment I thought you meant Richard Simmons.

14' Jon Boat Stable?
I don't think he's selling that boat. I think it's one he's considering.

2 Man Bass Boats
Coleman is a pretty good company. They make all manner of outdoor and camping equipment, plus canoes and plastic boats such as the one you are considering. Coleman did not get where they are by having a lousy reputation. In general, they provide good value for the buck. I saw this boat at a Dick's store for 599. It would be a much more stable boat with more room and comfort than the Perch.

Problems Accessing Forum
I knew I'd jinx myself by saying everything was finally running properly. Clicked on a different topic and got the offline message. Tried several times without success. Finally I shut the computer down and ran some errands and took care of some projects. Just started it up. Did nothing with the dns cache or the temporary files, cookies, etc. The forum page opened. It seems to be a random intermittant thing. The only thing I know for sure is that it is becoming old in a hurry.

Jon Boat
I've seen some type of tubular floatation that mounts on the outside of the boat, above the waterline. When the boat tips enough for them to hit the water, they provide floatation/lift to limit or greatly reduce listing. They work like outriggers, but are attached directly to the side of the boat.

Horsepower Restricted Lakes
I've seen many different rules on the limited waters. Some will allow you to use a regular bass boat, but the propeller must be removed. On others, the motor must be locked in the up position. On yet others such as East and West Antioch lakes at the Rocky Mountain State Park in or near Rome, GA, have the following regulation. Boats Fishing boats may be used on recreation lakes but must be operated at idle (no-wake) speed regardless of motor size. All boats used on the area must carry the required safety equipment, including appropriate personal flotation devices. All vessels, which carry any means of mechanical propulsion, must be registered. Personal watercraft (jet skis) and sailboard use is prohibited. http://www.georgiawildlife.com/sites/default/files/uploads/wildlife/fishing/pdfs/pfa/rmpfa_fishing_regs.pdf You can use a regular bass boat, and can run the gasoline engine, but only at idle. Others will not allow any boat on the water with any propulsion that exceeds their limit no matter, no how. Yet others, like Varner in Georgia are limited to boats of 16 feet or less, and electric motors only. Some of the rigs that fish there have as many as three motors on the stern with another in the bow. Yet others have electric motors that will move the boats at planing speed. Not for long, but they buzz from spot to spot and then use a trolling motor. Not sure if those are allowed in Varner, but they are used on some of the electric only lakes in the Metro Atlanta area. Because the regs can vary so widely, check with your local authorities on the specifics.

Fishing Jargon
The purpose of advertising is to increase sales, not alienate consumers. As far as I'm concerned, Mumbles Menino is a windbag. Whoever dreamt up this ill fated advertising campaign is in the same class as the nitwits that dreamt up New Coke and discontinued the original version, only to have to bring it back as Classic Coke and eventually flush the New Coke down the drain. Maybe Nike thought it was cool to use the street jargon, and maybe it was. So cool it got a cold reception in the marketplace. Some commercials are ground breaking while others break ground only to be buried in that ground. While Mumbles was the first significant voice to speak out against those T shirts, I suspect Nike got enough negative comments from the general public to scrub the deal. Truth is, there are T shirts and other clothing with far worse things on them. See them almost every day. But the sellers don't also market apparel and sporting goods to the general public as Nike does. They market the T shirts to a particular niche. They have no big picture.

Favorite Line For Largemouth
I use the same line for both largemouth and smallmouth. The type of water, bottom, cover, etc., has more to do with what line I fish than whether I'm fishing largemouth or smallmouth. For example, I never fish braid without a stout fluoro leader in places where the line is likely to be dragged over and around rocks. When I'm jig fishing and want to feel every tic and tap, I'll fish braid. Most of the time it's fluoro, the lighter the better when practical to do so. If I'm fishing in thick vegetation, six to eight pound fluoro is as light as I'll go. Clear open water with only a few hangs, I'll go as light as four pound test. Keep in mind that the four pound test of today is equivalent to the six or eight pound test of thirty or forty years ago. When I fished 0 or 1 Mepps spinners back in the day, I used two pound test since it was the only way to cast those lures more than ten feet. After a forty plus year layoff from freshwater fishing I was amazed at the lines of today. Still am.

Fishing Jargon
Guess they could read the handwriting on the wall. "Da mn the torpedos, full speed ahead." is not always prudent. Especially when it impacts the bottom line. It was a wise business decision. Nothing more, nothing less.

Problems Accessing Forum
The same thought had entered my mind. It seems to be ok now. Has been since yesterday afternoon.

Problems Accessing Forum
In addition to dumping the DNS cache, on Internet Explorer I had to go to internet options and delete the temporary files, cookies and history, before I could get on. Then it would still periodically pop up the offline message. It'll jinx me for sure, but it has been working ok since yesterday afternoon. I got away from the computer last night at around nine. Got back on this morning and the forum still operated properly.

Happy Birthday
Now where do you suppose Grey Wolf got the info on your birthday? Maybe your profile and the birthday list on this forum? Big mouth indeed. Anyway, Happy Birthday young fella. By the way, there is only one alternative to getting old, and that is dying young.

Why Is Fluoro Preferred For Drop Shotting?
If they are biting at it where it enters the water, it does not need to be visible. They see the tiny ripples around it and strike at the center, quite likely thinking the ripples are made by an insect. When I've had blue gill or other small fish striking at the line, it's at the surface.

Your Favorite Brand Of Reels (Baitcast Or Spinning)
My seven spinning reels are Shimano Saros. Six 2500 series and one 1000 series. I suppose you could say they are my favorites. They are as smooth as butter and the drags are flawless. This will probably curse me, but I've never had a problem with them. I've had three BPS Johnny Morris spinning reels and gave them away. Mechanically, they were ok, but that titanium deposition finish was horrible. It blistered and started to flake off within a year. They replaced the first at no charge, but when the finish began to disintegrate on it, I gave them away. The more expensive reels no doubt are better, but I'd rather have the savings to spend on electronics and other gear.
