Sarah Palin's Alaska
Well, that's one of the good things about getting older. When I was twenty, women over thirty just did not cut it, and girls under 18 were too young. That gave me a ten year range of women that could look good to me. As I got older, the lower range moved up very little, while the upper range moved upward considerably. Now, at 69, I can find women ranging from 20ish to their 60s attractive, as far as eye candy goes.

Odd hypothetical question but I'm bored so here goes:
Yes, I would still fish with the "lesser" gear, I think. I still have my old Shakespear Wonder Rod that I used fifty years ago. I kinda refurbished it last year so I could try fishing with it. I replaced the bandaids and adhesive tape that were holding some of the eyes in place with electrical tape. I have not been able to find the old Pfleuger Freespeed spinning reel that was on it, so I purchase a new econo Shimano for about 30 bucks. Spooled it with 6 pound Trilene mono, rigged it up with an Owner Sled Head and four inch Zoom lizard. I'd been having good luck with that setup, so that's what I used. Casting was a chore because the rod is soooooooo flexible. Retrieving it was even worse, with the rod being so limber, and the mono so stretchy, I had no feel whatever. Back in the day, I thought that Shakespeare rod was great. Compared to even the entry level stuff like my BPS Extremes it was like trying to fish with a cooked noodle. I have caught some nice fish on that rod, but can only imagine how much better I would have done with today's equipment. But, if it was all I had, I would fish with it. Given a choice, it will stay safe and dry in my home. I keep it only for sentiment.

I don't do drugs or alcohol
I'll interject my two cents worth. My wife will have a glass of wine now and then with a meal, or in the evening. Me, I never touch the stuff except for toasts at weddings and the like. I've tried it and don't care for it. But, here's the thing. According to science and medicine some folks have a disease, or are predisposed to becoming addicted, or alcoholics. Supposedly, the first drink for them is enough to establish a dependency on alcohol. If that is the case, and an individual cannot determine if they have the "alcohol gene" or whatever it is that causes them to need it, why take the chance? It is folly to take that chance, hoping for the best. Kinda like playing an alcohol version of Russian Roulette.

You're Invited to the 6th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Haven't heard from either of them since a few weeks after the last road trip, but, unless I'm mistaken, they were both being deployed for another year's tour of duty in Iraq or that area of the world. I think they were both involved in organizing the transport of materials to and from that area.

You really think he looks like a kangaroo under the costume? No. But his own website identifies him as the person in the kangaroo suit. I do think some of the stuff was funny. Funny in the same way as the Three Stooges' slapstick comedy.

cameras aren't that hard to conceal While that is true, it would be hard for a guy to stand around on a golf course, in proximity to the guy who got knocked into the water, without the unfortunate golfer wondering what he was doing there. And that the golfer would not hear the kangaroo thump, thump, thumping toward him, without so much as a twitch is more than a little suspicious to me. Then again, I will admit to being a cynic. There are some nuts in the world that would do such things. Usually they are found in institutions. Some of the stuff this guy does, if for real would amount to assault and batteries. While he might make an escape from his "victims" at the time, his misdemeanors and/or felonies are recorded. He has created files of evidence which could be used to identify and convict him. That leads me to conclude that, like Jackass, the movies, the chargable stunts that he performs are staged, and there is no real victim.

Does anyone believe this was not staged? I'm sure there are cameramen on golf courses, sidewalks, etc., that were never noticed by the "innocent victims" of his pranks.

Does anyone besides me know what company used these words in their theme song for a television program? And, what was the name of the program? No fair googling.

KVD-His strengths
KVD's greatest strength is his management of time. He does not waste a nano second with unnecessary movements. If he catches a good un, he may give one fist pump when he boats the fish. If he loses a good un, the lure is right back in the water. He neither celebrates, nor mopes while he is fishing. Whether he has more knowlege than everyone else, I do not know, but this I will guarantee, just from watching television coverage, everything else being equal, KVD will still outperform the others on a regular basis because he spends more time with his lure in the water, simply because the does not bound around the boat throwing a temper tantrum, nor in celebration. From first cast to last cast, he is all business. He is the epitome of efficiency.

The shoplifters hid all this stuff where?
EDMOND, OK -- Two women are arrested for shoplifting and police say they used their bodies to conceal the goods. Edmond police authorities say it was at the Edmond TJ Maxx that loss prevention officers found the duo stuffing items under their belly fat and breasts. They say they took four pair of boots, three pair of jeans, a wallet and gloves; $2,600 worth of store merchandise. Ailene Brown, 28, and 37-year-old Shmeco Thomas were arrested for shoplifting and are facing felony charges. Officer James Hamm said, "These two were actually concealing them in areas of their body where excess skin was, under their chest area and armpits." http://www.kfor.com/kfor-news-fat-roll-shoplifters-story,0,3781914.story

Swimming the dropshot in a mudhole.
I didn't weigh it. Didn't want to keep it out of the water long enough to run up to my boat to get the scale. I'd guess about eight pounds. She was fat, in spite of her worn out tail. I haven't seen anything but bass in this pond. I know there are smaller fish because there is usually a couple of pairs of kingfishers, and a heron or two wading the shore.

Speed trap on I-20 in Georgia. What a hoot.
Never seen anything like it. We were heading east toward Atlanta. Between exits 30 and 35, we saw four cruisers lights flashing with five vehicles pulled over. One cop had nabbed two speeders, and the others, one each. There was a state trooper travelling ahead of us. He slowed to make a left hand turn onto a crossover in a wooded section of the median. There were at least eight more cop cars lined up, facing the west bound lane of I-20. They had a regular production line going. Oh, and one more thing. They were operating in an area where speeding fines were doubled because it was a construction zone. No work was being done at that time, other than by the long arm of the law.

Fall Bass in Shallow Lake - Weed Problems
Here's the result of swimming a wacky rigged drop shot rig in a tiny, shallow pond with grassy patches behind our daughter's house yesterday. The main reason for weedless hooks is the pond has several stumps. The weedless hooks work their way around them, most of the time. This poor old girl has seen better days. Her tail is about worn off. But, she has a full belly.

Swimming the dropshot in a mudhole.
You don't need a fancy boat. You don't need expensive gear. You don't need to "follow the book". We are at our daughter's home in GA. Behind her home is a small pond, created many years ago by damming a tiny trickle of a stream. Trees were cut, leaving stumps, and the earthen dam with a standpipe attached to a culvert determines the maximum water level. At the moment, it is about three feet below "full pool". That is appropriate because the pond is not much bigger than a pool, two acres at the most. Last year at Thanksgiving, I caught a four pounder from this tiny pond, and felt certain there was bigger to be had. Here we are in GA, my bass boat parked in the driveway, and used only three times, in West Point Lake, launching at different sites. Total catch for those three excursions? Eight fish, all under two pounds. I'd been puttering around in my daughters 8 foot bass hunter with one paddle, trying different baits. Kept snagging in grassy patches in the shallow pond. Paddling a BassHunter is no easy chore, but on this small pond it was fine. I was very impressed by the boat, in spite of its size. The seat was comfortable, swiveled, and could be positioned anywhere along the length of the boat. It is a very stable boat, easy to carry in the bed of a pickup, and with a trolling motor is ideal for small ponds or hanging close to a sheltered shore. I'm considering adding one of these types of boats, in a larger size to my "fleet". I switched to a drop shot rig, spacing the quarter ounce sinker about 18 inches from the bait, and started out with four inch senkos in various colors. Caught a few which averaged about a pound. Then I put a three inch watermelon/chartreuse laminate trick stick on the hook, wacky rigged, and the action picked up. In a couple of hours I caught twelve, again, averaging about a pound in size. But, it was action, and it cost nothing but a couple of baits. The next day I switched baits to the BPS Tournment Series Stiko bait, 5 or 6 inches, watermelon/chartreuse swirl, and did even better. Wanting to try an entirely different color to see what would happen, I attached a four inch trick stick, black/yellow swirl. Even more action, and on the day before thanksgiving, in the morning I landed this. Note the camoflage treatment on the boat, the size, and the amount of gear. The brown plastic bag beneath me held around a dozen bags of various plastic baits.
