Walmart Clearance...
We have 5 Walmarts in our small town and they're all terrible fishing wise. Last year I loaded up on spook Jr's for $1.50 each- but that's about the best thing they've ever done. Man I wish I could've found those war eagle spinnerbaits OP! That's the only ones I use! That's an awesome find/deal! Our Walmart doesn't even carry them- I get them at dick's.

Hybrid Line Vs Floro
I also experimented with various flouro's. ... but in the end I went back to YZ hybrid on all rods except flippin and frogs.

Scott Martin Challenge With Spider-Man & Barbie Poles
I loved this episode. Good stuff.

Question About Reel Gears
Yeah. .. I think that is fine fore Med/deep cranks. A little slow for me in the squarebill/lipless area- but doable. I'm sure you could sell it on here and take that money and get a 6.x which will have more versatility. I wouldn't bother trying to swap gears. You could probably get a whole other reel for not much more.

Best Looking Spinning Reel Ever !!!
I like the looks too. I won't buy one though. .... for no other reason than I have 2 perfectly fine Quantum Incytes that I love - and never use them either. Lol.

Trimming A Jig Skirt
You want to catch a fish on a jig. ... take nothing but a jig until you catch them. The jig is versatile enough to fish in almost any condition. Once you catch a few, a light will turn on and you'll go "....oh. ....I get it now! " and you'll have one tied on every time you go. And I trim my jig skirts even with the back of my hook almost all the time. In the middle of summer when fishing a football jig in deep water, I prefer a big profile- and leave it be.

T-Rigging Rod?
7'mh/f is generally the answer. Its what I use. I like a little more spring in the tip than my jig rod. ... but that's subjective/ personal preference.

Best Shakey Head?
Save yourself some grief and just Texas rig your elaztech finess worm on a 2/0 straight shank hook and a 1/8oz bullet weight. The worm will float the hook straight up and down, you will be mostly weedless, and you won't be losing $2 a head when you break off. Jmho. Edit: alternatively, you can take a lighter and heat up a screw lock on ANY shakey head and when you thread the elzatech worm on there- it will stay all day.

Worm Vs Flipping Weights
Ahhh. ... I see now. No. .. I can't think of a real advantage either. The "flipping" shape is designed to punch grass for the most part. I can't see why it would be an advantage OR a disadvantage around other cover such as wood or what have you. Buy the cheaper one.

Worm Vs Flipping Weights
Just because its tungsten, doesn't mean its a "flippin" weight. There are many advantages to tungsten over lead. The con is the price. Its up to you.

First Time Fishing Salt Water And Need Some Help
^ this. I use bass tackle everytime I inshore fish- which is at LEAST twice as much as I bass fish. Lol. Just take care of it, rinse it off lightly when your done- and for gods sake, don't drop your reel in the water!

Crankbait Reel Question
I know its hard to think this way on a budget. ... but ideally, you would want two separate rigs. The general consensus ( and IMHO) a deep crank rod benifits from long length, parabolic bend, and low gear ratios. Where as generally (and IMHO) your lipless cranks, squarebills and possibly even mid depth cranks benifit from a stiffer action in general, and a higher speed reel. Of course you can do both with a 7'mh/mf and a 6.x reel if you wish. ..... but that's splitting the difference and really is dependent on how specialized you want your aresenal.

Confidence Baits For Late February Early March?
Start in what you think is a spawning cove, and then work your way out until you find the fish. A frog, buzzbait or spook would be a good search lure up shallow to see if the fish are in the spawning area. Watch for any follows or swirls. Obviously look for beds. If they're not there. ....or if all the other competitors are. ... then move out to the next point and throw a crank or lipless. Jig or carolina rig. Try to find fish moving up or moving out. Regardless of water temp, these fish are going to be tired of waiting to spawn. The longer sunlight will force them to move up. If the coldfront/rain puts a funk on the spawn, then they will all be bunched up. ...waiting to move in. Find them. Also keep in mind, half your lake may have spawned already. ..... post spawn fish are hungry.

What Reel Do I Have?
That's my favorite reel you have there. I use them exclusively for saltwater. They're beasts! Nice score.

Flipping Rod
Frogs, jig, punching mats. .... that rod is a beast. You could do c-rigs and football jigs with it. ...but I personally like I tiny bit softer tip for that.

Halo Daylight Series
Yeah. ... I'm still squeemish about taking my 3-400 dollar bass rigs out in my yak. Lol. So I use older rods and reels I have upgraded from. Still nice stuff, but I'd only cry a few days if I lost them. Lol. My inshore rods however are still a question mark for me, as I had been using lightening rods, and while they've been fine, I'm growing tired of their weight. But combining being in the yak with the abuse of saltwater- well.,. I want the best value I can get! I picked up the little F&S inferno on sale at dicks for $25 bucks and its been pretty awesome. Light , sensitive, and its landed many a redfish up to 26". So. ......yeah. ....

Storing Spinnerbaits Bent In Plano Box
The box in the video works great for jigs too. I find that almost any style jig can either be held in the groove around its skirt collar, or others you can bend the weed guard down into to slot for the spinnerbait wire. Holds chatterbaits too.

Halo Daylight Series
I wonder if I could find one on sale/ clearence. I know it seems crazy to say that- but I have found the field and stream inferno rod is pretty adequate for my inshore needs, and is $29 normally. I'm sure this rod is leaps and bounds better. .... but adequate and cheaper is where I am right now. Lol

Halo Daylight Series
I'm actually fairly interested in the fabulously ugly starlite. Looks like it would make a great kayak rod. Other opinions?

Halo Daylight Series
I saw you mention this company in another post. Thanks for reminding me to check them out.

Accurate Digital Scale
The fish grip has a lanyard that I used for a while, but I switched it out to a key ring. The lanyard was bungee. I dont remember the exact weight, but the scale has the tare weight saved. So as long as I keep using that same set up, it will be right. The last one I had kept losing the tare weight towards the end there..well I think it did. ...lol. .. and eventually just died. But it lasted almost a year ( 10 months) for $3 and was accurate. This year I'm going to reset the tare once a month just to be sure.

Welcome! Love the tips! Thanks!

Accurate Digital Scale
Ill have to agree again. I have tested mine against many other scales and known weights, and its always dead on or. 01 off. Good enough for me. Also. .. I disagree with changing the hook. I dont like jamming ANOTHER hole in the fishes lip- i just use a pair of fish grips. *shrug* Jmho.

Soft Plastics/light Lures On A Baitcaster?
Well, when I'm throwing weightless plastics, its always either a floating worm or a fluke. Both of these I tend to be casting at targets and general areas as opposed to fan casting for distance. To that end- my current rod for this application is a 7'm/f veritas and a new white carbonlite reel. So yes.... it can be done, depending on your expectations.

Flipping Rod
Fwiw I flip with a 7'11" veritas. I've only had it less than a year- but I love it. By flip I mean punching mats. ... that's the only time I flip.
