The snook I have caught in fresh water ponds TASTES a whole lot better than the salty mud flavor the salt water has.And yes I have eaten all of the above ways to catch SNOOK.Marinas,Canals,Creeks,and even the BEACHES.Buy for the best tasting, white fluffy, tender piece of meat.Not fishy.I would like to know why some people are afraid of fresh water snook.They move in for what ever reason, spawning, cold weather will push them into the shallows for warmth.What ever, it is a somewhat cleaner ecosystem, forage,and no predators, except man.That's me,Leave them there and I be more than happy to catch-em up.Take your fish and then splitting the center for a pocket, then take your rib meat, picking the bones out making a tuna like salad spread into pocket and bake, until done.Also try taking your meat boiling it making the tune like spread,what ever spices, and rizs crackers and chatter cheese or creamchees with chives my favorit.I will not eat anouther salt water snook givin or caught.

If the main lake is not what you want try south of ST. RD. 60 E. past the lock in the canal system between the locks ,Ive done pretty well in some of river arms/creeks channels.Some lead into marinas, so on.GOOD LUCK.

I fished a tournament at Lettuce Lake, salt fed to brackish water, river system.A tough time, then put the drop shot under a slip bobber system with a finesse worm and two styles of minnow baits on, set to the depth that was needed to catch fish.Came in second place with the wait at 17lbs give or take a few ounces.Since then I have been playing around with a drop shot under a CORK.IT WORKS.Just an Idea.

Ive been using Ambassador reels for as long as I could walk, then went to All Lefties.Never brook a fish off flip-pin or rod.5-3-1 & 6-3-1 reels with out failure.I have used a shimano convergence graphite 7ft rd, 15-30 ln, lure wt.3/8 to 1once. to much for me to handle, with 65lb braid. My hook set is forceful, meaning I'm pulling the hook out,straightened, or brook.I solved it by using a MH rod built for something totally different, a cheap Ambassador Tournament grade Rated for 1/4 , 1 1/4once lure spooled with 30lb braid and my drag is not winched down tight, there has to be some type of shock resistance to absorb the blow.If not It will damage your rods, reels and even your PRIDE.I'm glad I switched to LEFTIES a long time ago for my POWER is in my right side.But every once in awhile I still set the hook with booth hands.I do go through a lot of PAWS and WORM GEARS for the abuse I put my stuff through

I use a bullet wait with a bead tied to the end of my line.If I am going to lose something it may as well be a couple of pennies, not $3.dollars in what style of drop-shot weight I use.Some times I use a Bell sinker.And if I wanted to break off easy, I would Tye a leader line that was smaller then my main line.

I fish here in Florida, and seen different lakes with Hydrilla Matted so thick you couldn't,t PUNCH at all.Pretty much had to fish around them.It will grow and lay on the surface giving a false look like floating mats.And yes it stays as thick as the patch you have found on top as well as the bottom.
