New Chubby Color. !!!!!
ooh...tomato! That is one of my favorite soft plastic colors. I purchased a case of special run Zoom brush hogs in tomato a while back. I will definitely have to add some of those to my arsenal. Maybe you should call that color Turnip. Kinda looks like one...

2008 Shimano Curado 200E7
I don't have any reason not to believe it. They just have their website ready to go for when the reels arrive. These reels are going to start shipping to dealers very soon. So where do you think they came up with those prices?

So What Will Quantum Do Now?
I picked up a couple of Quantum Tour Edition reels from my local Cabelas and will be putting them through the ringer. I've talked with fellow tackle reviewers on Tackle Tour and the consensus is that Quantum has come a long way in the past few years, and this is an exceptional buy. We'll see. I refuse to conform to one or more brands solely message board statements. Actually; judging by members that have actually used them, they get favorable reviews. Look for a review in about a month. In the mean time, here is Tackle Tour's review... http://www.tackletour.com/reviewquant06ptburner.html

If you could only use one bait?
It's funny you mentioned that; after a strong year in my club, the Oklahoma State top 6 tournament had me paired on day 2 with a gentleman that threw a blue fleck Power worm attached to clear blue fluorescent Stren. His line glowed like a flare in the sun, and he caught fish. My fluorocarbon line and Zoom Speed Craw didn't fare as well (this is a panic box bait for me!). He had two fish to my zero. My partner was an old schooler with grey hair and he apparently had something to teach.

question about Lures...
If I could own only one Lucky Craft bait it would be the Moonsault cb100. This obnxiously loud, tight wiggling frenzy has dominated fish ever since I started throwing it. A close second is the BDS 2.

Fishing Tackle Storage Project: Fishing Shelves
To be honest; I've collected a lot over the years, but use very little. I've thought seriously about thinning my selection by half but keep knocking the idea because of the 'what if's'. It isn't hurting me to keep it at this point but I will never tell anyone I need it.

Fishing Tackle Storage Project: Fishing Shelves
Nahhh...she won't kill you. I must say the biggest thing is that my tackle doesn't have to be hidden. This is one of our guest rooms, and getting the nod to have my boxes out in the open meant I had it looking pretty d**n neat! Now our guests get to sleep next to my tackle

Fishing Tackle Storage Project: Fishing Shelves
With my wife griping about my 'excessive tackle boxes' (3700's)...I decided on a system to organize them. I feel like I'm already pretty organinzed; I have a box(s) for several techniques, but not a place to file them. I choose 3700's for my tackle storage, and 3741's (4" deep 3700's) for my unopened plastic storage. With boxes coming out of every crevice in our guest room, I suggested a shelving system that would look nice and not be an eye sore for guests. Making sound like it would benefit us both; my wife was instantly on board. Off to Walmart I went to buy some bookshelves. I purchased (2) 5-tier bookshelves which seemed almost tailor made for 3700 size boxes. The bookshelves only cost $29 each, and made my tackle look very neat...and more importantly 'displayable'. Making your tackle collection easy on the eyes and quite displayable will help your cause. Here is the finished product...

Best flipping stick around $100
+1 I'll recommend the Compre; I've owned several.

Shimano Japanese reels
Be fully educated on it before you buy. I enjoy several Japanese reels as well as their American counterparts. A reel that comes to mind is the Daiwa Alphas. It is identical to the Daiwa Sol...same dimensions, frame, etc., but the Alphas weighs more than a full ounce less. Why? Japanese anglers do not put the wear and tear on reels that U.S. anglers do. Daiwa Japan felt it could get away with a main gear made of nylon, while Daiwa stateside felt the need for a Brass main gear. Brass is substantially more durable and will last infinitely longer...but is it needed? I'll let you know in a couple of years . I own a couple of each.

What's Working For You?
I've been fishing points (secondary and main lake) with a Zoom Tapp, and C-rigging them also with a classic Zoom french fry (4-5ft leader). I had numbers but no bigguns this past weekend while on Eagle Mountain; the fish just wouldn't leave alone my BPS Beaver Bug in Roadkill (I highlyrecommend you pick some of these up...it's a cross between a Sweet Beaver and Fat Ika).

Fishing line
Yep...get yourself some Pline. The first thing I noticed when I tried it was the silicone coating...love it!

Trilene 100% fluorocarbon
I use the Trilene 100% in 12 and 15lb on several rigs, and it is the best fluoro I have tried. Granted, Berkley's last go at it with Vanish sucked balls.

Gotta Try the Senkos!
Get some watermelon/cream laminate...that's my favorite color and resembles a dying baitfish perfectly.

2008 Shimano Curado 200E7
Improved? Is a shift of production to Maylaysia worth $60? Granted it is peace of mind to know a reel is made in Japan where craftsmanship is very high, but I will pass judgement when I fish with one. I don't own a Curado D...are D models made in Japan?
-
2008 Shimano Curado 200E7
I'd be ticked if I bought a Curado D for $200 and then they release a new model that is much improved for $139. I guess we should all be happy.

2008 Shimano Curado 200E7
There were two pics leaked of the New E series Curado, but one of them has been earased! You can still see the lefty version, which is a mirror of the righty. It is touted as being smaller and lighter than the 100D, with 200D line capacity and HEG gearing. Somebody on Tackle Tour found an online retailer that has already listed the new E series models on their website (they show 'out of stock' obviously until they are officially released). You get to see the different models and prices though. Package Quantity: 1 Model: CU200E7 $139.99 Out of Stock Package Quantity: 1 Model: CU201E7 $148.99 Out of Stock Package Quantity: 1 Model: CU200E5 $139.99 Out of Stock Package Quantity: 1 Model: CU300E $194.99 Out of Stock Package Quantity: 1 Model: CU301E $206.99 Out of Stock Package Quantity: 1 Model: CI200E $92.99 Out of Stock Package Quantity: 1 Model: CI201E $98.99 Out of Stock

Ardent XS1000 baitcaster review
For the same price you get a Zillion with none of this to worry about. But then you would have nothing but a Daiwa... 8-) Hey now! Some of us like tight tolerances

Is reel weight an issue for you?
You're touching on something here that I was wondering about when I made the original post: Does an extra ounce or two in the reel decrease the vibrations we feel from the fish? Well...it sure feels like my 6.2oz TD-Z's make a more sensitive combo than my other GLX's paired with say...even my alphas. Maybe it's just that magnesium framed reels transmit vibrations better. So maybe it is a combination of weight and frame material? I'd like to hear from anybody else who owns a few aluminum framed casting reels as well as a few Magnesium framed reels and have fished with them for a while. Like I said though, aluminum framed buttery smoothness feels better to me when retrieving spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and any other moving bait that pushes water. I've got to have my ultralight magnesium reels for worms and jigs though...I'm spoiled.
