  1. It's was probably the 'cutest' one
  2. Hehe...I like that analogy 8-). Sooo true!
  3. I've used the Gamma copolymer, and it was a limp and castable line. There is some stretch in there though; this is something manufacturers can't get around when they soften a line. I don't mind a little memory, and you will not notice it throwing spinnerbaits. I'd use a tough line like Yozuri Hybrid or Pline CXX.
  4. I saw the test, and it was very informative. I tried to find the link, but couldn't find it. I do remember that the lowest stretching copolymers were Pline CXX, Yozuri Hybrid, Trilene Sensation, and Sten Original. Pline Fluoroclear and most of the fluorocarbon lines like Seaguar were semi-stretchy, and resided in the middle of the pack. The stretchiest lines were Pline CX premium, Trilene XL, Suffix, and a couple of others. As you can see with the least stretchy lines, memory is there, but I don't find it bothersome. The memory seems to disappear when you start fishing with the line.
  5. The great thing about 3700's and a bag that holds them, is that you can just select the boxes you are going to use for that particular trip. I have two bags that hold 8 3700's each, but I only take one bag with me. I keep dozens of 3700's in my Tackle room, and just rotate them in and out of the bag.
  6. As said, they aren't bad, but don't come through cover like a BDS 1. The Bandits are cheap enough that I don't mind losing one now and again, so I'll throw one anywhere.
  7. backwatersonline.com They have a sale bin that is always full, and you can find some great deals in there. I've ordered so many times from them; they know me by name!
  8. Sweet! I think you were due for a large purchase 8-). I've made mine in the last month, so it's on to everyone else...come on yall...use that tax return wisely!
  9. I fished the compre's for a season, and loved them. I felt they were lighter and had a more crisp action than the Premier, and I think they fished like a more expensive rod. Rod choice is based on some preferences, so I always recommend going to a retailer that has both rods and comparing them directly. I can usually tell within 5 seconds whether I'm going to love it or not.
  10. Tectan is incredible line...one of the best mono's out there and is never mentioned. It is the 'Stren' over in Europe, and is the #1 selling line over there. It has the smallest diameter per break strength I have ever seen. I tried the premium plus, and it was thin, strong, and abrasion resistant, but it was a little stiff for a spinning reel. I'd use it versus Pline CXX if it were cheaper, but it is significantly higher priced. They make a line called Senso-Flex that would be perfect for spinning reels.
  11. It just amounts to what your priorities are. Limper or 'softer' lines stretch more...and stretch is one of my #1 priorities. Hybrid ultra-soft isn't stretchy, but it definitely has more stretch than CXX or regular Hybrid.
  12. That Sugio hook looks nice Dan; it is like a cross between an EWG and an offset wide gap. The hook point is quite a bit higher than the line tie, more similar to an offset round bend than an EWG...should be effective at sticking bass.
  13. I have a very similar system. I have a few dozen 3700's with different categories of baits, and I just grab 7 or 8 and put them in one of my bags along with a worm binder in each side pocket. I hand select the soft baits that I put in the worm binders that are condusive to the water and conditions I will be fishing.
  14. The 17lb is rough...I stick to 15lb and under unless I am truly flippin'. I use the 15lb for shallow cranks, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and traps. The difference in memory between the 15lb and 17lb is very noticeable, with the 15lb behaving much better.
  15. Wow! That is one sharp-looking rig 8-). Your reel even matches your guide wraps ;D
  16. The G-Blanks are a fantastic value. They are built on Shikari SHX blanks, and you can't have one built on that blank by anyone else for under $200. They are indeed very light, but I thought they felt a little tip-heavy, but then again nearly every split grip I have held has felt tip-heavy. G-Blanks are indeed a great buy 8-)
  17. Fantastic design + Tungsten...I'm in! They have been on my shopping list for a while now; I need to just pull the trigger and order some.
  18. I use offset round bends on C-rigs and split-shot rigs...they work well. I use the Falcon hook and weight box, and just keep hooks in it. That allows me to carry 1/0-5/0 in EWG's, Offset round bends, wide gap straight shanks, and Texposer's.
  19. I use Texposer hooks by Lunker City. I have also tried 5/0 Owner wide gap straight shanks with some success also, but the worm tends to slide down the hook, so I stick with the Texposer.
  20. I have used the Texposer hooks from Lunker City with great success, and have tried 5/0 Owner wide gap straight shanks with some success also, but the worm tends to slide down the hook.
  21. This guy has a long standing good reputation and I know several guys personally that have bought from him. Many here on the forum. No bad reports, yet. You can bet that I will know if the rod is anything but perfect when it comes out of the box. Thanks for the heads up, I will pull the old surveyor's inspection on it for sure. Ronnie I don't think he was speaking of Fat Fish...several of us have been buying rods from him for years, and Loomis doesn't release seconds for sale anyway. I thought he was speaking of the 'Canadian' Loomis rods at a discount.
  22. I think they are the best rod under $100.
  23. Loomis doesn't release seconds, and I imagine the rods from Canada are just a GL2 with a different name. The only way to get around mandated pricing is ebay, due to the auction format.
  24. I'll add that I do use EWG hooks; every time I rig a Senko, tube, and sometimes with lizards. My hookup ratio isn't terrible with them, but when you reach that median in your bass fishing, you start looking for little ways that can increase your odds of hooking up with an additional bass or two.
